Be Positive! What a Relief!

Be Positive! What a Relief!

Hi there!

Thanks for popping in!

Remember the 3-way overlay stamps which sold out on telly on Sunday?

How about a technique I tried out for a demo?

I had actually rejected it, because it wasn’t good enough to my mind. Got left on the side. Ahhhh……

Then Dave came in and said, “Wow! I like that one.”

Then Paul came in and said, “Cor, I like this. How did you do this?”

Then finally, Becca came in this morning and said “I really like this one! How did you do it?”

So 3 strikes, and he’s back in the game!!! Resurrected!

1. Dust the bright Rainbow River designer card with talc.

2. Stamp the infill of one of the 3-way overlay flower stamps in Versamark. I went with the Cornflower.

3. Add clear embossing powder

4. Heat emboss to glaze.

5. Use a Die based black ink pad, like Distress or Adirondack, and literally coat the whole of the front with black in.

6. Allow the ink to dry, then wipe the flowers with a very oh-so-slightly damp tissue. The black ink will wipe off.

7. Use one of our blending tools to clean up the flowers. A little spit goes a long way with one of these!

8. Let’s do the opposite now! The obvious one. Stamp with a Blackout Radiance inkpad and again, sprinkle with clear embossing powder. Why not Archival Black? Well, a new Archival black ink pad might work, but the Blackout is much wetter and will stay wet longer for the powder to catch.

See? Nice and glossy.

9. Trim the card and mount the two little pieces on a 5” x 5” black cardblank

Easy when you know how.

Love & Hugs,

Barb

  1. These are both so pretty Barbara, and it just goes to show that we are not the best ones to critique our own work as we can be overly hard on ourselves, and these are definitely worth showing. x

  2. Hi Barbara
Aren’t they lovely, I’m glad you showed us what to do. Your trick of never throwing anything away works doesn’t it, if they were in the bin Paul Dave and Becca wouldn’t have seen them.
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends, hope everyone is ok, Alison are you behaving yourself. It’s been rather damp here today, in some ways a nice change from the heat yesterday. Sending hugs xxx

      1. Hi Diane – I hope that you are recovering well and that you are enjoying time with your daughter at home. Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

        1. Hi Diane,
Yes I’m behaving! Actually, I’ve been very good today – done some exercises and even got Dave to take me to a garden centre to get the final bedding plants. Was goosed afterwards but worth it! Love and hugs Alison xxx

  3. Aha Barbara! We are our own worst critic! It does sometimes take other people to tell us that our work is great!
Both look beautiful! Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

  4. Hi bloggy friends – wishing all of you a safe journey if you are going to The Open Days! Really wish I could be there! Maybe next year! Pam – have a great time there, love to you and Pete xxx
Alison – great news that you are making good progress now that you are at home and getting a better night’s sleep. Keep up the good work, but don’t overdo it! Neill says that he knows just what you are having to go through at the moment – but, as you well know, it is all worth it at the end of the day. Love and hugs, from us both xxx

    1. Thanks Gilly. It’s lovely having the support from people on here too. Say a big thank you to Neill, love and hugs Alison xxx

  5. Hello Barbara – love these, very effective. Received my parchlets yesterday. Love them. Playing around with them today, and discovered they are just right for the coasters you sell. Decided to make some for gifts. Have a good evening, lots of love Donna X

  6. Hi Barb,
Well I’m another one who is so pleased that you didn’t bin these. They are gorgeous. Really love them. You seem much more cheerful today I’m pleased to hear. Thank you for sharing these, love and hugs Alison xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Had quite a good day today even managed to get in and out of the car a couple of times! Won’t say it didn’t hurt, but I managed. I’m beginning to think that Barb could take a photo of the bruises on my hand, leg etc – I’m sure she would be able to make a masterpiece from it, the colours are very interesting and I’m sure she’d be able to see a landscape in there somewhere!!! Sending thanks, love and hugs to you all, Alison xxxx

      1. Haha! Great to see your sense of humour shining through Alison! Perhaps you should take a photo of them and email it to Barb!
It sounds as though you are doing really well – just be careful! Sorry – I will stop nagging now. Love and hugs from us both xxx

  7. They are beautiful and would really make a lovely set of notelets for a gift. So pleased your A team made you realise they were worthy of a blog post!

  8. Very clever and fabulous. I will have to wait a while to try it out though as I left my heat gun in the village hall after Maria’s class on Saturday. Maria came to the rescue though and picked it up, wonderful girl. Lovely demo. xx

  9. Hello Barb, well I think you have a full compliment of strikes here. I think this is just beautiful, and wouldn’t they make lovely framed images side by side on the wall. Glad the others gave them the thumbs up. Take care all. Bx
