Glorious Tits !!

Glorious Tits !!

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Hahaha. Talk about click bait! Sorry. But you can bet your bottom dollar more folks will click on Glorious Tits than they will Glorious Garden Birds!! All those disappointeds….ahhhhh….

Just came back from the most glorious sunset up on the forest. It’s a good walk. Flat, not hilly, and just the right distance with a bench or two. I certainly know I’ve done it, but not in a bad way x

You know Spring is on its way when the little birdies start waking you up in the mornings. I looked it up. The official start date for Spring is March 20th, still a ways away, but it certainly feels like Spring is sprung in our garden! Bit chilly, but so lovely and sunny. The earth is coming alive.

I was sitting at the computer doing paperwork with our Pete again today, and in the big old tree outside the window I spied blue tits, great tits, chaffinches and even a tiny little wren. Wonderful.

I think Spring is my favourite time of year. Well, it certainly is THIS year! Winter BE GONE!!!! New beginnings and all that. New ideas, new plans – more will be revealed.

Quote for the day?

Spring is the time of plans and projects.

Leo Tolstoy

And I have a hankering to get that old brayer out again.. Looked out across the panoramic vista this evening, and thought.. ‘Torn paper and a brayer…’ Haha. Old habits die hard!

Love always,

Barb xxx

  1. Beautiful photographs Barbara. Thank you for sharing. Glad you have managed to get out and about for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Being outdoors is uplifting as long as your well wrapped up.

  2. Loved it when you used to use the brayer. I still have a little card of a Christmas tree you enclosed in a order from Clarity many years ago when you used the brayer.
    Happy Soringtime Barb. ❤️x

  3. Hi Barb
I was driving home looking at a sunset like that as I was stuck in traffic. I must have been listening to you for too long as I was working out what colours to use to make a background for stamping on! I was thinking of blending brushes but maybe the brayer is the way to go; haven’t used one for ages. Great minds eh?
Looking forward to hearing more about new ideas and projects.
    Take care
    Zara xx

  4. The sunsets are beautiful! Glad you feel able to go out for a walk even with a few benches there and back! Wonder what you have in store with new ideas and plans!
    Travel carefully!

  5. What beautiful photos Barbara. I wish I felt comfortable with a brayer. I’ve promised myself that one day soon I’m going to set my kitchen up before I go to bed and then let rip the moment I get up the next day. I’m such a slow crafter even ideas don’t come easy to me. I’ll have to watch some of your You Tube tutorials. Take care ❤️

  6. Glorious sunset, Barbara! Glad you enjoyed your walk – interested to see what your create with your trusty brayer xx

  7. What beautiful scenery to be able to walk through with that sunset in the distance. It has been a lovely sunny day here -it was a bit chilly but washing dried outside – smelt so fresh when I brought in. Spring is definitely on its way – bulbs are coming out in the garden & along the verges.
Look forward to hearing about your plans – I can hear the excitement in your words xx

  8. Getting the brayer out again sounds fun haven’t used mine in ages and I know I should. It was lovely to see the sun today even if it was really chilly in the breeze, let’s hope we don’t get snow next week xxx

  9. Lovely photos Barbara. Yes, it certainly feels like Spring. I love waking up to the birdsong outside. Love the early mornings, love birds. We are fortunate to have a large garden plus fields and a little wood behind the house and I too enjoy going for walks. Soaking up the sun and be out in the fresh air today was just so good and I’m so pleased you also enjoyed your walk. Sounds like you’re getting better every day which is good news! Spring is definitely my favourite time of year. Love watching nature coming alive again.
    xxx❤

  11. Fabulous photos, springtime is also my favourite time of year. Glad you’re feeling well enough to enjoy small walks . Take care xx

  12. I met a photographer in the park this morning who was photographing a long tailed tit nest. It was made of moss, lichen and spiders web and was like a ball. Also seen on my walk was a kestrel and green woodpecker. Spring is definitely coming.
Glad that you seem to be on the mend. x

  13. What beautiful photos. I remember doing a card with this background ages ago and painting a black african scene with elephants on it. Still one of my favourites. Take care and enjoy your walks.

  14. So true, where would we be without a cunning plan…..👏🤗🤔
🌺You’ve captured some beautiful photos of nature at its best, 🐛at the beginning of a new season🐝 – in more ways than one🌈🦋Thanks for sharing🌼

  15. Glorious sunset. Pleased you managed a walk, steady does it though. Sounds like you are getting your business head around things but again take it easy and don’t get stressed.
Love that you are thinking of new crafting ideas, seems like ages since I got together with my brayers and the gel plates.
Cannot believe we are in March already. Went into the garden today, walking stick in hand as I was a bit wobbly, and was delighted to see a swathe of daffodils with a bed of snowdrops in between. Really lifted my spirits. 🌞
    Hugs 🍒🍒🍒

  16. Beautiful photos Barbara, I always think it’s amazing that we are all seeing the same sun, wherever we are! I dont even own a brayer so have a lot to learn, but I’ll be interested. Been using my newest monthly stamp club stamp today, all will be revealed.
Go easy on yourself and keep safe.xx

  18. Very beautiful sunset. There is hawthorn blossom around here at the moment. I’m sure when I get back to Highland tomorrow it will still be winter!!! x

  19. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy a walk. Take it steady whilst you rebuild your strength. xx

  20. Hi Barbara
Must admit we had a giggle at the title. Lovely sunsets we have mum and dad blackbirds in the garden every morning digging for worms. Don’t let the cats out until they’ve had their fill not that they could catch them too old and slow. Nice to get out and about but remember you are still recovering.
    Love Ruth and Jackie xx

  21. Majestic sunset photos, Barb and Springtime is fast approaching. The fresh air on your walk must have been uplifting and put a spring in your step! In our garden, snowdrops are giving way to daffodils, and buds are appearing on shrubs. Blackbirds, robins, and sparrows are showing signs of finding their partners. We, too, have a little wren hopping about and feeding, always puts a smile on my face.
The return of the brayer is long overdue, always loved the inspirational techniques you have demonstrated over the years. One of my favourites is the resist technique, where an “invisible” image magically appears as you brayer in the background colour!
Was it Ogden Nash (championed by Spike Milligan over here) who wrote – “Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where them birdies is!”
    Take care, slow and sure.

  22. So great to read you are getting out and walking, hope the boot trick worked. The sunset is just beautiful, nature’s colours and yes we’ve got birds chirping outside first thing this morning. I love Spring too and being an April baby feel very much at home with Spring.

  23. Lovely to read about your walk the scenery and sunset looks stunning. I spent the afternoon sorting out my craft room and found my Brayer lurking haven’t used it in ages

  24. Hi Barb, what a wonderful quote, very true. Love the photos, beautiful scenery and I can just see you brayering the landscape. The birds wake up very early, I could hear them tweeting at 3am this morning. Take care and stay warm everyone. Bx

  25. Lovely to see your photos of a beautiful sunset Barbara. Here in the NW we have been blessed with 50 shades of grey clouds so the sunsets have been hidden from us. They are there though-we just can’t always see them. As for the birds I don’t hear them much in the mornings (still in Noddyland) but at dusk in the evenings the blackbirds are only too keen to tell us about their day. I believe there is a record somewhere called Chansons des Oiseaux. Hope I’ve got that right. Must look it up. Good to know you now have the energy to get out and about. X

  26. So pleased you are feeling better now and enjoying the spring like weather. Just been looking at some of your videos using shaving foam and reinkers, definitely going to give that a go.

  27. Have just written an comment on your blog from yesterday, always late. love the sunset, I can’t see them here, too many trees in the way, but get lovely ones when my daughter takes me up to the house in the lakes. My garden is full of beautiful hellebore really love those. Would love to be out working in the garden, but it’s bitterly cold today. Glad your feeling a lot better. Xxxx

  28. Spring is springing here too Barbara. It’s a busy time for Colin as he has his Bonsai to repot and then they need protection at night in case of frost. Keeps him busy and out from under my feet!
The birds are starting to appear too and it’s lovely to watch and hear them. It’s lovely seeing all the life coming back. And our snowdrops have multiplied so well this year. I’m going to lift them when they finish flowering so I can divide them and spread them around the garden a bit more.
I had the brayer out a couple of days ago. It’s good to revert to old techniques occasionally!
    Love and hugs. Xxxx

  29. Beautiful photos Barbara. Yes the birds already think it’s spring gathering the foliage for their nests. Lovely time of the year but do wish it was a little warmer. Brayer – the brain is willing but the hands are not sure. Take care and enjoy your walks.
