Towit Towoooo! The Owls sold out!

Towit Towoooo! The Owls sold out!

Hello there!
Thanks for stopping by here on Advent Day No. 8.
I am hoping that you don’t mind my not doing Christmas for 24 straight blogs;
 I don’t think I could take it!
Yesterday on the TV show, the Owls literally flew out,
and I didn’t get to do any artwork with them.
Mel drew them and they are fabulous!
I want to show you a simple inking trick too…
So here’s a cool step by step, using our Chromo Card – the ultra glossy stock. It is excellent for stamping on with both dye based ink and Archivals.
Let’s take a looook…
Attach the Chromo Card to the Flare Frame stencil
and run it through an embossing machine, if you have one,
like an Ebosser, and then stamp the little oak leaf stamp from the Stag set
(or any leaf stamp) through the apertures.
The ink pad is a blended one, made with
hence the various autumnal colours in one pad.

Fill the frame with leaves, (2nd generation ink – ink, blot, plot)

then brush lightly to and fro across the stencil

If you’ve got time and a very steady hand,
outline the lines of the stencil with a Distress Pen.
Wild Honey is great.

Buff it to a high gloss with a paper towel.

Now for the owls in the centre.
I want to mix two colours on the stamps itself, so here goes…
Add Coffee Archival to the bottom half of the stamp,

and Red Geranium (fabulous colour) Archival to the top half.

Fan out a stencil brush with your fingers,
and brush the stamp from top to bottom just 2 or 3 times.

Now plant the image in the centre of the frame.

Inks are beautifully blended, and have a super texture from the bristles of the brush.

Make another panel,  mat and layer to finish.

Just for fun, let’s try another colour blend combination with the brush:

Excellent.

Ok. How about  Cornflower Blue and Sepia…
and I’ll use a heavier brushstroke…

 Love it! Especially the fingerprint!
Twit!

Anyway, that’ll do. I think you get the picture!
So let’s see….
The Archival Inks are excellent.
How about a little offer:
These 5 Archival Ink Pads (rrp £27.45) for just £20.
Cornflower Blue
Red Geranium
Olive
Sepia
Coffee

Woohoo!
much love,

  1. Oh wow! lovely effect! I've just ordered the owls, stag, and the stencils this afternoon from Clarity – should have added the chromo card. Will go back and do that and the ink pads I think as I don't think they are amongst my growing collection.! Suppose I'd better get the wild honey distress ink pad as well….. It's all too much ! I love how you've done the extra panel too. xx

  2. Barbara I have pulled a print of my gelli card with acrylic paints buff titanium stamped image with black Archival what is best to colour in with please ?xx

  3. Absolutely magnificent art work. The owl stamp is a must. Really enjoyed the programme and although my e-mail wasn't read out, I will have to (with trepidation) honour my promise to send a card to you, Dave and all at Clarity! Getting a bit too brave I think.
    Best wishes
    Anne

  4. So clever using the two ink colours on the same stamp – really effective, and a wonderful new stamp! I know how to get the fingerprints on my artwork already though!!! Susan x

  5. Hi Barb,
This was my favourite set on yesterday's show closely followed by the squirrel. I really like what you have done here especially blending the two colours on the actual stamp – very clever. This will be a must try once I get the stamp and stencil. Thanks for the inspiration. Love Alison xx

  8. Hello Barb, what a fab technique, need to try it with some of my other stamps as definitely did not get the chance to get the owls. Love the stencil and the stamp, one to get when available again. Love the ink pad offer – that may be one to go for. Have a great evening. Bx

  9. Hello Barbara. This is a lovely idea. Never tried brushing with stamps and ink. Gotta give it a go. This is a lovely stamp and really want that stencil. Just imagine what it would look like in the spring with flowers and pastel colours. You are such a star with all your lovely ideas. xx Margaret Col.

  10. A welcome break from all things Christmas!!! Its so easy to get caught up in all the rush and christmas card making – and then remember all of a sudden you have birthday cards to make etc!!! So you showing us what you were unable to show yesterday is just great! Not surprised they flew out – everyone loves Owls!!! Love the two tone effect – clever stuff!!!!

Hope you are well and can wind down a little for the holiday season before you jump on the Clarity bus again xx
