Acrylic Paint meets Parchment….step by step.

Acrylic Paint meets Parchment….step by step.

Hi there! Thanks for popping in. Once the workshop came to an end today,  and we waved goodbye to our lovely guests, I shot off to see the dentist again, to get to the root of the problem… (excuse the pun). Nothing he could do to help except assure me that Dry Socket hurts like hell, (no shit Sherlock),  but that it does get better after 2 to 3 weeks. And the good news is it’s already been a week!…

Time to get out of my head….

Time to get out of my head….

Hi there. Happy summer’s day! After a lovely, somewhat cooler day at Crowborough,  I shot off to the dentist. Looks like the old girl’s got Dry Socket.  No wonder it is so painful and not improving! Wednesday’s blog is our mindful day though, and I have to tell you: despite the toothache, I have made a fascinating discovery this week.  (And I don’t mean put the paint in the fridge when it’s too hot  – although that’s pretty groundbreaking too!) So…

Heatwave stops play….

Heatwave stops play….

Hi there! Thanks for popping in! Is it warm where you are? It was sweltering at the workshop today. And if you don’t believe me – ask the team! And if you don’t believe them, ask the paint ! Didn’t behave at all well !  The paint that is – the team was lovely.  But the paint didn’t do what it was supposed to,  so it’s in the fridge now, cooling down. Let’s see if that helps…. I reckon that will…

Leftovers tonight!

Leftovers tonight!

Hiya! Thanks for popping in. Just got back home after day 1 at the Retreats. I think it went well. Either that. or our guests were just very polite! (or frightened of me!) Most of my stash is at the Rugby club, ink pads, powders and what have you. Not a Black Archival in sight! So we have to make do and med. Here’s a five minute step by step I made, using what was on the desk! Right. Ready?  I…

Pokie- what??

Pokie- what??

Hi there. Hope you are enjoying your Sunday? This time last week I was at Hampton Court with Grace. Now she’s already back in New York, we’ve got a new Prime Minister,  there has been a dreadful, premeditated massacre in Nice, and an attempted coup d’état in Turkey which went wrong  and cost hundreds of lives. Unbelievable, incomprehensible, bloody tragic. All in a week. And in the meantime, thousands of people are wandering the streets, waving their phones around in…

Something very Groovi and Glittery…

Something very Groovi and Glittery…

Hi there. Good of you to pop in. Saturday’s blog a new technique, right? How to apply glitter to parchment art. Well, this isn’t new at all to the traditional parchment expert, but to me, little old parching novice that I am, when I saw lovely Linda Williams  showing our guests this at the Open Days, I was very excited to say the least. So take a Groovi Christmas card, like this one, using one of the 10 Twas the…

N I C E.

Hi there. Thanks for popping in. Friday’s Blog a private peek, right? Today I want to share something very private, because perhaps it will help somebody who is struggling with world events. And I DON’T mean BREXIT. Woke up this morning to the news of Nice. France again. On 13th November last year, Paris came under attack, remember? How do I know the date? Never to be forgotten. I made a lino cut – my first. Made one print.  Gave…

Come into the Lion’s den.

Come into the Lion’s den.

Hi there. Good of you to drop in. So much going on here today,  with Grace, the Retreats  and being bombarded with miscellaneous business issues. And to crown it all, (forgive the pun) I had a tooth out yesterday, and twas not pleasant.  One and a half hours the dentist was swinging  from this blimming tooth. And did it want to move? Did it heck. Typical, isn’t it. There’s one at the front that is so wobbly,  I had to…

Time for Reflection….

Time for Reflection….

Hi there! Thanks for popping in. Wednesdays are mindful blogs, right? Mmm…. Last Christmas, my dear friend Heather  (aka the Clarity chick with the Kneepads at the shows) gave me a gift which I have been enjoying every day. Thanks Heather! It is a Daily Meditations and Reflections Calendar. Wonder why she thought this would make a good gift for me…. On the subject of mindfulness though, it has been a Godsend. As soon as I focus on the message…

A Promise.

A Promise.

Hi there. Thanks for popping in. Raining here.  Raining there too? The paint was out on the desk, so I thought I’d have a session. Let off some pressure build-up. I won’t go into the detail – not my story to tell. Suffice it to say that if you want to upset the mother, upset the child. So here’s a simple step by step,  using a brayer in a very novel way. Spread a little black paint on the craft…
