God Grant me the Serenity…

Hi there.

Thanks for popping in. What a glorious day we have had down here in the south. There was a bad car accident outside Brighton this morning, so some poor soul was not having a great day. Sally sat nav diverted me away from the problem area and took me the scenic route, along the South Downs Way. What a beautiful stretch! I mean, what should have taken just over an hour took almost 3, but the views were breathtaking, and I got there safely. Spend some quality time with Dee, gassing about designs and ideas. She’s such a creative, arty woman! Fish n chips overlooking a lovely little quay. Yes, all very special.

The run home was quick n easy, and Dave was most excited to show me the new Stamps which are now in production. They won’t be showcased until June 2nd on my 2-4pm HOCHANDA show, but they are rather lovely, I must say. They did a run to send out to the design team, so they have time to get arty. Remember the cool Groovi poetry plates? Well, I decided they would make super stamps, too. And they certainly do! In fact, I just had to try them out! Check these out!

So she reached for a scrap, and using the new indexing sheet that the stamps come on, she decided where to stamp

She could have stamped both the verse and the frame together, but wanted to flag up that they’re separate stamps. Black Archival ink, because the scrap was acrylic paint, and she needed a permanent ink pad.

Words next. Pressed too hard, so the “difference” came out too thick. But hey!
Not important, is it? Looks like an old typewriter!
Colour next. She used what she had on the table: Polychromos.
Pergaliners would do the job admirably too…
Substantial price difference.
The Perga Liners are super when you’re starting out with parchment and colouring.
The Polychromos by Faber Castell are the next step.
She cut a frame using a Fresh Cut nested square out of a 7×7 black cardblank, trimmed the scrap, then wished she hadn’t! Would have been much easier to position if she hadn’t…
But it all came out fine in the end.
It usually does….

And as the Serenity Prayer tells us, if you can’t change it, get over it. If you can change it, then do. It’s that little word in the middle: Acceptance.

Hope you like these framed verse stamps. I think they are wonderful!

Love & Hugs,

Barb xxx

  6. This wouldn’t happen to be your favourite verse, would it, Barbara? Bec and I can both remember every word. It is a lovely verse to remember though. I love that background, just perfect for those stamps. My wish list is just getting longer right now. Must have a go at the lottery. How lovely to spend the day with the talented Dee. You need to do more of that kind of thing. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  16. These designs and words make my heart sing! So very beautiful, I can’t wait to work with them. I have a very old decorated calligraphy version of the serenity prayer hanging over my desk in my craft room. It is my philosophy on life and a good anchor when life gets tough. Can’t thank you enough for bringing these to us. x

  17. I love that verse and read your blog last night just after watching the Dementia Choir on catch up. To see the courage of a young couple aged 30, with the husband diagnosed with such a cruel terminal illness, was humbling and so heartbreaking. His amazing wife must have read that verse and have it engraved on her heart, bless her.
    Beautiful Stamps. Hugs Annette X
