Oh Happy Day! We’re in the SHAC? Not yet.

Oh Happy Day! We’re in the SHAC? Not yet.

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Before you wonder why I’m shouting about the SHAC today, when we‘re having a little break until October, well it’s Monday, and I have been thinking about things. This daily blog is a moving feast, right? So I’ve decided to modify our little verse which we wrap the weekly blogs around.

Monday’s Blog - We’re in the SHAC!
Tuesday’s blog - The clock goes back.

So when we do get back together in the SHAC on OCTOBER 7th at 10am, I’ll be able to link our morning’s get together to this ‘ere blog. I have been admiring all the fabulous K for Kimonos on the Clarity facebook page. Very beautiful. I would like to showcase them here, together with my finished one too. But that’ll take a little time. Always thinking, always working on something. Day off? Are you kidding?

I’ve already done a voiceover this morning! It’s for the new Christmas Open Days VT which is supposed to be going on TV this Birthday weekend. So I’ve written and done the voice bit, and hopefully Jim’s done the filming bit, and we can sync the two parts tomorrow, when we‘re back at work. Watch this space. Wanna hear the voice bit? Hang on..what if I press this button…

Nope. See? You never know till you try something whether it’s going to work or not! 😂😂😂😂 Let‘s hope Jim has more luck than me. I daren’t call him today though! It’s Bank Holiday Monday!

Either way, tickets are available for both the Open Days AND the workshops on the Sunday.

CLICK HERE to investigate you Open Day tickets. By the way, each ticket enters you into a draw for a lovely Clarity Christmas Hamper treat too.

CLICK HERE to investigate our Workshops too. The Online Collage Workshop is proving very popular too. Thank you xx

CLICK HERE for the Online Lighthouse Collage Landscape workshop. We upgraded our platform tariff, so you can still join in if you fancy xx The LIVE session is scheduled for October 12th. But even if you can’t make it then, you will have access to the tutorial video, and we will of course send you the material.

Right. Next thing: September Newsletter. And then TV prep. I will feel happier if I get a couple more demos under my belt. And why aren’t I making my hubby breakfast? He’s at work, cutting out the rest of the 10,000 5×5 white card blanks!

Have a nice Monday.

Love always

  1. Sounds a busy day off! and you’ve done a lot before I’ve even got started on the ironing ! I did mange to start two Groovi cards yesterday after a little break and hope to finish them today. Looking forward to the online workshop but lots to happen before then, including your lovely trip and Mark’s wedding ! We have a week away next week with both boys, wives and a dog, looking forward to that especially as weather looks to be good. Have a good week and thanks for the blogs. Well done Dave too! X

    1. Thank you for always leaving a message Jackie. I know you have done so since the very beginning – and it is greatly appreciated. I don’t think folks think I read what they write . But I always do!! That’s why I’ve decided to write back now- so you know! Xxx

      1. Aww, thank you, I always thought you read them but it would be impossible to answer everyone – you’d never get anything done ! I don’t think I’ve missed many ! Sometimes it’s good to reply and get something off my chest too ! Xxx

  2. Morning Barbara.
Days off are over rated, 🤣
As a Primary school teacher, there really wasn’t such thing as a day off. Holidays were accompanied by endless, marking and prep. Planning and re- planning, and like yourself, always thinking of new ideas to motivate, having to work at least one term ahead.
Rest assured we all appreciate your ever whirring brain, in order to come up with new ideas to keep US motivated.
    Thank you.
    Have a lovely day. X x X

  3. You sound really excited, rightly so good, new, achievable ideas will do that.
When I was working I used to go in, all excited, and say “I was under the shower this morning and I had an idea”. (The shower was my thinking time). They probably rolled their eyes but indulged me – the ideas were usually sound.
My niece and I are desperate to get to do your workshop in November (if places are still available) but my brother-in-law is very seriously ill and normally my sister, neice and I all go together to Dutton. I don’t feel it appropriate to ask my sister about planning in the future.
On a brighter note I love the new Monday and Tuesday rhyme (despite just minutes ago reply to you Sunday blog 😂).

    1. Totally get it Lynn. Leave it till the last minute. You can always come last minute. And I’ll save you a seat at the workshop xxx

  4. Signed up for the Lighthouse and products have arrived. Tickets received for an Open Day so all ready. My family don’t understand that I like to be organised. Hope Dave manages to finish his printing. Bit chilly in my craft room this morning.
    Take care.

  5. Hi there, you have been busy this morning but quite understand – its better to get things sorted that need to be done then you can relax & enjoy the rest of the day. I always say what jobs are not done by lunchtime ( we do have a late one) can wait until another day unless it is vital.
These days Bank Holidays don’t have the same ring to them as they did when we were working so we tend to do much the same as any other day.
I have the collage workshop pack ready & waiting along with the latest die & stamp set for the craft along but we can’t make the Open days as it is the week of family birthdays – Mom will be 96 & we will be a few years younger !! We normally come down for a few days but its not fair to leave her on her own for her birthday.

    1. 96! Wow!! What a grand age!! Totally understand why you won’t make the OD in November ❤️❤️❤️

      1. Thanks for taking the time to reply to us all today & yes 96 is a great age. She still lives on her own be it that I keep things ticking over with shopping & washing while she looks forward to Bingo, Yoga, Art Meditation & knitting for Premature babies – yes her social calendar is busier than mine !! so glad she chose to downsize & move to a retirement complex nearer to us 2 years ago xx

  6. WOW what a pro-active Bank Holiday Monday you’re having. I always think it feels so good when you can tick off items of that ever growing list, it makes the hours you do have to yourself feel even more special.

And, as far as not contacting a work colleague on a weekend/bank holiday, I’ve never heard of anything so daft! They’ve really surpassed themselves this time… think they should be renamed the ‘Ministry of silly ideas’ … Let’s hit the little people just a little bit more!! Makes my blood boil….. and breath!!

Got my tickets for the Christmas Open Days really can’t wait what BRILLIANT days they are!!

October seemed so far away, I decided to re-watch the shac from the beginning so it still feels like I have a mate round to share a cuppa each day. You’re keeping me company while I sit crafting, I find having someone friendly and familiar talking in the room is really calming. Can’t believe how much has been achieved. You are a star!! xXx

  7. Gosh!! You have been busy, while I’ve not done much at all apart from making a home made chicken soup and humming and having as to strip the bed as the sun is trying it’s best.

  8. Love the change to your Blog verse, Barb! Makes so much sense. October is not too long to wait for the SHAC return and it will be well worth it if it means you and Dave get away for a well deserved holiday out in the States! Much re-charging of the creative batteries, lots of family wedding and, hopefully, very little work!
I’ve got my tickets for the Lighthouse Workshop, Christmas Open Days and an inky/arty workshop with your good self! Now I’ve noticed that the date of the workshop clashes with my granddaughter’s 6th birthday! Grandpa is going to be in the doghouse for missing the family party unless he can come up with a suitably impressive birthday present!
Talking of birthdays, I’m really looking forward to Clarity’s 31st at the weekend and what innovative and inspirational goodies you have lined up to tempt us! I might even be able to find something to “spend” some Clarity loyalty points on! 🤣🤣

    1. Thanks for always being there Ken. You are a true friend. That birthday present going to have to be special!!! Xxx

  9. oh, I won’t be able to join you on 12th October. That is our Golden Wedding anniversary and we’re taking the family away for the weekend. That is disappointing as I was looking forward to it – my husband was a merchant navy officer then a RNR officer so the lighthouse theme is perfect for him 😃
I’m sure you will manage without me though 😂😂

  10. I’ve had a very busy weekend with family so took a bit of time out today to just relax and recharge! Going to spend a bit of time at my craft desk now on a couple of new projects. Looking forward to seeing folk at the Open Days and the workshop will be such a treat!
Hope you get a bit of down time with Dave today (while the sun’s still shining) after all the jobs are done xx

    1. Thanks for posting! Yes, The Open Days will be very Special. And you’ll be demonstrating too!! Even sweeter!!!

  11. I have been enjoying the nice long weekend – tired now though!

I am coming to the open day on the Saturday. A friend and I are travelling down on the Friday, sharing a room at the Hamlet Hotel and then setting off back home after the open day! Looking forward to it!

    Take care xxx

  12. Went with friends to the local food festival this morning, then cooked some chicken for my dog when back home, then out into the garden to give the dwarf Lilac a trim as it was spouting out all over and getting too big for its boots Now off to look at some companion papers, to cut another doodle circular die to finish off a birthday card, which I have to take into work tomorrow. Have a nice rest of the day. xx

  13. Love the inky/stencil/layers that you have posted on face book. Like several others I find bank holidays underwhelming now I no longer have to go to work and the weather is always awful as well. Really looking forward to the Shac beginning again in October. Doing the Shac on a Monday morning starts the week off on a good note for me. Really hope you and Dave have a fabulous relaxing time with all the family and enjoy the celebrations- you both deserve it xxxx

    1. Thanks for leaving a message Bev. Always look out for you. I know what you mean about holidays. I feel the same xxx

  14. Not contacting staff on a weekend??? Ha Ha !!! When I was working I was contacted any time on evenings and weekends, even had the directors drop by for some information. When we moved we went ex-directory – problem solved.
Until…..hubby was driving down the M4 on the way to the main office when his mobile went off. It was the MD wanting him to explain to his son how to correct a computer problem. Got quite annoyed when hubby told him “not while I’m driving”. He changed his mobile number so it didn’t happen again.
We worked for the same firm and we are glad we are no longer at their beck and call.
Sounds like you are going to have a hectic few days prepping for the TV shows and setting the stage for your absence in September. It’s great that you have Paul and a super team to hold the fort while you are away.
The new paper collage looks wonderful but I really cannot take on another crafting element. The days and weeks go by so fast it’s hard to fit in all I want to do since I turned 80. I seem to have less energy these days and so much more to do now hubby is so unwell and cannot help.
Love that the blogs are coming more frequently and the change to the poem is apt.
    Stay safe.

  15. Well I have to say I haven`t done a thing today, now that`s not a day off, it is being totally LAZY as I am a Pensioner so have No work commitments to class this as a legite day off, Where is that naughty step I think I might be on it for quite a while. I am pleased that their is no Shac until October as I can catch up on some of the Alphabet I haven`t completed. Barbara you have done yourself proud as I have seen what you will be show casing on C@C, I will be watching and taping as well, we won`t even go to purchasing as I have already allocated money aside, so I am going to do the Step by Step now, hope Dave has finished those card blanks and that you are now resting and wouldn`t a Bowl of Catherines Chicken Soup go down well. Crusty Brown loaded with butter to soak up all the liquid mmmmm nice. Have a great Holiday LOL Jilly XXX

  16. Hi Barb, well I work in IT, but the company I work for is US based, and they basically have teflon shoulders when it comes to laws like this. So it will be interesting to follows what unfolds. Love the change to the poem, can’t wait to see if you change the rest. Hope Dave managed to finish the cards. Take care all. Bx

  17. No bank holiday for us in Scotland, except for the non-Scottish banks!!! I’ve done a pilates class this morning, then GP appointment after lunch! Then I finished a great book recommended to me by my neighbour – Tuesdays with Morrie – a book that will stay with me forever x
