Twas the Night before Christmas…

Twas the Night before Christmas…

Hi there,

Thanks for popping in.

Several people have commented that there was no Groovi on telly this weekend. Well, hold your horses! Give us a couple of days to regroup! Poor old Steve is on nights again, so something must be in the pipeline! In fact, I know what’s a-comin, and I think you will be very, very happy….

In the meantime, to give our Groovi friends a little parching fix, let’s go back to Sunday afternoon, to the Twas the Night stamps.

Remember how we stamped on the front of a really beautiful piece of Rainbow River parchment with Archival black ink?

(I just went to link the product to our website, and noticed there‘s a really good offer on a pack of the parchment together with the matching paper. Click HERE to investigate).

Then we flipped the parchment to the back and used a pencil eraser to lift colour from the parchment. Really easy – but how effective does this look?? Especially on really vibrant parchment.

Then we can move the artwork to the soft side of your groovi mat and gently emboss the frame (always work from behind)

This is how it looks at the front. See how I have highlighted the words? Makes quite a difference, doesn’t it?

Let’s add a frame with the nested squares from the A4 Deluxe Groovi Starter Kit.

And again, let’s just use an eraser to rub out the frame area.

Mounted and layered – and finished.

I do like stamping on coloured parchment like this, and taking colour out from behind. Looks so classy.

Got to go.

Going boating with Dave.

It is glorious down here in Salcombe! What a treat!

Love & Hugs,

Barb

  1. Have a great time on the water with Dave. It all sounds perfect. I have just been going through all my designer paper and parchment and realised just how much I like all the blue tones for backing especially. Now I am off upstairs to see where my lovely daughter has hidden all the baby Groovi plates that I cannot find anywhere with the rest. Once those are sorted and on the computer, then I can play with the new dies and the new stamps from last weekend’s shows. I think there will be a fair bit of that beautiful parchment being used, ready for a sale at the local hospital (using your tips from the Retreat) xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  2. Boating sounds like fun. I could probably do that down the road today with the downpours! My new dies arrived today so that’s my crafting sorted for a while. Xx

  3. I thought the programmes were superb this weekend.
So many hints and tips. Just managed to stamp on parchment and using the eraser as you said. Really good idea – stamping and a bit of groovi combined.
Thank you for lovely shows. Wish I was boating but going punting for our wedding anniversary. Hope he doesn’t fall in!

  4. Love these stamps can’t wait for 11 to 15 in groovi format. I am also loving the printing etc on coloured parchment. Might be my new favourite x

  5. Well, for my part, I’m glad there wasn’t any Groovi, give my bank balance a rest ! Now, I forget about stamping on parchment and it’s nice to combine the two. Might have a go at that later….. Have a lovely time boating ! X

  6. Received my TTN stamps and the new dies today. Bliss!! As it’s been raining most of the day and is vastly cooler I have been having a play.
Hope the weather stayed fine for your boating adventure. Being on the water terrifies me but being beside the sea and listening to the waves is calming and peaceful.
Enjoy the rest of your break.

  8. Hi Barbara
Just been catching up with the blog as life has been a bit hectic this week. Looks like you are having a lovely time away, what a great present from the kids. Enjoy your boat trip today. Loved this demo on Sunday, I think it’s something I could achieve. Went to look for the stamps yesterday and the penny dropped that I’ve got them in Groovi not stamps – whoops! Might invest in a couple of tge new ones as stamps as they are rather lovely.

  10. As much as we appreciate it, what are doing blogging whilst on your honeymoon?! Mind you, it is an especially lovely post. I was fascinated by the shows at the weekend and learned a lot, so thanks again to you and Paul.
Enjoy what is left of your stay and I hope the break has done you both good. Annette X

  11. Very beautiful pictures Barbara. I do hope the ‘pipeline’ surprise is Christmas Fresh cut dies. I’m in love with them and can’t wait for the new ones to fall through my door. Maybe tomorrow! Happy honeymoon xx

  12. This stamping on patterned parchment is always so pretty Barbara, and the trick with the eraser is so easily achievable and so effective. I hope you are having a wonderful time in Salcombe and hope it isn’t too windy on the water as it has been blowing the sea into white horses here..lol. x

  13. Loved watching you do this at the weekend, I’ve yet to try it, but I will get around to it. My 5 ‘Twas the night’ stamps arrived this morning making me a very happy bunny. Brilliant service yet again from Clarity. Hope you both enjoyed the boat trip. Xxx

  14. Hi bloggy friends, I hear some of you have had the rain, it’s been cooler and cloudy at times but no rain. Been up in my craft room tonight putting my new stamps away and finished off a card. Saying finished but not quite, still have to make inserts for some of them. xxx

  15. Hi Barbara
Love the on the spot demo. I watched you doing this on tv and it was brilliant then as it is now.

  16. Hello Barb, how did the sailing go? Breezy enough. Love this technique with the parchment, really simple to create something lovely. Enjoy yourselves. Take care all. Bx

  17. Hi Barbara, your trip sounds fantastic, but you shouldn’t be blogging on your honeymoon. It’s great though, love the pictures. Enjoyed the shows you were both excellent. Tried stamping on parchment but my eraser might not be hard enough, will try again.
Enjoy the rest of your time by the sea. I lived in Plymouth until I was 7. Many years ago. Loved it. Xxxxxx

  18. This is beautiful. Still haven’t had a chance to watch my recordings, but maybe tomorrow when I tackle the ironing! Hope you had fun in the boat!
