A SHAC Spring clean!

A SHAC Spring clean!

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. It’s that time of year, when the days are getting longer, the sun is peeping out, leaves are starting to appear on the trees, the birds have taken up residence in the Yew trees outside our bedroom window – and are twittering up a veritable symphony every morning! The dawn chorus is quite something! There’s a particular stencil which always springs to mind, when I think of the birds in the trees in the garden. It’s this one. I love it. Our Woodland birds, by darling Annie. CLICK HERE to find.

Annie, sweet Annie. We’ve been putting together a collection of her artwork, and I want to showcase them on telly soon. Really lovely. She was such a clever girl.

So today – and I have to seize the moment when it comes upon me – I decided it was time to start DEEP Spring cleaning. This is when the German Hausfrau training kicks in. One room a day is about all I have steam or time for. So I started upstairs, with our bedroom. To say you could write ”PIG” in the dust is an understatement! Honestly, my German Mum (she who taught me everything I know when it comes to housekeeping) would shake her head in disbelief! Ah well. It is nice and clean now. Things is, housework’s such a thankless task, innit? Nice clean bedding and spit spot polished furniture. And within a day it’s started going downhill again! Mind you, there’s nothing like clean bedding, is there.

But I’m a working girl, so I have to spread the love! We had a meeting at Clarity Towers yesterday, and concluded that the Clarity website also needs a Spring clean. But where to start?! We started with the landing page and more specifically, the SHAC section. It needed updating and a little bit of TLC. So we got our www.mop.com out, and had a good old sort out! Go and have a look.

Next room, the Gallery. In fact, we’ve closed it temporarily, so we can completely rethink it. That needs more than a refresh! But we’ll work it out. There’s just so much to do, and the only way is one day and one thing at a time. Quite honestly, it’s a full time job for at least 2 people! And it’s like the Fourth Road bridge: by the time you’ve painted it, you can go back and start painting again! It can be quite daunting when you start listing all that needs to be done – especially because I‘m not a frontend developer. Wish I were, but I ain’t. 🤪

You cannot be all things, can you? Better to list all the things you CAN do, not the things you can’t. Better to list the things you HAVE achieved, not the things you haven’t.

And on that philosophical note, I shall go get on with the prep for Friday’s TV show. That I CAN do!

Oh! Before I forget. We’ve turned the Calligraphy girls into a Groovi plate too! And you’ll find them hanging out in that new SHAC room, HERE!

We’ll use the Groovi plate AND the stampset in the next FREE Craftalong, scheduled for Thursday 30th May FACEBOOK LIVE.

Love always

  1. Gosh ! You have made me feel tired already! Though I did manage to change the bedding today!! And watch Paul! Been sitting down since just recovering!
Hope the spring cleaning goes well! Am off to look at thee stamps and groovi of the ladies, then I shall look at your titillating of the web!!

  2. Wow you’ve been busy! And yes you’re right…a fresh bed is just the best! Another thing I love is seeing washing blowing on the line! There’s something very satisfying about it. I’m sure a psychotherapist could explain why that is!!
I’m off to scan the new website now.
Have a great day Barbara x

  3. Love a good spring clean. I’m busy repotting my houseplants, which all seem to have burst from their pots at the same time. X
Will check out the new page later. X

  4. Hi Barb, I did notice I got a funny response from your blog link earlier. Always good to have a good sort out. Want to come do mine 🙂 Take care all. Bx

  5. I agree, nothing like clean bedding, especially when they have dried outside. As to Spring Cleaning I start with all good intention but often get way laid when find something I have forgotten all about.
Off to check out the website to see what is occurring !!

  6. Like you I have to be in the mood to tackle the Spring cleaning but seeing how the weather has reverted back to Autumn I really am not ‘in the mood’ so it will just have to wait. When it comes to the gallery I have always struggled to find artwork associated with the stamps. I know the design team are very good at posting their samples on Facebook but then I can never find them again. It would be lovely to have them all in one place so to speak. Off to the website now to see what’s changed.

  7. I find it strange that I enjoy cleaning but not housework: I expect it’s as you say as soon as it’s done it goes downhill the next day.
I decided a couple of weeks ago that I would set aside a week to clean the conservatory from top to bottom inside and out. So satisfying to achieve the task.(tick!).

  8. Yes, Spring is here. The trees are shaking out their light green leaves and the countryside looks wonderful. The lighter evenings lift my spirits and I can craft longer.
I spotted the calligraphy fashion ladies Groovi plate and have started an order to be added to later. Could we please have a “wish list” added to the site so we can add to it from time to time? It would be very useful.
Housework is a rude word to me at the moment. As fast as I clean somewhere it seems to magically get dirty again and my OH doesn’t know what tidy means. It makes for hard work, back aches and creaky knees. A newly made bed with fresh sheets is a wonderful thing to climb into at the end of a tiring day.
Sorted my stencil stash today looking for one in particular and was amazed to see just how many I had. They are now in folders and easy to find. Another good job jobbed.
Early night for me now with a good book to finish before I go to sleep.
    Stay safe.

  9. Your bedroom sounds like mine was, I had a sudden urge last week to start with my bedroom, and work through the house, giving all the rooms a good spring clean, needless to say, not moved onto any other rooms yet! I tend to get waylaid with something, which brings things to a stop.
New stamps and groovi designs look great, they will go on my wish list. I will have to wait a few weeks before my next spend (well, that’s what I tell myself). Luckily I have this lovely stencil of Annies, I must get it out, and have a play.xx
