A message from Grace x

Hello hello! Grace here. Thought I’d pop in and write a blog for Mum today. Just got home from the hospital. She’s doing ok, we’re living in the solution and doing our utmost to stay positive. Unfortunately she has a very bad case of pneumonia and pleurisy in her right lung, and although we’re seeing improvements, she’s in for a rough go of it and will take a while to recover. But I think we’re all in agreement, friends, that…

Everybody’s got Something

Everybody’s got Something

Hi there thanks for popping in. Long days, longer nights. But so many wonderful people, nurse, doctors, porters. There’s no bed free in the respiratory wing, so I am in the Acute Medical something x this is the staging place in between A&E and a ward. Clearly, there is huge traffic through here, but it also means you meet lots of poorly people. quote for today Everybody’s got something. Am I getting better? According to the Doctors, the pneumonia is…

Living in the Solution

Living in the Solution

Hi there Thanks for popping in. Today is a better day. The meds are kicking in, the nurses are wonderful, the chap in the bed opposite is so much like my brother, it’s uncanny, so there has been a lot of laughter, but some very deep conversations too. I was gutted when the Doctor said they’re moving me to the respiratory wing today. Single rooms and very specific, but I’ve lost my new best mate!! We’ve already swapped phone numbers…

It’s pneumonia, and I’m in hospital . not much more to add than that. I’ve never know pain like it. I will be here a while . love always Barb x x

A Walk in the Woods – Design of the Week

A Walk in the Woods – Design of the Week

Hi there Thanks for popping in, and thanks for sending love and positive energy our way today. The funeral went very well indeed; I think Dad would have been very happy to see so many old friends and family gather. It was such a gentle affair, the sun was shining and the service was perfect. Lovely music, beautiful photographs and a fun and real eulogy. In short, a true celebration of Dad’s life. Unfortunately, I’ve pinched a nerve in my…

One Day at a Time

One Day at a Time

Hi there Thanks for popping in. It’s been a funny old day. We had such a great evening yesterday. Bowling was a scream, and Dave and I did quite respectably for the oldies! But this morning I woke up and reality hit me. Slammed straight into me. I went off to pottery for a couple of hours this morning, thinking that would redirect my thinking, and I did what I needed to do for sure, but my heart wasn’t in…

Today well lived…

Today well lived…

Hi there Thanks for popping in. We have a verse which has been made into a stampset and a Groovi plate. Today Well Lived is actually an ancient Sanskrit verse. Here’s the unabridged version, and I’d like to introduce it as today’s quote # 28 Look to this Day, for it is life – the very life of life. In its brief course lie all the realities and truths of existence the joy of growth the glory of action the…

Young at heart

Young at heart

Hi there Thanks for popping in. The family is starting to gather for the funeral on Monday. Our Mark and his lovely girlfriend Alex just landed from San Francisco, and Grace’s beau Mark flies in tomorrow from New York. The energy in the house is young and bubbly. Lots of laughter, eating Caterpilllar cake and story-telling. These people are all the tonic we need. There’s nothing quite like youth for lifting the spirits. They come bearing love and joy –…

Get Fresh with Paul on Friday

Get Fresh with Paul on Friday

Hi there Thanks for popping in. Had a good day today with Mum and Grace. This too shall pass. Had to chuckle at your acronym guesses from yesterday. Blimey! Remind me not to get on the wrong side of you girls!! Actually, here are the answers: PYFI = Put Your Filter In RTR = Read The Room. Hahaha. Punch your face in!! Now I’ve heard it all!!! It is good to laugh though. Paul is covering me on TV tomorrow,…

We can’t help the thoughts…

We can’t help the thoughts…

Hi there Thanks for popping in. It’s been a long day, productive but draining. Not made any easier by some woman at pottery who ran at the mouth about stuff that was upsetting. Upsetting to me. Probably not to anybody else, but certainly to me. PYFFI ! I wanted to yell at her, or even just PYFI. Or RTR! But of course, I didn’t. Would serve no purpose. Instead, in true English style, the wall went up, I moved to…
