There‘s a first time for everything ….

Hi there!
Thanks for popping in. Greetings from Glasgow Craft Exhibition ! Day 2 done and dusted. Half way through…

The bad news is today was quieter than yesterday. The good news is that today was quieter than yesterday . Bad because the footfall was down, and sales reflected that. Good because I was able to have proper conversations with visitors to the stand, able to spend more quality time with our Clarity friends.
There are two sides to every coin, aren‘t there.

So we shall see what Saturday brings.

I must tell you, I did something I have never done before today. After the show closed we went for something to eat.
I liked the look of the chicken stuffed with haggis, although there was a mild breakdown in communication with the very Scottish waiter George, who said it came with sweet potato. „Sweet potato?! You must be kidding! No thanks! „ I exclaimed , and went back to the menu to look for something else. Then I noticed it said swede potato, not sweet potato! Ok, we were back on the Chicken and Haggis Trail …I love swede! But not sweet!

Long story short, the meal came, and it was absolutely divine. Sooooo delicious. Along comes George, my new Scottish friend, to clear the plates.“Cor“ says I, „that was great!„ „I know! I love it too!“ says he.“Want the same again?“ he asks, grinning…

And guess what I said?! Yep! I ordered the same again! The whole meal! I’ve gone back to a restaurant the next day and ordered the same thing for sure, but I’ve never ordered the same meal back to back, like a cup of tea! What a gannet! No wonder my derrière is spreading! Not something I‘ve ever done before with a main course! Have you?? And if yes, what was it pray tell! And where was it!?

Until tomorrow,

Love and hugs

  1. Lovely to see you today albeit briefly and at a distance. Had to sneak away from the stand I was working on to grab a bargain from you.
    Samples looked amazing as always.

  2. Hi Barb, sorry the footfall was down today, hoping it picks up greatly the next 2 days with it being the weekend. I guess the folk who could attend during the week wanted to go on day one. As for your chicken haggis, that’s braw, someone frae your neck of the woods loving oor haggis that much that ye ordered twa. It did make me laugh though! I can’t think of any time I have ordered two of anything when out. But no surprises there eh!!! Wi a belly foo o haggis neeps and tatties, I bet you’ll be in yer bed snoring awa early the nicht …!!! Love you xxx
p.s. sorry, but you need to be stopping your cuddles, and handshakes now, no safe enough anymore… And after washing your hands remember to use a tissue to turn the tap back off, then bin the tissue.

  3. Welcome back to Glasgow. Nice to see you, Dave and Paul at the show today. Came home skint as spent too much. Hope the rest of the weekend is a bit busier for you. Thank you for taking the time to speak to your customers. See you in October.

  4. It was lovely to see you all today. Sorry it wasn’t so busy but hopefully Saturday and Sunday will be. What a lovely gift you showed today. I am going to try that technique.

Glad you enjoyed your meal. You certainly deserved it xx

  5. I have never ordered two mains before, although I could probably do two deserts!!
Sorry to hear that footfall was down, but glad that you found a posative in it with spending more time.
Today at work I went on a huge adventure with the 2 year old I look after. We went to Bothwell Castle and then walked down by the River Clyde where we saw lots of ducks. Wee 2 year old was disappointed that we didn’t see any crocodiles, but I was very relieved we didn’t! We had so much fun though!

  6. I can’t say that I have ever ordered a meal twice in one sitting, but why not if you enjoyed it that much. I do remember my brother once saying to a waitress that he wanted a bit of each of the desserts that were on the sweet trolley. I think he charmed her as she did no more than put a taster of each for him. Shame that the footfall was down for you, sadly I have had to make the decision not to come to the NEC as Fred has a low immune system. I shall just have to order from you online. xx

  7. I’ve had two starters instead of a main course but I have to say I do like haggis neeps and tatties and I’m from South of the border too
Hope it’s busier at the weekend

  8. I have had 2 starters which were delish, skipped the main and had 2 desserts. Not sureI could manage 2 mains these days though.
Received the new parchments today, they look good enough to eat – ha ha – plan to spend the weekend using a few of them.
Footfall will probably pick up on the weekend when most people are not working.
    Sleep well 🍒🍒🍒

  9. Chicken stuffed with Haggis is delicious. You have just reminded me of a meal we had on the Isle of Harris whilst on a motorhome trip. I wasn’t sure when I read the menu but afterwards I was so glad I had chosen it but I couldn’t have eaten 2 !!
Hope the weekend is busier for you all.

  10. Nowt wrong with that and if you enjoyed it that much all the better. Make sure you use hand sanitizer regularly, we don’t want to hear our lovely Clarity team getting ill from that horrid virus xx

  11. Hi Barbara
    Welcome back to Glasgow.
Glad you enjoyed the we tasty haggis.

speaking of having two of something , well my two of something is that I had to read this blog twice ha ha I was reading your blog and I was thinking what has the FOOTBALL to do with Barbara not being as busy today,
then I put my glasses on and read it again OOPS !!!

I am so disappointed I cant make it down from the Highlands to see you.
The last time I seen you was in Oct 2012 at the SECC, I was leaving to emigrate to New Zealand , and needed some clarity to take with me.
Anyway I am back now and hope to see you in October I have spent a we fortune online to make up for not being there to support you, especially since you made that long journey up to Glasgow for us Scottish crafters. I am sure I speak for all us clarity fans.
In the words of Tina Turner your simply the best Barbara .

  12. Hello Barb, this post really made me laugh, I don’t think I have ever ordered 2 mains before, but I do order the bigger portion of things like BBQ Ribs, small portions just don’t work for me. Let’s hope Saturday is a bit busier at the show, but at the same time I am sure those popping in for a chat are grateful that there is time for it. Take care all. Bx

  13. Seconds…. Can’t beat it!! It’s only the same as filling your plate at a buffet emptying it and returning for the same food. You obviously needed the food…. I bet you’d hardly eaten all day! You’ll work it off tomorrow being on your feet all day again!
    Love and hugs Xxxx

  14. Oh Barbara, you do make me giggle! Thank you for spending time with me yesterday. Dream come true. So glad you liked my gift. Very surreal watching you make a template to show that lovely gentleman how to make it 😂 I hope its busier for you today and tomorrow. It was an exhausting day for me but I’m looking forward to seeing you again in October xx

  15. As you say, there are two sides to every coin and I’m sure people really appreciated getting time to talk to you. Am seriously impressed that you managed to two main courses! I’m assuming you didn’t have a starter & dessert as well – that would have been OTT 😲 Hope its a good day at the show today

  16. Good for you to enjoy a second helping. That’s all it is, is a second helping after all and no one would even think twice about that. We have a lot of buffets here in the States and we go back and refill over and over until we are about to burst! However, here dinners out are very expensive, so double would put someone in the poorhouse, LOL!

  17. Many years ago, almost 40 hubby and I went up to the Smoke to trail down Tottenham Court Road looking for a midi system and CD player. Met up with my bro for added guidance and once poor went for a meal. Ended up at Pizza Express in SoHo, where hubby having polished off his pizza said, “I could just eat that again”, naturally enough my bro had to challenge him to do just that, which he duly did, impressed the waitress no end, whilst my bro and I stuck with the death by chocolate!
