A Lino Cut, and…

A Lino Cut, and…

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Thanks for watching the TV shows today if you did. And thanks also for buying our stamps if you did. In the words of Gloria Gaynor, We will survive!

Friday’s blog a private peek, right. Well, let me show you my third run at lino cutting. Gradually gettin gthe hang of it. A astamp set is certainly in the pipeline!

All you lovely SHAC Shackers will be familiar with the drawing and tracing transfer trick…

Once the image has been drawn on the lino, it’s time to start cutting back.

It takes time and you really have to concentrate. But the process is another very mindful one, which I am really enjoying. It’s the same old same old: the more you do the better you get. And the better you get, the more you want to do!

Now let’s pull a print. You really can’t see what you’ve got until you do this. Very cool. Quite a lot of chatter. I could cut away a little of the background noise…

Or I could leave it. When in doubt, hang about! I shall sleep on it.

I think these would look fabulous in reverse too. You know, where the white is black and where the black is white. Everything is possible. Watch this space!

On that super satisfying note, let me just remind you that the Offer of the Week expires on Sunday night. It is pretty epic: Half price Designer Petite Card Collections. CLICK HERE. At half price plus your Clarity Craft CLub discount, now might be a perfect time to stock pile a little!

I found a piece of artwork that I did a while ago, using the Shenandoah Petite Card. That’s the set where I really tried to create landscapes. Does the job for you really. Look!

Amazing what you can do with a nice leafy frame and a family of little ducks stamps!

Which Stampset is this? It’s from our poetry collection. The ducks are in there with another poem too. CLICK HERE

Yes. What is this life, if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare? I’m slowly figuring it out.

Love and Hugs

  1. Oh that picture of the leafy frame on designer paper is really lovely Barb. I might even be able to doodle draw that frame as learned in the Shackshac (it was my favourite lesson when we entwined leaves around the bird table). And I’ve got the birds in flight somewhere in my stash too!!!! That’s my next project sorted….. Thankyou.xx

  2. Wow the link cutting is amazing
My stock of designer petite card arrived today so quick excellent customer service thank you
Need to wait until next Friday before getting any more craft goodies , pay day and should be getting a bonus 😜😜
Have a good weekend and week off from the shac x

  3. Oh wow the lino cut is fabulous it looks amazing stamped. I love the stamps and the papers too. I have spent a bit too much this month. Still it May tomorrow so I may allow myself a treat. Have a good weekend. Take care. Hugs xxx

  4. You and me, both, Barb. Glad you’ve found another hobby but will it become work? That is the question!! Have a good weekend. I’m on holiday from Monday for 2.5 weeks so really looking forward to time to myself. Lots of love. Hxx

  5. Meant to say that I enjoyed the shows today and bought the backdrop stamps. Now got the whole set, and lots of half price designer card arrived today so no excuse to not craft as of Monday! Happy days. Hxx

  6. I suppose using white ink on black card wouldn’t be quite the same as re-structuring the Lino cut?
I enjoyed the shows and goodies. You certainly crammed a lot into two hours, all good. Your demos and samples are essential to people like me. Many thanks for all your work.

  7. Another successful TV spot. Recorded both sessions, placed my order, and watched them when I returned from the hairdressers where I had my first cut in nearly 18 months. Quite traumatic seeing the pile of hair on the floor and the whiteness which appeared from underneath the thatch. I needed some light relief after that and an afternoon with Clarity was just the ticket. Added to that the triptych panels arrived this afternoon so all in all a good day.
I love these poetry stamp plates, bought them when they were launched. Using one of them for my brother-in-law’s 70th birthday card at the end of the month.
    Have a good weekend.

  8. Loved the shows today – my wish list just keeps getting longer…! Had a play with my square background stamp today & going to see how I get on with going a bit more grungy over the weekend – I really think I’ll be with you in doing ‘clean grunge’! These poetry frames are so lovely as well – will have to resurface mine again xx

  9. Love the Lino cut. 2 great TV shows today and looking forward to Sunday too. I worked with a chap who was always quoting that poem. It makes me smile now to think of it. I’m tempted to purchase it

  10. Barbara – What a thought provoking blog. This is one of my all time favourite quotes along with another you’ve used “may the road rise up to meet you …”. Loved the shows and had to put a few things in my basket 😂. Keep enjoying your Lino but don’t let it become work. Have a good weekend x

  11. Great lino cut. Watched first show and recorded the second, ordered the grunge element set from Clarity, and the new background stamps have gone onto my wish list. Enjoy your weekend. xx

  12. Loved your work, thanks for all your ideas. Now I want to try lino cutting , but can I afford another hobby!

  13. That’s brilliant. Very cool because it’s not perfect if you know what I mean! Loved the demos yesterday and the new stamps. I have too much unused stash to buy more just yet, but the mixed media stamps are definitely on my wish list for Ron! X

  15. Hello Barb, this is a very inspiring blog post, but then again I think all of yours are, they always give me something to think about. Your lino cutting is fab, and I know what you mean about the black vs white, I think either would be incredible. Did I hear you say stamps 🙂 Your card is beautiful even hubby saw it over my shoulder and said, wow and the perfect verse for it too. Bx
