New Tree stamps and Landscape masks
Hi there
After the SHAC this morning, where we taped together two pencils and went 3-D on a treble clef (don’t ask!), I spent the day alone in the workshop store room at Clarity, where we keep all the craft stash we use at retreats and courses. You know, ink pads, brayers, blending mats, pens etc etc Why? Because Linda and I are each hosting a one-day class the Sunday after the Open Days, and while Paul gets Linda’s materials ready, I’m in charge of my own! I’ve got about 4 more hours tomorrow morning to finalise it all, and then that job’s jobbed! A lot goes into these days! Tomorrow I’ll get all the project printing done too, so I can fill all the Guest folders. etc etc etc …
I’ve quite enjoyed today. Sometimes the brain needs a rest, and then counting card and paper is a pleasant distraction. It’s ticking a box, and saying, “done!” No matter how small the action, you can still tick a box and say “done!” Sometimes, when things are so overwhelming that the head goes into super spin cycle, I even write lists of things that would NEVER normally make the cut! Things that I just do in my stride, and don’t even think of as a job to do. Like Empty the dishwasher. Feed the cats. Make the bed. Clean my teeth. When you list all the little things you don’t even register when you’re doing them, you realise just how active you actually are! Added to which, it gives you that much needed sense of accomplishment, that feeling that you ARE getting stuff done – even when you think you’re hopeless.
On a creative note, I so enjoyed showcasing those landscape masks and tree stamps yesterday! What a great little collection of Nature stamps and masks. If you missed the demos, you can always go to our website and watch on Catch-up. CLICK HERE. The project downloads are there for you too. Just print them off and start storing them. It will be a perfect index of what was on when!
Those layering stencils are pretty cool too. All available HERE
Things are challenging right now, but we at Clarity are a resilient bunch, and we will get through all this upheaval and change. Sometimes I get hit by a wave of fear, like a physical shudder that goes through your whole body to the core. Have you ever experienced that? It’s not pleasant. But then I just get with my hands, keep busy, and guess what? Yep, it passes.
Today I was walking along one of the corridors at work and Jilly was standing just ahead as I paced towards her. “Need a hug?” she asked. “Yep. You?” I responded. “Yep, me too.“ So we took a minute, just to give each other a proper hug. And that helped a lot. There’s a lot of love and consideration at Clarity. There’s always somebody offering to make a cuppa, or making sure I’ve eaten. Sue offering mini Mars bars, Jim offering bananas. One of the guys found me in the Craft storeroom in the afternoon. We checked over some work, had a little banter, and then he said something very poignant: “We trust you, you know. We know it will be fine”. That hit home too.
Time to chillax.
Love always
Barb x x x

You are absolutely 100% right everyone needs a hug sometime, so just know there is always one here for you.
sending huge hugs. It will be fine.xxx
First time I sat in the Shac and drew with you this morning in quite a while, I think the last one I did was Ice Cream ! It was a lovely hour thank you. Saw you on Jancie’s FB live earlier. If you need a hug you know where we are. Hope Dave is feeling a bit better. Hugs x x
Sending big hugs to everyone.
Loved the show yesterday and the new products.
Drawing with two pencils is not as easy as it sounds!!
I was lucky enough to attend my first open day back in the summer, absolutely loved it. It reignited my crafty mojo and I can assure anyone that £10.00 a ticket is a steal!
Ill health is currently keeping me away from this weekends shindig and I’m so disappointed but I hope everyone has a wonderful, creative time.
You are amazing with how you are dealing with everything and caring for everyone including the Create and Craft staff. The Clarity TV is brilliant especially with being available on catchup with the ideas and downloads. Well done to all. Take care of yourself too. Looking forward to seeing you again on Friday. Xx
Barbara, I don’t think anyone can really imagine how you’re feeling deep inside. But WOW what a statement…. “We trust you, you know”, what a compliment to give someone in 5 little words. There’s nothing more to be said.
Well I am privileged to call myself a part of the clarity/shac shac family. And I trust you too. I will not buy anything other than Clarity products, never have and never will. And that’s a promise! And I never break a promise (Just like the gloves I promised to send you😊)
I’m looking forward to the most brilliant Clarity Christmas open days, take care of you cos your very special to us Penny xXx
Plenty of hugs heading your way! Just remember you are one very amazing woman and no matter what you are going through you always have time for others and believe me it’s truly appreciated! Take care of yourself and get with your hands as soon as you can with your clay. Have fun at the retreats and let others help with the workload! Xx
Hi Barbara
Hope all goes well this weekend, I was saying to Jackie that I would love to attend she said where is it. I said quickly Kent. Kent she said that’s a long way from Somerset, and she is right trying to find a sitter for the cats and a cat that needs medication is not easy. Maybe the summer ones are probably more feasible. But I will be there in spirit if not body have a great time.
Love
Ruth and Jackie xx
Have you still got that little Hugs book I gave you ages ago. We all need hugs to keep us going, especially these days. I am sure you will get loads of them later this week. Remember you are really loved by all of us. Xxx
Enjoyed the shows, placed an order and printed the downloads. Order already on its way to me. Service par excellence.
Remember to get some quality rest between your hectic activities and keep smiling. It will all work out in the end.
Love and hugs.
Sending good wishes and love. Enjoy the Christmas shows. Sorry I am missing them but going on an adventure ( first time for 7 years!) We have to live each moment no matter how difficult but light at the end of the tunnel, especially for someone as brilliant as you.
Good evening Barb., loved the Sunday show with Paul and the lovely Clarity products. You are all doing so well, it’s like watching a well oiled production filled with dedication to your Business, love for all us Clarity family and we are all behind you willing you onwards and upwards and you will make it. You are a trooper, our lovely bus driver, teacher, friend to all of us. Big hugs and enjoy the Open Days, looking forward to seeing some pics of the days events. X
I too make lists on my phone and tick them off as I complete the task. I list even simple things like get grass cut, do the washing and ironing, buy a Christmas jumper for the open days. Tick tick tick – makes me feel in control and reminds me how much I do each day. I get overwhelmed if I don’t write to do it lists- goes back to a busy working life- just part of being organised.
It warms my heart to think that you all support each other at Clarity. I hope you know that there is a wider support group out here who care very much and have every faith that you can do this.
I’m Looking forward to using those products you got out earlier for the course – can’t wait to take part in the open days and the Sunday. If I can help in any way please let me know!
Brilliant Facebook live with Janice !!!!!
You’ve got a great team around you Barbara, and a wonderful man by your side. 💕
Together, you’ll get through whatever you put your mind to.
I’m up for a hug at the Open Day if they’re still on offer! 😘😘😘
Words are so powerful. You just need to listen to what people are saying but also to yourself!
All those words of wisdom you impart to help us all through the day can be turned back at you.
You talk about a feeling of complete fear! Well I felt that in February. I felt like my whole world was about to be ripped apart and you told me then that all would be ok and it is! I suppose I’m trying to say things will work out alright in the end.
There’s always a hug from me from you but on Thursday I can give it to you in person rather than virtually.
Much Love. Xxxx
So looking forward to the weekend. You will be surrounded by so many of the wider Clarity family who are all with you through this difficult time. As you told us early in the pandemic, this too shall pass.
HopeDave is feeling a bit better. Xx
You know Barbara; it’s the little things that count, but have you tried counting them? Everything like you said: Cleaning teeth, feeding the cats (mine is dog!) I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue my enemy is time. One of the things we are taught on pain management courses, is to pace one selves when having a good day. To do that you have to know how much energy you consume And to do that, you have to list everything you do in a day. EVERYTHING!! Right down to the minutiae. In doing so you begin to appreciate your self more. Any action or task for me is a job done ✔️ but crafting especially with you during C&C time was an honour and pure joy. I hope now to pluck up the courage and do live classes with you. Here’s to doing ‘jobs’ together. Done ✔️
Love the new goodies which were on Sundays shows, but for now they need to go onto my wish list, just for a couple of weeks, as spent my crafty limit at the moment. Sending Best Wishes, love and hugs. xx
Oh my Dearest Barbara what a rough sea you are trying to plough through but we are all here with you every wave of the way. Sunday was brilliant but do you know what I really, really enjoyed, this morning. It wasn’t rushed or hurried and the tips were amazing. As you know I am extremely artistically challenged, what is in my head and what comes out of my hands are worlds apart where pens and pencils are concerned but even I got a letter M with a shadow – result. thank you from the bottom of my heart xxxx
I can’t multitask and often get overwhelmed and frustrated at my lack of ability in comparison to others. I just tick off a mental list of jobs as I do them, most as you say quite mundane, but it helps me to feel a sense of achievement. I think getting back to a base level is very important at times, and that will be very different for everyone. I do miss the simple and slow pace of life from lockdown though.
I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking Clarity would be the perfect company to work for. I’ve always thought that if an employee is valued and in a happy and comfortable environment, they will perform their job to the best of their ability and for the people who believe in them. They are invested in the company. After several distressing work environments, I decided to become self-employed – I can tell you my boss is a nightmare! 😜
I think there is going to be a lot of hugs & tears at the end of the week as we all meet up & show our gratitude for all that Clarity stands for -Safe, Happy and Creative. For someone who until last Wednesday wasn’t going & was envious of all the plans being made in regards to demonstrations & the make & takes I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us all. I caught your chat with Janice earlier & look forward to seeing her range of stamps come to fruition. Its great how everyone in the crafting community is coming together using the FB/YouTube platforms & helping everyone out. I saw Dave in the background when you came on to the chat with Janice, hope he is feeling better tonight x
I think the answer is in not how far we have to go, but just look at how far we have come, and Barbara and your TEAM have come together for each other, every body is valued, no matter what their job entails at Clarity. You are so right about dish washer-cleaning teeth etc, If you say for instance tomorrow I am going to clean the kitchen, if you don`t manage it then you fel you have failed, set smaller ones and then when you have succeded you will feel a lot better about your self!!!
Keep doing what you’re doing Barbara and all will come good I’m sure. I’m relatively new to the Clarity community (I wish I’d found you sooner,) but for what it’s worth you have my support and I’ll continue to give you my custom, I’m sure many others will feel the same. You’ve built (and are continuing to grow,) a fantastic business and community, you should be very proud indeed.
I wish you all the best in getting over this hurdle, and I’m sure that with the help of your family, your team and your loyal customers you will. In the meantime, accept all the hugs that are offered and in the words of Monty Python…. 🎵 “Always look on the bright side of life, …. dum….. de dum ……. de dum, de dum, de dum!” 🎵

Hello Barb, a hug is the best thing to show you care. You, Dave, the family and the Clarity team are such a fantastic strong bunch, and I am sure with everyone sticking together and working together, you will weather the storm. Along with that goes the support from us as customers and fellow crafters, giving as much as we can in whatever way we can. Take care everyone. Bx
Getting ready for work whilst reading your blog, it made me think if I wrote a list of the jobs done before I left for work and ticked them off I would already be in a positive place. Yesterday I ticked off an overtime day where I unpacked and hanged 3 pallets of clothes, done made me feel good and a distraction from my husbands test results. Like you a work with a great working family who are there if you need a hug or to talk. Can I send you a virtual hug as I am sure all you supporters are doing. I am looking forward to watching you on catch up. I hope you have a great day everyone.
I love a list, if I am ever overwhelmed with what I want to do I write it down and tick it off it just seems to stop everything wizzing around my head. When my daughter was unwell I suggested she started writing lists and now she always has a book full of lists😊.
All you can do is take one step at a time and know we are all supporting you and clarity. X
Hi Barbara
Enjoyed the SHAC and also the show on Sunday afternoon!
I am also a list person – I even add things I have done but which weren’t originally on the list so that I can them tick them off…………!
I am in a storm at the moment and it’s hard sometimes not to give in to the suffocating fear and panic………I pray, listen to Alfie Boe, do some parchment craft and try to remember:
“Don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Hugs are very important and kindness is crucial – makes such a difference.
It will all work out in the end – if it hasn’t worked out yet, then it’s not finished!
Hang in there Barbara – just breathe and cuddle a cat/or Dave!
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday xxxxx
Wish I could be with you this weekend but have family commitments. I will be thinking of you all. May be next time
Everyone needs a hug sometimes and some people just give the best hugs.
Just remember that you are permanently being virtually hugged by all the people who love and support you but can’t be there in person. I know the open days and workshops will be a huge success. I came to one of the open days in June & had a great day, (my husband couldn’t understand why I suggested going to Kent for our holiday!) It was lovely to meet lots of like-minded people & have a good gossip about all things crafty. I would love to have come this weekend but its a bit too far & I think I would be pushing my luck suggesting another week in Kent!
Love you Barbara, you should be proud of all you have acheived, you bring joy to a lot of people. I brought my grandaughters Leah and Olivia to the Summer retreat we had a great time bonding with each other, they loved our 2 days at Ditton. Have a great time at the Christmas Open Days, maybe next year we can attend another retreat. I bought Linda Williams calendar as a Christmas present for Olivia’s new Craft shed being built in her garden.
Love to you and all the team at Clarity. xx
And what a fab thing Clarity does! – I watched the 2 hours on Sunday and said to my husband, Wow, Barbara & Clarity are just amazing, they just nail it, everytime!. What you do, goes far and beyond what any other company does. I actually felt really proud of you & Paul and Clarity. What you sew, so you reap and I know that’s why you outshine most! well done & thank you! – Sadly, I can’t make the weekend (truly gutted) and I hope you enjoy it as much as I know your visitors will. Absolutely love you lot! XX
My mum used to say to me that I was alright when I had a cuddle. Mum is gone 9 years now and I still miss her cuddles and it did everything alright.
When things got really bad she used to day – things can only get better Joanne as they can’t get any worse. ha ha .
Your blogs are like a hug as you are so positive and after the crappy day at work ive had, reading your words bring a smile to my face.
Big hugs from me. xx
Oh Barbara that last sentence in your blog brought a tear to my eye. Take care of yourself, take care of Dave and take care of your Team. We need you and you need us so together we’ll look after each other. God’s Blessings on you all dear Lady
I love these stamps and stencils, and your tutorial with them the other day was just magical!
We all trust you too, you know, and if we could give you a hug in person, we would. I enjoyed the Facebook lives from the open days, and will try to come next year. But meantime I’ll do my best to attend the viaduct craftalong – I did a little bit of stamping yesterday, and will crack open my virgin box of polychromos today to colour them in!
