A Christmas Project – or Four!
Hi there.
Thanks for popping in. Thought I’d blog something which I saw Paul make at the weekend, which was very lovely – and really easy!
Have you seen the new Christmas Round dies? They are beautiful. Clever Mel drew these. If you get all 4, then you actually only pay for 3.
So let’s see how they work.
Because they don’t have an outer cutting edge, they work brilliantly to create the coolest apertures.
Here we are making 4 papercuts in one large 8”x 8” black card.
Tape them in place with low-rack tape, to secure them, and then run them through your mangle of choice.
Mine is the Gemini. I think it is excellent.
Check out the detail of these dies! Absolutely perfect. Each one is a miniature work of art. 3” diameter actually.
Now for a little highlight in the background. Designer parchment is perfect for the job, because it lets through a little light.
Look! By attaching the parchment to the back ( vibrant side peeping through the front cuts)
this creates a beautiful translucent effect.
And when you get up real close, you can see the magic.
This is using my favourite parchment sheet. In fact, we put together a mini pack, called Barb’s Favourite for just that reason!
Anyway, thank you Paul, for the inspiration.
Time to stop and put the kettle on….
Love & Hugs,
Barb

PS I’ll a winner for the canvas/card giveaway tomorrow, if I may. I want to sit down and have a good read and a chuckle first.

What a lovely card. Those dies look great. I’m glad to see that you are going to have a sit down and hopefully a nice cup of tea! Take care Barbara, love and hugs, Gilly xxx
Hi bloggy friends – I hope that you are all as well as can be. Things have been very traumatic here with Neill. He has been home a week now, but still in severe pain from the fall. One broken rib and a torn chest muscle – 10 weeks to heal, we are told. They still didn’t find out the answer to his heart problem, so they have implanted a recorder in his upper chest area. It is the size of a large memory stick and he has got a remote control to switch it on if/when he has more problems with his heart. It will record what happens to his heart and hopefully provide some answers. He has got another test on 3rd October. Thank you for your lovely comments to me on here. Love and hugs, Gilly xxx
Will be thinking of you and Neill and hope they can give you some reassurance on 3rd. October.
The same goes for me. X Take care Gilly.
Hi Gilly,
How awful for Neill, I hope he is not in too much pain. I’m also hoping that everything goes well between now and Oct 3rd ( that’s my sister’s birthday) and that you are taking good care of yourself as well. You know that my thoughts and prayers are with you both for a good recovery . Love and hugs Alison xxx
Love and hugs to you and neilxxx
Oh my goodness Gilly, sending hugs to you both. That’s very technical isn’t it, I hope he doesn’t loose the remote! I’ll be thinking of you both xxx
Good idea, I really like that your dies have no outside edge, makes them so versatile. Just had a Clarity parcel and have finally got the round fairy stamps which are so beautiful! As I looked at them I thought how great they would be as dies and stencils. Hope you ate relaxing today after your busy weekend. Xx
Afternoon bloggy friends, hope you ate all getting some sunshine today like we are down here in Kent. Rather warm for September! Going to be filing my Fresh Cut dies later into their new storage folder. Xx
Hi Donna,
Enjoy playing with your your new stamps. I really love the aperture dies as well – I see there’s more out this week ! Hasn’t been as warm up here I can tell you! Love and hugs Alison xxx
Beautiful. So lovely and so was yesterday. Thank you so much for making my day
Love Anne (Reading)
So simple but very effective. Love all the Fresh Cut dies and look forward to the ODS this week.
Enjoy your cuppa.
That is beautiful and I am looking forward to seeing Paul demonstrate the dies. Enjoy your cuppa! Annette X
I remembered to vote in the Craft Awards today. Thanks Paul, for the reminder! X
Very lovely project today, and quite simple really for Christmas cards. I still need to start mine, but I’m trying not to think about it yet! Enjoy your sit down and giggles at the comments x
Lovely project, not yet ventured into the ‘design’ dies but did treat myself to the full Groovi/Picot die set after resisting temptation at Leyburn! They also cut beautifully and I’ve used them at least once a day since they arrived. Looking forward to Paul’s shows, recorder will be set too!
I love the Freshcut dies and they are so easy to use with Designer papers and parchment for a terrific effect
Fantastic design idea x. Glad the show went well at Ally Pally xx
I had a little light bulb moment looking through that demo Barb! Can you remember at your pre-wedding open day, I showed you my favourite backing ‘paper’ idea, you know, the one made from the colour catcher sheets? Well, I think they would be great with the Christmas round dies. I have accrued so many of the sheets, I could make a load of Christmas cards. Thank you and thank Paul, for your never ending inspiration!
P.s. it was great to see you yesterday, even if it was just a fleeting visit! Love always R xx
Hi Barb,
What a brilliant idea – I think I might be copying that one!!! Love these dies and the new Christmas ones also look fabulous although I might have to put off buying them just now! Hope you can have a bit of a rest now. Love and hugs Alison xxx
Hi bloggy friends,
Hope everyone is as good as possible. Well, I should be in Wales now but we have cancelled our trip because of the weather unfortunately. I didn’t fancy being stuck in the hotel for a opulent of days if the weather was as bad as they predicted. Also didn’t fancy going out for a walk in strong winds – it would be my luck to get blown off a cliff!!! Anyway I might get around to starting some Christmas cards instead! Love and hugs to all
I received my clarity parcel today thank you clarity towers couldn’t resist yesterday day special so another one will be on its way soon .

Love and hugs to all on the blog xxx
Great card paul loving them all . Hope your all been able to start winding down after busy weekend not that you ever get to slow right down night night sleep well xxx
Love the way you have used these dies and parchment Barbara, and the light shines through the parchment beautifully. I hope you have managed to take it a bit easier today. x
Hello Barb, such a lovely effect with the parchment behind the apertures. Hope you managed to put your feet up for a while. Take care all. Bx
Dear Barb
Love the fresh cut dies. I make mostly small cards and I find them a bit large. The Christmas 3″ rounds are perfect size and I hope there will be more that size in the future.
I have been with you for quite some time and intend to stay.
All the best. Pat Bx
Hi Barbara
Isn’t this lovely, and so easy too! I’ve got a couple of your favourite packs, they are lovely and a good price too. I’ve resisted these rounds so far, I don’t know how long that will last!
Love Diane xxx
