Year of the Alphabet End of Year Sale

Year of the Alphabet End of Year Sale

Hi there.

It’s the weekend before Christmas, millions of people are on the move, the roads will be clogged, the airports will be packed – but I’m quite happy to stay close to home. We may venture out on the Ashdown Forest for a walk to Pooh bridge later on, as long as the weather behaves, but other than that, a swift trip to Morrisons first thing tomorrow morning for some Christmas essentials will do me! No, no, no. No tearing around for us this year. I like my home, and I want to enjoy it!

I am actually enjoying coming down early in the mornings, when it’s still dark, getting the log fire going, making a nice strong cup of tea, and settling down to blog to you. This simple ritual is a good way to start the day. No time to even consider what else needs doing. Just nice to focus on a simple kickstart, and arrange my thoughts slowly.

I’ve been thinking about where we’ve been this year, and where we’re headed. That’s my job, right? To drive the bus. On a side note, did I mention we took the bus to Brighton yesterday? £12 return for all 3 of us. From Crowborough to Churchill Square! That’s quite a distance. About an hour. Isn’t that crazy cheap? Even when we took the train from Tunbridge Wells to Charing Cross-London on Sunday, we only paid £36 return for all 3 of us. £12 each? £6 one way?? That’s cheap too! Conclusion? Leave the car in the drive – and use public transport when you can!

Anyway, I digress. We have been C for Celebrating the Year of The Alphabet in the SHAC throughout 2024 – and we’re not F for finished yet! Date for the Calendar: 6th January 10am. We crack on with O for…what do you think? We completed N for Nativity Nicely, and on the 6th we continue with O for? Give us some ideas please…

We’ve got that beautiful Linda Williams Calendar 202, remember? Might be the ideal things to get yourself, so you can use it specifically for any SHAC dates, workshops, retreats, Open Days, online courses etc. Keep it separate from your family life and Doctor’s appointments etc, and just fill it with your arty crafty life! Available HERE

Anyway, I digress…back to the Year of The Alphabet.

You can always go back and catch up on all the Free Drawing and Doodle sessions since A for Apple on our YouTube channel too. I just scrolled through my photos and picked a few. Here’s just a random smattering of what we’ve done, whilst creating a new and beautiful Typeface.

I’ve just had an idea! I will go through the whole year and all we‘ve done, take good pics, and make a little bloggy diary of it all, with photos. So we can use it as a reference and ideas guide. Anyway…

Back to the letters. Clarity has created an impressive L for Library of Alphabets over the years. We have stamps, stencils, Groovi plates AND dies. From fabulous fonts to florals, there are magnificent typefaces and styles to bring any artwork to life. We have gathered all of them together in one place here, to shine a light on them, and then dropped all the prices by 30%. Barginn!!!

There’s never been a better time to invest in Clarity.

All Available HERE in one place. Whether you’re a stamper, mixed media artists or parcher, these are perfect for you. Have a great day!

Love always

  1. Just read your blog. O for Octopus. we have all been so busy this year, especially you and your team. Tentacles of the octopus have been thoroughly used. Wishing you and Dave and your family a well deserved rest, a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. Hugs from Australia. 🥰🎄

    1. What a lovely idea a visual library of 2024 shac year of the alphabet, inspiration indeed. What about O for Olive tree, I’m sure drawing a beautiful lone Olive tree would be lovey and continuing with the alphabet theme and your favourite things to draw trees and landscapes could ease us into 2025 and more wonderful Clarity inspiration.
Wishing you a wonderful clam and family orientated Christmas. Blessings to you all under the Gray roof this year. love Tina.xx

  2. Still haven’t got an N never mind nativity!
O for oval and I might just about cope with that!!
thanks for a fun year in the shac, on groovi and now Clarity tv

  3. Hi Barb, what value for money your bus and train trips are ! Wait till you get your OAP free bus ticket – wonder if they will still exist when we get ours next year !

I think I have most alphabets – will go and check. There’s something about having letters – you can write what you want!

Just had a visit from youngest son, dropping of presents and collecting theirs. We’ll have a family meet up after Christmas.
Hospital check up for hubby this afternoon so fingers crossed for that and we’re having take away for tea!

I have saved the viaduct class for over Christmas when it’s a bit more slow and peaceful. Hope you manage a walk.

We have a new little Romanian rescue dog next door and I’m looking forward to getting back out to walking now there are two dogs again, we take one each. She’s settling in well since last Friday. She came in yesterday and met Mikey and that went well. I think he thought the other one had shrunk !

    Thanks for blogging x x

  4. That’s great value public transport. I got my bus pass this month , is it sad that I got overexcited?
Thank you for my Clarity birthday card by the way, not sure I got round to saying thank you.
Looking forward to a quiet Christmas, had to go shopping yesterday and it was manic. I don’t enjoy it at all. Love the thought of a walk to Pooh bridge, that’s much more my idea of fun. Enjoy

  5. Orchids, oranges. What about an orangutan!!! I can hear everyone going on no!! Whatever we draw will be fun. Have a good family Christmas and enjoy your walk.x

  6. O for owl?
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, Barbara. We’ll have ours for New Year’s Day this year…or it’ll really be next year! Just we two on Christmas Day… I’m quite looking forward to it!
    Margaret xx

  7. Your bus and train tickets seem a bargain! Whenever I look rapt ttrain prices, they always look so dear! Haven’t been on a bus in years! The steps are now too difficult for me!
    The orchid suggestion sounds good!
Do have a lovely Christmas and if the shops tomorrow are anything to go by, go very early as they were manic around 11.30 today!

  8. I love the Orchid idea , however since we moved in June I am still on icecream, plenty of catching up for me. I’ve bought several alphabets this year and love them all. I do have a request though please could we have some doodle number stamps to go with the alphabet.
Now living back in Scotland I have my bus pass, I went down to Edinburgh last week, £1.50 return, very comfy and plenty of chatter to be had with other passengers. I don’t like driving so it’s very relaxing for me and very cheap.
Happy Christmas to you and your family thank you for all you do,I’m looking forward to the online classes next year. Xx

  9. O for Opportunity springs to mind, but how to portray it doesn’t. With the surname Wise, Owls feature a lot in my life, but you have featured them before on postcards.
Glad you enjoyed your bus trip, we have very few buses visiting our village, but I coach travel to Newark on Trent to see my daughter, which is a lovely journey from Bristol.
Merry Christmas again. Just done the food shopping list for tomorrow’s delivery. We won’t eat it all I am sure.

  10. I use the alphabets a lot, wouldn’t be without them.
We can’t manage public transport these days, what with the mobility scooter and the oxygen tank, couldn’t get hospital transport or community car to the hospital today so we resorted to taxis. Not much change from £80. Worth it though for the comfort and 35 minutes journey instead of a much longer one.
O….Owls, octopus, orchid……all appeal to me. Look forward to seeing what you decide.
Enjoy your break, you deserve it.

  11. Having the stamp alphabets I bought the wood block die alphabet and have to say it’s great. Don’t know whether or not I supposed to but I separated all the individual letters so as not to waste card/paper when using them.
Hope you managed to get to Pooh sticks bridge. We went there the first Christmas Eve after our eldest daughter was born and my Husband has been taking both our girls every Christmas Eve without fail since, the 2 month old granddaughter also went last year & they are all geared up to again on Tuesday – 35 years!
    How about O for ostrich.
Hope you and all the family have a restful & peaceful
    Christmas xxxx

  12. Late replying today, realised I read your blog this morning whilst I was putting up the Christmas decorations & meant to reply at lunch time on my laptop as the keyboard is easier to use. Glad you had a good day yesterday – we are lucky in the West Midlands that our bus pass allows us to use the local trains & metro as well so we have been making more of them lately. You never know how long we will have them for considering all the other things that the Government are doing with the pensioners perks !!
I love the flexibility of the alphabets to personalise cards etc. I have made bookmarks for the younger members of the family & neighbours children using various Groovi plates & the Nutcracker. Would it be possible to have Capital letters to compliment the lower case bubble alphabet other than the A6sq ones. I used the larger lower case letters with the smaller ones where the letter is the right shape like P & O, I will post a picture to show you what I mean.

    1. I forgot to say Octopus sounds fun, we could all do with an extra pair of hands at times !! It would be great for children’s cards as well.
Although I am happy to doodle anything that you decide – it is all a way of learning new techniques & improving the ones we have already learnt xx

  13. What about an ocean, I do love to be by the sea, maybe with an orca, otter, octopus and oyster in it? Too much do you think? Or an oak tree? It’s so lovely to have somewhere to go where your imagination can take you anywhere, thank you so much for the journeys on the clarity bus! Orioles are beautiful birds.

  14. Oak, oast house, oat head, oar, ocean, okapi, olive, opossum, orange, orang-utan, orchid, oriole, oryx, osprey, ostrich, otter, owl, oyster catcher. After dropping my cookies etc off for my workmates the chair next to the fire is calling me. Yesterday during all my cooking I had a Christmas moment when my Niece called in, she lives 2 hours away, it was such a lovely surprise. I remember spending Christmas with my eldest niece and nephew when they were tiny, we would always go for a walk through woods and past streams, enjoying spending time enjoying the outside.
When we first moved into our village there were buses on the hour every hour from 6am until 10pm now there is one bus a day but no one knows when and you have to book it otherwise it is a mile walk and across a very fast busy road or a 2 mile walk to the station, neither of which work for my 92 year old husband, the tax cost £20 each way, what we will do if I have to stop driving I don’t know.
I hope that you are having a lovely time with your family and making sure you get lots of time sitting around your fire together.
Thank you so much for this year, you have got me through a very sad/bumpy year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, your family, and everyone else who follows you.

  15. Hello Barb, glad you all had a lovely trip to Brighton. I love going there when we can, or we get the opportunity. Those prices for the bus and train are very good. We are maybe going to apply for the seniors rail cards, that gives you up to 33% discount (or somewhere in that region) I think O for Owl, as I love Owls. Take care everyone, and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy and creative New Year. Bx

  16. Hi Barbara
Would like to do ‘O’ for Ocean then you can add oyster and Orca and octopus.
Hope you all have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
    Lots of love
    Ruth & Jackie xx

  17. Hi Barbara!
I hope you managed to enjoy your Christmas, despite feeling somewhat under the weather! I am late catching up with the blogs as a week ago I came down with a nasty virus! Thankfully by Christmas Day I was starting to feel better, although I didn’t have much of an appetite so had French toast for dinner!!!!

The alphabets are all fabulous – I have many different sizes of fonts and they are all very useful!

Take care and enjoy your family time xxxx
