A Brilliant Parchment Poppet : Tina Cox

A Brilliant Parchment Poppet : Tina Cox

Hi there!

Thanks for poppeting in. Oh boy! You liked Tina’s Mandalas then! Good grief! Paul is back on at 12 and 4 today. We’ve added more stock, both for the Groovi plates AND the stamps! Hope it lasts.

In the meantime, continuing on with our Pergamano celebrations, I was chatting away to lovely Tina yesterday evening, in between sellout shows! She was über chuffed that her designs are so popular. It’s a huge endorsement, to have a big and super fast sellout like that – especially when a HALF PRICE SALE is running at the same time on our Pergamano website! Speaks volumes, that does…

Tina – A totally terrific Poppet too xxx

I was thinking about Tina, and what a huge influence she has been on our Groovi world. She has a design flare which is quite unique to Tina, isn’t it? When I told her we were printing the Marina Fedotova images on parchment, she said, “Ooooh I love them! Can I do the samples for you?” Now what would YOU say?!? Precisely.

Here then is one of five masterpieces, which Tina created for the Pergamano Poppet gallery. What astounds me is that hen you actually deconstruct her art and put it back together again, it is very achievable. And yet, she has an eye for creating masterpieces every time. Whether it’s the colour, the layers or the little details, the way she puts it together is just always sublime. See what I mean?

Right. Here goes. A step by step by Tina…

  • Picot Cut Pumpkin using the 5th from outside Picot Die and emboss the corresponding squares from the Groovi Picot Plate.
  • Using the A5 Basic straight grid, and working on the back, emboss a double row of dots into the square (GRO-GG-40202-12)
  • Using the Pergamano 0.5mm tool, and working on the back, emboss crosses between the dots.
  • Working on the back, colour using Pergaliner pencils B2 & B10. Blend with Dorso Oil.
  • Working on the back, emboss Pumpkin using embossing tools and shaders.

Move on to black parchment. A lightwave is essential when you use black parchment on Groovi plates, so you can see through.

  • Emboss the largest squares and scallops from the A5 nested scallops squares plate. (GRO-PA-40557-03)
  • Over the A5 straight basic grid, emboss a double line of dots on the inside of the square again.
  • Using the Pergamano 0.5mm tool, and working on the back, emboss crosses between the dots.
  • Using the Pergamano Star Tool (sorry, out of stock) emboss in the scallops.

Working from the front now, perforate around the outside of the scallops using the bold 2-needle tool, and picot cut between the perforations. Do this all the way around.

Using a Mapping pen and Sticky Ink, add Pergaglitter – a hint of gold.

Pretty spectacular art work, don’t you agree? Tina is a pretty special lady – a real poppet. Thank you Tina for all your inspiration xxx

The Printed parchment is just so lovely to use too. And you get a lot for your money – especially on a half-price offer! Black and colour in the same pack.

Whilst looking for Pumpkin for the picture here, I overlaid the black on the colour. Check it out! NICE!!!

Head on over to Pergamano.com and have a little look. Sale ends tomorrow.

Anyway, I must dash. Ticking lots of boxes today …

Love and Hugs

  1. Hi there, Fantastic plates yesterday. Great value for money with so many frames within them. I have had them in my basket and taken them out again several times, not because I’m unsure of them but because I have spent so much money on Clarity products recently but the day is not over so they may well fall into my basket again! Lol. I love them and also the step by step above. I need more hours in the day or I need to stop procrastinating! Lol. Hope you’re ok. Lots of love. Hxx

  5. I love tina’s work. Met her once at a craft show a few years ago, and she spent time explaining parchment craft, lovely lady, very kind. Have made a few cards with my Poppets, love them. New to Grovi. See you in the Shac Shack tomorrow.

  6. I couldn’t run to all the mandala plates, so in the end decided on the borders, as they have so much potential. I am so looking forward to experimenting with them. I absolutely love Tina’s designs and love Tina too. She is an amazing lady.
Enjoy the rest of this busy week and thanks to you and Paul for brilliant shows. Hugs. Annette. X

  7. Hi Barbara,
I already have the Mandala stamps but was not going to buy the Groovi plates as I thought my eyes would not be able to cope with the intricate patterns. But I BOUGHT THEM !!!
Just goes to prove that the demos will sell the goods every time. The fact that they can be deconstructed (which I didn’t realise before) together with fantastic new glasses picked up yesterday persuaded me that I needed them.
The Poppets are beautiful and I like the idea of overlaying them with the black drawing ones. Nice one. 👍
Tina is so talented. I met her at the retreat April 2019 and was impressed, she is so modest, such a nice lady.
Just finished wathching the 2 shows I recorded and will watch again at 4pm for more tips. Not surprised you had 2 sellouts.
    Take care, stay safe. 🍒🍒🍒

  8. Love all the mandalas, will buy them but have to wait a bit to get over the sale and other purchases from Clarity ! Oops xx

  9. Loved the shows with the new plates & Tina’s step by step for the poppet is beautiful. Now to decide what I need & what I would like from the website !! There is a BIG difference
Great competitions over on claritymatters – so much to do not enough hours in the day.
See you tomorrow in the SHAC shack to do some more to our Toucans

What beautiful work from Tina(as usual). She is a very talented lady. I really like the look of the black poppet over the coloured one! Congratulations on the sell outs and also to the design team for their wonderful samples. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  12. I am delighted for you and Tina. What a well deserved success. I hope you are letting Steve out three times a day for meals!!

  13. Tina is such a lovely lady, and very modest too. The perfect ‘Parching Expert’ to do the ‘Poppet Samples’. I have bought some of her plates in the sale. I am so pleased that her new Mandalas were such a great success. Certainly not surprised though! Looking forward to getting both of my sale orders, and getting back into the Groove! Hugs Gilly x
