In these boots? I don’t think so!
Hi there!
I was scrolling back through my photo library, looking for something specific. My oh my!! There’s so much artwork!! Years and years and years of projects, of step by steps. Crazy really. And I remember most of the artwork too. There’s a definite chronology, and I can see when Groovi entered the picture, when masks were introduced, when Linda came on board – it’s like a time lapse. But there‘s one collection of stamps which draws me back – again, and again and again. They were illustrated by our friend Mel Turner, and I LOVE THEM almost as much as I love her!
It’s these…and look at the price! I only just noticed that they are on offer!
First, in 2017, we went through the shape-fill phase. These boots and hats were perfect…especially the boots!
I developed a style with the help of our masks, which has proven pretty and timeless. All you need is a load of little landscape stamps and a shape to fill. It’s as interesting and fun to make now as it was in 2017…
I remember making a really poignant piece of artwork using these stamps when Orla Keily went into administration in 2018. It shocked me, that such an iconic designer could lose her business. If she can’t stay afloat, what chance has a girl like me got?! Spot the OK initials…
The thing is, these superb stamps haven’t seen the light of day in years. Except when Sam Crowe gets to play with them at the Open Days. Cos I know for certain, that they are her faves too. If you go to the website to investigate these formidable designs, check out the art samples which are posted too. CLICK HERE
It’s important to check back and see what’s in the cupboard. Actually, we don’t have many of these on the shelf. But there’s the good news! We can make more! Happy Days.
Pottery tomorrow. Come hell or high water, I’m dressing up warm, and going into the garage to throw some bowls and make a start on finishing Dad’s totem pole. It is time. But in these boots? I don’t think so!!
Love always,
Barb x x x

Have always loved this pic. I’m currently in the process of putting some boots, shoes and bags on Vinted, I know I wont wear the boots again, didn’t wear them a lot in any case, they were more for stroking! I have a nice collection and if I can make a little money from it I can spend it with you ! enjoy your pottery tomorrow xx
I bought these stamps when they were launched and have had many hours of fun with them.
Looking forward to Sunday. See you there.
Gosh – I remember you sharing these. The hats one definitely inspired some cards I subsequently made. I never invested in the boots – maybe now is the time!
I love all those ramps. Will have to get them out and have a play again. Going to the footy tomorrow for the first time in ages. Want to support the new manager. Have a great pottery session.
Lovely artwork xx
Have a great time with your pottery tomorrow, once you get started you will be fine & back in the saddle so to speak. Some downtime for you to enjoy.
I have just checked my stash & yes I have the boots !! so tomorrow once the ironing is done I am going to have a play with some of my stash. There have been so many great art pieces by everyone over the last few weeks that I don’t know what to do first but will give it a good go. x
Have a lovely throw down it’s about time! Enjoy your time in the garage and we are all looking forward to the end result.
Those boots and hats reminds me of the television series. House of Elliott. the costumes where fantastic. so much style. very sad story. The warehouse where the costumes was stored had a bad fire . so they stopped the series.
if you get a chance to watch its worth it. I would love to walk again just once in a pair of heals ❤ but I would fall over and brake my neck .
Great art, although I’m another one who would not be able to walk in those heels, I can go over on my heel even in flat shoes! Have a lovely time with your pottery tomorrow, pleased you are having some me time with clay. Enjoy. xx
Is it really that long ago that I took I inspiration from you for that boot card. I loved doing it and have done it many times since. The hats also make a great starting point for a landscape. I used to really like like it when Hochanda allowed you to delve back and use older stamps (as many newbies may not have seen them). I have to admit to though that my all time favourite is the fly away boy. Hope you have a lovely day getting back into the saddle of pottery – dress up warm though as it’s supposed to be really cold xxxxx
As soon as I saw the boot I thought “Wicked” (the movie) but then againg there would be wicked pain if I wore these🤣
Enjoy your special me time with the clay and lots of hot brews from Dave. I think every few months a “back in the archives “ show would be an excellent idea for those like me to show the fab back designs. I have had a knitting void and just re kindled it, In fact it’s coming to the football today! Thank you all
Lovely artwork. I remember it well.
It’s scary how time seems to have sped by since retiring about 13 years ago.
Wrap up warm and enjoy some time with happy memories of your dad as you work on the totem pole.
Hello Barb, a really lovely trip down memory lane. I have some stamps that I can use to do these sorts of scenes, but not the boot. Mmmm need to maybe order it methinks. I hope you enjoyed your pottery. We had snow overnight. Stay warm everyone. Bx
