Tuesday – And the hours roll back..

Hi there

Thanks for popping in.

Trip down Memory Lane it is then! I scrolled back through my photos to a year ago today. And lookie lookie! Teabags! Remember this? I do love our Linocut stamps too! They are right up my street…

I was filling one of our lovely little water colour Petite Journals with Teabag images. It really was a pleasure to do! Pity I haven’t had time to finish it. YET. There’s that lovely little word again. YET.

There’s also a smashing A4 Sampler stampset of little lino cut snapshots. Love that arty grunge look

There are so many different flavours of art, aren’t there? I must say, I do enjoy linocut printing and mono printing. There’s so much scope! Just type lino in the search box on our website, and you’ll see how much I love lino cuts! HERE

The teabag idea evolved into our Tea Infusion Papers…HERE

And the Tea Infusion Papers evolved into a new Landscape Collage Technique, which we trialled at the retreats at the start of this month.

Next stop an online Tutorial course, learning how to make another Collage landscape with me, The Lighthouse. You enrol, we send you the papers and materials. We do a LIVE session together on October 12th. But even if you can’t make it, you can still join in with the course, watch the recording, and craft along with me. Happy days. HERE

The point I am making here is this: We did Teabag art at the Clarity Retreat last year. Remember?

A year later, we’re still exploring Japanese art, we‘re drawing teapots and Kimonos in the SHAC. And we’ve developed that simple teabag art from about a year ago into a fabulously good looking collage canvas. We’ve developed superb Tea Infusion Collage papers, we’ve invested in quality printed paper pads, we’ve followed up with BOW-WOB Papers – which have taken us down a whole other road – thanks to Sam Crowe!

I think that’s the essence of being creative. To keep blazing a trail down the road less travelled, to keep thinking and making, thinking and making, thinking and making. One step at a time. The definition of creative lies in the word itself: CREATE. If you are creative, you create. You have an idea, then you use that idea to make something. That’s about it.

The gift of creativity. Priceless.

Love always,

Barb x x x

  1. Hard to believe that’s a year ago! I remember my Husband shouting in to me when he saw the teabags drying on the windowsill….”Are we on an economy drive?”

  2. It’s great the theme has continued for so long ! I haven’t caught up with tea pot yet let alone kimono ! I did do the geisha in April 2020 though, I just looked back to see when it was ! X

  3. Beautiful artwork – I remember that!
Wonder what will come out of this next year…….just keep on creating…..! xxx

  4. Yes tea bag art! I must revisit this again. From time to time I look back on previous retreat work and it always inspires me

  5. I did find a stash of dried T bags the other day whilst having a bit of a tidy up on my desk, really need to get the stamps out & complete some projects. Thanks for the reminder but can’t believe it was a year ago when we first did these – where has that time gone to ?

  6. Those mini Lino cuts sat in my drawer for a while but yesterday I got them all mounted up and put in their own storage box. Today I stamped up a load of toppers ready to be coloured tomorrow. I am so pleased with how they stamped, every one a winner. Thank you Barb.
Looking forward to the weekend shows.
    Stay safe.

  7. I can remember my friend coming round for a cuppa one afternoon, she walked into the kitchen to see all these teabags drying on the window sill. Bless her, she didn’t say a word her face was a picture, I could just tell she was thinking ‘surely things can’t be that bad’? I sent her a Birthday card about a month later using the tea-bag art I’d created and she thought it was really amazing. We laugh about that day often when we get together🤣.

Lovely memories, and it’s all because we enjoy crafting it all its different forms. Thank you so much for inspiring us to try all these different arts xXx

  8. I doubted that I could do the college piece, partly because I had had an awful journey the day before. However, despite getting into a real mess to start with, I did get it sorted, and went on, after getting home, to repeat the whole thing successfully as a birthday present for my grandson. I learned so much, as I have done at every Clarity Retreat since I started. Thank you, Barbara, for all you do for us, teaching us to develop confidence in ourselves. xxx

  9. I think I’ve got a bit stuck trying to make things, rather than just playing and enjoying the process. I think an experimental session is called for to get me going again!

  10. Hello Barb, loved looking through these photos, really beautiful art and works perfectly with the Japanese images. Also the little Lino cut sampler set, makes such lovely little notelets. Always inspiring to see posts like this, gives us a prompt to revisit things we enjoyed. Looking forward to the birthday weekend shows. Take care everyone. Bx

    1. I avoid looking back through my last years photos, because seeing my Dad is too sad to bear. But I must say, there is so so much art there! We are very prolific, we crafters!!

  11. I loved the teabag stamping – still using it now! I’m always so inspired on the retreats- and now there’s the Collage online and the November workshop to look forward too as well.
Clarity is the gift that keeps on giving xx

  12. It’s one to revisit for sure. If only I could remember where I put the bag of teabags! Looking forward to the weekend shows. X

  13. I did start a petite journal of teabag art myself, mines not finished either, but I do know where my stash of teabags are, after putting them in a safe place in one of the kitchen cupboards, and look at the jar they are in almost every day, and one of these days I shall have a play again. xx

    1. Me too, Janine. That’s the lovely thing. It’s always there for us, when the urge grabs us xxx I’m talking about our little teabag journals!

  14. Thank you Barbara for sharing your amazing talents. You truly are so inspiring. I always learning so much from you.
I am always in awe of the fabulous art pieces, tips and techniques that you generously share.
Your blogs are the best. I appreciate and admire the time and energy you put into each blog.
I would love to attend a retreat or Clarity Days- live in Canada so fingers crossed I can make happen.
Thank you to you and your team for the most creative ideas. Also, for the best products and exceptional quality products in the industry.
