Parchment Layouts Made Easy
Hi there
Thanks for popping in. How’s life in your neck of the woods? I’m feeling very pleased with myself here. Have completely prepped and boxed up all my demos for TV on Friday (Creat & Craft 9am and 1pm). To be honest, it’s such a super set of stamps, papers and an Abstract Layout die, it was pretty easy to get inspired! More about that tomorrow though, because there’s another fabulous line-up ahead of the stamps…
Paul will be on Create & Craft on Thursday at 1pm & 5pm, revisiting the Easy Layout Collections from Linda Williams. In fact, when you look at these, you can quickly see where we got the idea for the Abstract dies and sets!
I think it’s cool to know how an idea came about, so here’s the scoop on this one…The concept came about with a lovely piece of artwork that clever Linda Williams created for the Groovi Design Club, using the Grid Plate Mate, designed by Josie Davidson.
I really loved the idea of creating small areas in which to add artwork. It reminded me of a Grid Technique we used to do many years ago with stamps and masking tape. Who remembers? I shall have to dig out the old samples. Anyway, I digress. I called Linda and we spoke about the idea of creating plates to facilitate composition. You know what I mean. How often do we sit in front of a blank piece of card or parchment, and wonder where on earth do start? And that, dear friends, is how the Easy Layout Plates came about. And the best thing about Groovi of course, is that you can use the layouts on the plates exactly as they come, complete with prescribed infills. OR. You can just use the frames, the empty layouts, and fill them with ANYTHING you fancy. In fact, If you don’t want to make a full size layout, just use a section!
Set 1
If you remove the artwork, you have an oh-so-useful set of frames
Set 2
The other thing worth noting, is the countless number of design elents in each plate. So many beautiful elements here, to use on separate projects. But for me personally, it’s about having the prescribed Layout. Whether you use the design flat on one layer, or actually layered, these plates provide the perfect solution.
Here is some inspiration from the design team. As you look through, check out the layered art. Ahhh…. but here’s the thing: is it layered? Or does it just look layered?
Fabulous. Simply fabulous, darling. I reckon hour for hour, Dollar for Dollar, you get a LOT of bang for your buck with these plates!
Be sure to tune in to watch Paul tomorrow.
Love always,

Really inspirational and beautiful artwork by the DT using Linda’s clever plates.
Looking forward to the C&C shows. My beautiful daughter and lovely family are staying with us at the moment (heaven) so will record and watch next week.
Fab to it all!
Good for these plates to get another TV showing – it reminds us all of what we have lurking in our stash & for newbies to see what can be achieved from these great plates. I need to dig mine out & do some frames ready to infill when needed. I have put the 2 programmes on to record so I can look back at them later as tomorrow is our day for Bromsgrove Parchers.
Safe travels up to the studio tomorrow x
Looking forward to the shows. I have all the layout plates, and they are brilliant. Lovely work from the design team. xx
Hi Barb, I bet Paul is going to have very busy shows as no doubt are you. So much beautiful work from the design team, packed with inspiration. As much as Groovi is not my thing, I do enjoy watching the shows, because sometimes it just prompts an idea for stamping or stencilling. Safe travels to you and Paul. Bx
All progs on record as it’s hospital day again today. I have these plates so I can watch Paul later.
Fusion layouts also being recorded.
Safe travels.
