A Walk in the Woods – Design of the Week

A Walk in the Woods – Design of the Week

Hi there

Thanks for popping in, and thanks for sending love and positive energy our way today. The funeral went very well indeed; I think Dad would have been very happy to see so many old friends and family gather. It was such a gentle affair, the sun was shining and the service was perfect. Lovely music, beautiful photographs and a fun and real eulogy. In short, a true celebration of Dad’s life.

Unfortunately, I’ve pinched a nerve in my back, and the pain is excruciating. I’ve had a cough since Dad died, and I think the constant hacking has culminated in a trapped nerve. Agony. So I for one am very happy to be home and in my PJs. It’s all too much. Time to sleep for a day…

Let’s look at our Design of the Week -The treescape is one of Mel’s best.

  1. I am glad your celebration of your lovely Dad’s life went as you hoped. It must have been comforting to see how many people’s lives he had touched. I hope your physical pain soon calms down. Stay in the warm and just move very gently. A lot of cuddling of those cats, purring is supposed to make you feel better. xxx Maggie Craner (Silvercrafter)

  2. A life well lived and celebrated is a blessing to everyone who was touched. He must have been a most wonderful man, after all, he made it possible for you to touch all of us. Rest peacefully.

  3. Have been thinking of you all today. Sorry to hear about your back. Hope the pain eases quickly, take it gently. sending love xx

  4. So pleased that all went well for you today. Hope that with some rest your physical pain will ease. Take care of yourself xx

  5. Dear Barbara, so pleased today went well for you all. Now its time for you to look after yourself. Please listen to your body and rest and take time for yourself to heal physically and come to terms with your huge loss.
    Sending gentle hugs

  6. Glad it went well not so good you’ve hurt your back hopefully it will heal quickly.
I wasn’t expecting you to post today you are definitely stronger than you think.
I hope your courage and strength see you through the coming days. Hugs 🤗

  7. Glad it went well today- I was thinking about you. But sorry to hear about your trapped nerve- they are so painful. Thought you might like to hear about the cat we adopted today. Her owner sadly passed away a few weeks ago and the step son already has two cats so couldn’t take her in, so we’re having her. She made the long journey from Rye today to South Wales and so far so good. We think she’s about 10 but has been sat on my lap purring for the last couple of hours. Hopefully she’ll realise she has a loving home with us!

  8. Have been thinking of you all day so am glad it all went as well as could be expected. I’m not surprised you have a painful neck considering all the stress you have been under, it’s your body’s way of getting you to slow down. Now the funeral is over do please try to rest and recuperate and take extra special care of himself.

  9. So pleased to hear that it all went today. A real bonus to get the sunshine too. Like many others I was thinking about you and sending positive vibes and thoughts your way. I’m very sorry to hear about you being in such pain – our bodies are really affected by stress in so many ways and a horrid cough can only make matters worse. Rest your body now and wishing you a good night’s sleep. Take care xx

  10. Oh, bless you, Barbara. A nerve pain is one of the worst. So glad that your dad’s funeral went so well today and was a real celebration of your dad’s life. Perfect. I suspect you will be absolutely exhausted for the next few days as you’ve probably been running on adrenalin for weeks if not months. Please take care of yourself and don’t rush back to work. I know there are things you probably have to do to keep the business ticking over but I’m sure there are other things that you can put on hold to give yourself time and space. Lots of love. Hxxx

  11. Glad to hear it went well, was hoping the sun was shining like it was here. I was out walking at the time of the funeral and thinking of you all. Hope your cough improves, I had one after my dad died, people told me it was a ‘nervous/stress’ cough. Sorry you’re suffering with your back I hope that improves soon. Sounds like you need some me and family time. Hope the cats are looking after you and Erik is recovering well – you’ve had a lot on your plate since the new year. Look after yourself and enjoy the kids while they’re here. X

  12. Pleased the day went well.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a cough and now a painful back. Get some well deserved rest.
I hope your mum is OK.

Been thinking about my own Dad, today he would have been 100.

    Take care. x

    Xx

  14. Hi Barbara
Was thinking of you all today glad all went well. Stress has a way of telling us to slow down. Listen to your body and rest.
    Hope you’re Mum is ok.
    Love Ruth and Jackie xx

  15. You’ve been in my thoughts all day. You did your dad proud celebrating his life and now your body is telling you to stop and rest! It’s most probably all the tension that’s built up and your neck is the first place you’ll feel it.
Listen to your body! Rest up and relax this muscles in your neck and back!
    Lots of love xxxx

  16. Glad all went well today, been thinking about you and your family today. Hope you will be feeling better soon. Take care. xx

  17. Pleased to hear that all went well today
Hope you find comfort remembering the happy times you shared as a family

  18. Glad today went well for you but sorry to hear about your trapped nerve – nothing worse than that kind of pain. I know you said you had a bad cough but it wasn’t a result of bowling was it?
Hard to do & easier said than done but keep moving about as much as possible. Cuddles with the boys will help though. Hope Erik is improving x

  19. Dear Barbara
I was thinking of you all today as the beautiful winter sunshine shone bright and I was hoping it would be shining for your lovely Dad as you laid him to rest and said your final Goodbyes. I have been ill myself for the past 2 weeks with a horrible cough, chest and throat infection which has increased the pains in my body, so I totally understand how you’re feeling. Please try and rest now, let your Mum, kids and hubby be there for you and you for them. I found after my Papa’s funeral 21 years ago, and then as I continue to lose my loved ones, it hits you really hard again and again… all we can do is take it one day at a time. Time doesn’t make it easier – we just have to learn to live without them with us physically, by remembering all the good times and keeping them with us, in our heart and minds. I hope knowing so many of us are here for you helps, even just a litte. Cuddles with your 2 fur babies help more than you realise, they really do sense when you need them. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers, especially more so today. Much love and gentle hugs, Nahid xXx 🦋💕

  20. So very pleased your Dad’s celebration of his life went well and that the sun shone on you all. Hope your painful neck and back get better soon, just take care. X

  21. A celebration of a long life, well lived – that sounds like a perfect send off. Sorry to hear about your trapped nerve. Get yourself down to a acupuncturist x

  22. I was thinking of you and your family yesterday and lit a candle for your dad, as promised. You will probably need some time to heal yourself, as the Adrenalin of the past few weeks finally wears off, so take it easy and get better.
The images above are so beautiful and somehow perfect for the day. Thank you for sharing. Take care and I hope your mum is ok. X

  23. Hello Barb, so glad to hear that everything went well, but so sorry to hear about your back. Please take time off to heal, maybe best to get to a Chiropractor. Sending love and hugs. Take care everyone and stay warm. Bx

  24. Glad all went well yesterday.
Sorry to hear you are in pain, it’s probably the release of tension kicking in. Keep moving so you don’t stiffen up but do it gently. Take your time to heal. We are all here for you.
    Sending warm wishes 🍒

  25. So glad the funeral went well. I’m sure your Dad was there beside you all in spirit. Treat yourself and your back gently now. I’m sure you must be exhausted after the last couple of weeks. Love and hugs to you all with a special one for mum. xx

  26. Hi Barb
May I would like to ask you to give us your Dad’s full name so it can be said out loud for years to come. I will be happy to say his name from now on.
    Love
    Maggie (Bendy Yorkite)

  27. I am glad you had a good day for the funeral. Dad would be proud of you and I am sure he told you so!
All my sympathy for the back as I have had Sciatica since before Christmas and it is not letting go yet! Rest and keep taking the tablets until you are fit to get back on the bus. xx
