This Must Be The Place

This Must Be The Place

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. And thanks for watching me hop about on Create & Craft yesterday. I do love building scenes and cool quotes. Well, here’s a demo I have rustled up to music, which showcases both! Bingo! I also used one of those super new plaid stencils in the background on a Gel Press…

Here’s a list of the ingredients, with links to our website….

It’s a seriously serious sale! Anything from 40 to 70% off. But the doors close at midnight tonight, so do go investigate. Prices go back up tomorrow.

Back to the little video. I love making prints like this. One sheet makes so many card toppers! And you will notice that I use the plaid pattern in the background to perch the tiny silhouettes on. These are not just wee size – these are wee wee!!

Let me just show you a quick photo step by step on how I made the grungy background, and how you can make a lovely matching envelope for your notelets too…

Painty background:

Drop 2 tiny amounts of acrylic paint onto your brown craft mat, roll out with a brayer, then spritz with water. Lay the card on top of the mess – and rub the back. Spritz again, and repeat. You will get 4 or 5 backgrounds out of this one move. Which paint? I used Daler Rowney – ALSO IN THE SALE!!

Matching Envelope

Cut a POST-IT to mask off the addressee area – like a faux label. It will stick on the back. Flip over, secure to stencil, then brush a matching ink colour (ALSO IN THE SALE!!), using one of our Stencil Brushes (errrr…yep, you guessed it! ALSO IN THE SALE!!)

Let’s tempt you with a little bloggy competition… Which ink pad do you think I used to make the envelope? Let me know below which ink pad you think, and if you’re correct, you will go into a draw for a £20 Clarity gift voucher. Come on! Gottabeinittowinit…Somebody has to win, and it could be YOU!!

  1. I reckon it is Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.
Thanks for the step by step instructions & a little brain teaser – as you say you have to be in it to win it. Off to check my stash of paint & large stencil card x

  2. Thanks for the video – great help. Just been catching up the snow globe demo you did yesterday, hope I’ll remember it when I get to have a go!

I’m deliberating about the ink pad but going to go for Distress Oxide – peacock feathers. I ordered stormy sky at the weekend but don’t think that is bright enough. What a good idea for an envelope !

Looking forward to your class in October, put myself on the list, that was a lovely surprise in the Shac today. Thanks xx

  3. wow, I just love how you make art come alive. you have given me so much inspiration to try something new. love watching you being creative, and listening to all your stories. you k ow STUFfF😄🦋🌻
I think you used Distress Oxide”broken china”
can’t wait for your online workshops gor the Collage landscape lighthouse- looks amazing.
thank you so much for all your inspiration ❤️

  4. Loving this summer sale – already picked up a few new distress oxide ink pads!

Great idea for the mask on the envelope to leave an area for the address on the envelope! My guess for the inkpad is archival in aquamarine. It looks to me to be a very similar shade to the peacock feathers distress inkpad and could perhaps be that one, but I imagine if you were planning to send it through the post you wouldn’t use a water-based inkpad on the envelope in case it gets caught in the rain on its journey, so I’ll go with the archival as the waterproof option!

  5. I think it is Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink pad. Beautiful colour. Enjoying all the demo’s and all the inspiration you give us. Many thanks.

  6. I think it’s distress oxide peacock feathers. I ordered this ink (amongst others,) with my sale purchases recently. I’ve never used stencils before and I’m looking forward to having a go. Thank you for the demonstrations and inspiration! xx

  7. I believe that Archival Morning Glory has been used to make the envelope. Thank you for all the inspiration and demos, always lovely to have a reference.

  8. that’s just brilliant! I treated myself to a large gel plate in the last members’ sale so going to have a go at this – I’m sure I’ve got some acrylic paint from a previous retreat in a bag somewhere….!! 😂
I think you used Peacock feathers on the envelope – one of my favourites!

  9. I think it could be Archival Morning Glory. Love all your demos. Got to catch up on this mornings SHAC as I was working. X

  10. I think you have used Archival Manganese Blue (but I may be wrong); still worth a go! Looking forward to hearing more about the online workshops you spoke about this morning. Good luck to everyone and best wishes Clarity Team.

  11. Thank you for the step by step and video (not that I’ve watched it yet) but note made, a treat for another day. So many lovely blue shades of ink, so I’m plumping for Archival Mermaid Lagoon, sounds a lovely place, even if its not the right answer! xx

  12. Fabulous little video and give away. I think it’s Paradise Teal from the Ranger Archival Inks. Very simular to Garden Patina in the smaller Wendy Vecchi range of colours. Just 😍
    All very beautiful.
    lots of love Tina.x

  13. Can’t decide on the colour, there are so many similar, but it has to be an Archival ink so it doesn’t bleed if it rains when it is being delivered.
Smashing idea for envelopes, I tried this last night (mon) with the sun ray stencil. Worked a treat. Looking forward to receiving the new stencils.
    Stay safe.

  14. Hello Barb, such a great idea with the envelope, leaving space for the name and address, will definitely give that a go. I think the ink is Distress Mermaid Lagoon, it is bluer than Peacock Feathers. Going to watch the video now. Can’t wait for my sale order and my stencils to arrive. I was bouncing around like Tigger yesterday as I tried the BOW-WOB papers with the Gel Press, and it worked first time, now I just want to do more. I actually got multiple backgrounds done. Happy Bunny, first time playing with my gel plates in quite a while. Take care all, this weather is so strange. Bx

  15. MIA yesterday, so just catching up. I think it was peacock feathers ink. Looking forward to seeing Paul in action with the ODS.

  16. Always forget to decorate my envelopes so this is a great tip! I’m going for archival distress broken china so it doesn’t run in the rain x
