This kind of artwork certainly requires a lot of time and patience, doesn’t it? But the truth of the matter is, that all of us can achieve this if we choose to. We just need to WANT to, and to be prepared to apply patience and time. I have often experienced this. I am so busy trying to get to the end that I get impatient. And that’s where it invariably goes wrong. The minute I start rushing, getting impatient, I lose focus.

Actually, I’m getting better at taking my time and reading the instructions on the packet nowadays! It always turns out better!

Today’s quote? #22

PAT

Patience, Acceptance, Tolerance = PAT

On another level, when things don’t go according to plan, the big question has to be WHO’s plan? Yours? His? Hers? When I accept that things are happening just as they are supposed to, even if it’s not what I would choose, I find great relief. I’m not in control; I just have to practice Patience, Acceptance and Tolerance. Things are the way they are for a reason, and my job is to go with the flow.

Love always

  1. Patience is a virtue (one I’ve yet to achieve), despite many years of trying. Parchment was supposed to teach me this when I started this journey over 20+ years ago.

  2. I am so busy trying to get to the end that I get impatient! Too true! Then I think why did I start ! Then I think it is what it is carry on cos while Ive stopped to think that it’s going to take longer 😹 love these plates xx

  3. Perfect blog. You certainly need patience to attempt this kind of parchment craft. However I have managed to complete one and giving it to my wonderful husband on Valentines Day

  4. Thank you Barbara. Another wonderful blog and words for me to remember and put into action.
The samples are beautiful – I am always inspired by the amazing talents. Sending you hugs.

  5. PAT, patience and time. All good things comes to those who wait. Question is how long do we have to be patient, or to wait. Do we have the time? PAT- patience acceptance tolerance. Do we tolerate the time and patience we need….. food for thought! Thanks Barb for another thought provoking blog. Wow, now arnt all those pieces of art wonderful! How much time and Patience went into each and every one. I’m guessing a lot. Superbs shows and samples.
    lots of ❤️. T.xx

  6. I have to admit I nothing but admiration for all those parchers. I love the end results but do appreciate the hours required to achieve the end result. Although I can and have done parchment work I know I’m much too impatient. I know I should take time but I just want to get it finished.

  7. I think everyone should have PAT in their lives but it is not always possible but good to strive for !! lovely samples again from the design team. Just catching up with the shows, I also recorded them so I can look back for ideas at a later day. So many options with the diagonal plates, so hard to choose which is my favourite.
There was also a love frame from Maggie Byford on claritymattersblog.com this morning. Plenty to keep us busy & out of mischief.
Hope Dave has had some luck with sorting the broken machinery & electrics for the new laser room. Today is the start of a new week so nothing can be done about last week but one day at a time we can all move forward xx

  8. Beautiful artwork. The finished results obtained with Josie’s plates are so elegant. They definitely need lots of Patience to accomplish, Acceptance that it will take time and Tolerance towards those who will inevitably interrupt at a crucial time.
Paul did a great job on tv making the process look achievable for anyone.
The Kings plates are my next project for a valentine card for hubby. Fingers crossed I don’t mess it up!!!
Hope it is warmer in Kent than here in Norfolk where it has been very icy under foot.
    Take care. 🍒

  9. Thanks Barbara for reminding us we need PAT. Think we all tend to forget that and when do groovi I definitely need PAT. Love these designs. Another set on my wish list. Xx

  10. Hello Barb, thanks for this quote, it is definitely one to remember. The samples shared are gorgeous, fabulous designs. Take care and stay warm everyone. Bx

  11. Morning Barbara – just catching up with the blog. Completely agree about patient & tolerance – I get very impatient wanting things to happen or change straight away and most things take time, not least the creative process (and losing weight!!) A very timely reminder for all of us xx

  12. I think anyone who does Parchment craft must be patient. My eyes are not good enough for it but a friend of mine does beautiful ones. As a stamper I hope that Linda’s Canal, Gipsy Caravan and other related designs will be made into stamps. They are so fabulous! Keep taking each day at a time Barbara until you are ready to Shac Shack with us again. xx

  13. Hi Paul
I find it inspiring to watch you on create and craft. I started parchment craft many years ago and am self taught, well before Groovi plates were available . So I have learnt much watching you but can’t remember everything.
I was wondering if you have a dvd, or a memory stick tutorial on parchment crafting technique.
    All the best Niz
