We stick together

We stick together

Hi there

Last week, at the end of the Sunday workshop, I found a tiny envelope on my desk in the hall as we were clearing up. It was an exquisite little thank you card, made by dear Zara Axton. We have been friends for years, and she is a staunch supporter of the SHAC and all things Clarity.

I decided to shine a little light on her little card. It is just so lovely. I am sure she won’t mind my sharing her Mini-make with you – I love it! Look….

Isn’t it delightful? Typically, I started figuring out where Zara had found the stamps from.

  1. The elephants. Well, I recognised them immediately as coming from the new little set we created for the Landscape 1-2-3 workshop. STA-AN-12145-A6 Ahh! There are the very appropriate words, too.

2. Next, I searched for the background stamp. This had me stumped, so I asked Jazz, our top designer who oversees all stamp and Groovi production. She knew immediately, that both the background stamp AND the grasses come from this A5 set STA-TR-11981-A5. We call this set Just Woodland and Birds. See? I should have known really. I LOVE this set! And Zara evidently does too.

I was just intrigued by this little card. How something so deliciously small could be so perfectly composed.

Now for the colour inks Zara used. Mmmm…. My guess is Crushed Olive and Seedless Preserves, but maybe also other colours too. What do you think? If Zara reads this blog, maybe she will help us out! Pretty please? xxx

And then all mounted on an ATC card and embedded, to add a lovely finishing touch. What a classy little piece of artwork! If you know Zara, you will totally understand. She is a class act, too.

Thank you Zara. You made my day when I found your card. I am sure our friends will appreciate it too.

Love always

  1. Beautiful card I am really live if the Clarity trend for mini makes. And all the little stamps are just so cute

  2. I love that stamp set too but have not used that little grungy background stamp. Now I have the inspiration there won’t be any stopping me. Thank you Zara ❤️

  3. Hi Barb,
Well you and Jazz know your stamps and inks! Correct on all of them. I am glad you liked this card, it was just a little off cut background but the mini makes are just perfect for using scraps in the huge box of “bits that will come in handy” and you produce so many lovely stamps that are just a joy to use.
Thank you and your team for a great weekend at Ditton, so much inspiration and fab to see so many Shac friends.
Have a lovely weekend everyone xx

  4. What a lovely card, small but perfectly formed. 😊 I have the ‘just woodland and birds’ stamp set and I’ve wondered about how I could use the little background stamp, now I know! Thanks Zara! (and Barbara for shining a light on it.) 😊
I sat next to Zara at your workshop after the Christmas 2024 open days, she was lovely company and very helpful too. A class act indeed!
Hi Zara if you’re reading this! 👋
    Jane xx 🌸🌼🌺

      1. Yes, it was fab! I couldn’t attend the latest workshop unfortunately, but I’m hoping to attend again the future so I might see you again then. 🤞
In the meantime, I’ll ‘see’ you in the SHAC!

  5. Aawwww how lovely was/is that. It just goes to show that in this digital age of I’ll just send a text message or what’s app that receiving a card can’t be beaten especially hand crafted ones. I know people who have kept every single card I have ever made them as it really makes them feel special as I have spent my precious time making it especially for them. Mind you the down side is, of course, they would be horrified to receive a shop bought card and would wonder what on earth they had done to offend or upset me.

  6. don’t know if it will accept my comment. Won’t even let me like without having to log in & who knows what my log in is! But it’s a lovely little card and a lovely post xx

  7. What a lovely little card – perfect in the design and the thoughtfulness behind it. That is a fab little.background stamp – I suspect Zara’s inspired more of us to put it into use now xx

  8. What a lovely card by Zara, its those little things like that, that mean so much to all of us in this fast moving technical world that we seem to live in now. When someone shows their appreciation like that you know that they really mean it & are grateful for what you have done for them.
Thank you for all the time you give to us but then by you sharing all the wonderful thoughts & ideas you & the Clarity Team have means we want to be part of that journey to so we make sure we add the products to our stash. Long may it continue although my husband did say he would let you know if you were ever short of anything we have it here in my craft room/warehouse !!
My plan for today is to catch up with the landscape projects that I put to one side as we were going down to Kent. I never did get to have a paddle in the sea at Folkestone but thoroughly enjoyed the two days at Ditton – again lots of ideas from the DT to put into action. Already one week has passed by – this time last week you were just doing the first raffle of the day x

  9. How lovely. Zara, you are clever and kind. Great idea to use up scraps, my box is bulging so I will have to get cracking on making more mini cards with the offcuts I have accumulated.

I finally submitted to temptation and ordered the hot foil kit as my old laminator is nearly 30 years old and my foil’s suitability is questionable. Now I really must start getting rid of very, very, old card making equipment which has not been used for years.

    Have a good weeekend.

  10. Dear Barb, thank you for sharing such a beautiful card and heartfelt blog with us. Zara’s card is so inspiring. Barb you and the whole Clarity team deserve all the thanks you get for keeping going in the face of adversity, bringing us amazing quality products and so much arty inspiration. Yes I have ordered the foiling kits and extra foil! Hopefully Hubby is at work when it arrives (already dispatched. WOW, what fantastic Customer service). I have a virtually new laminator, so hopefully it works ok. Raining Cats and Dogs here this afternoon, so indoors catching up on various things that need doing. Take care everyone. Bx
