Santa! What’s that in your Beard????

Santa! What’s that in your Beard????

Hi there.

Thanks for popping in.

Had another chuckle reading through all your tea guesses yesterday! I think I will hold the winner till tomorrow. Savour it, so to speak…Do go into yesterday’s blog and have some fun.

Meanwhile, back in Clarityworld, Paul and I are revving up for the Sunday and Monday TV shows on HOCHANDA. Finally, I have finished the Twas the Night set! The final 5 are complete. I do hope you like them. I’ll show you them all tomorrow. But today, I wanted to do a step by step project, using one of the original little verses: Santa, the little old driver.

It’s been a while since we got inky, so are you ready?

Cut out the beard.

Stamp the little driver onto Stencil card

Mask off and add a moon.

Tear a hill and position….

Brush in the sky with Midnight Blue Artistry ink

Stamp some trees along the skyline.

Move the skyline down to add a little hillock.

Add a tree at the front.

Remove the mask, colour in his hat and use Dorso oil + Blending pen to smooth out pigment.

  This works a treat.

Use a different blending pen to dip into Stick ink.  Apply sticky ink to the hat with the nib instead of with a mapping pen.

Sprinkle glitter on sticky area.

This works like a dream too.

Edge and mount on a matching piece of our Design Card.

Layer up and add the snow on either side of the designer card with a white pencil, to create the illusion of a landscape flowing through Santa’s beard.

All done. Bit strange, but hey! There’s been much stranger stuff found in beards, that’s for sure!!!

Got lots of tricks and techniques for the Sunday 2-4 show. Hope you can join me.

Must go, said the Russian!

Love & Hugs,

Barb

  1. Great idea, although I do like picture 8 too, as an idea. Looking forward to the show. I have some of the first ones out from this set, may have to re-visit them this year – I love them. Kate x

  4. Looks like I will be spending lots this month!! I love this story and have a Santa sitting in his armchair beside his old fashioned floor standing radio and with his standard lamp to light his book while he reads the story (it plays on a cassette tape in the radio) and this comes out every Christmas and fascinates the kids. I already have 1 thru 10 Groovi originals coloured and embossed ready for mounting on a special project. Really looking forward to Sun/Mon shows.
Gotta go – it’s ice cream time!!!

  5. So excited to see the new TTN stamps. I’ve been using one every year for my Christmas cards. With these new ones, I should be sorted for the next decade with no problems! Enjoy the launch, launching Christmas stamps in the middle of a heatwave must make you long for yesterday’s number seven 😉

  6. Lovely artwork but where did you get your scissors in the picture? I have been searching for months to find ones with short blades since the handle on mine broke! I bet the answer will be you’ve had them for years like mine. Ever hopeful.

  7. Hi. everyone….
When you said about Santa’s beard, it felt like a fun idea for a competition ….what was under his beard Ooooo!

  8. Love this……. I have a couple of the Night Before stamps – must see these new ones and maybe add a couple more 🙂 C xx

  9. Hello Barbara – love the artwork today, would never have thought of adding a picture to Santa’s beard, it’s great. Looking forward to Sunday shows, lots of love Donna x

  10. I have the first 10 stamps and have made books and Christmas hanging decorations for the first 4 grandchildren and must do something this year for the youngest one (2 1/2) so I think the next 5 will be a definite purchase. Can’t wait to see them.
My poor cat is in the vets tonight. He thinks she was hit by a car. She rushed out into the garden first thing but didn’t come back for her breakfast. A while later she was in her usual place under a bush where it’s cool and shady. Then she disappeared. When my son came up later we went looking for her and calling her name and by the time we got back to the house she was lying on the mat with cuts to her side and damage to her front paw. The vet kept her in so she could be sedated for an x-ray. He rang just now to say her elbow is dislocated and he has managed to get 2 of the bones in position but the third wouldn’t go back so she has to see an orthopaedic vet tomorrow. Didn’t know such a thing existed. Anyway some b****** has hit her and left her, makes my blood boil. Glad she managed to get back home though xx

    1. Oh Mary,
How awful! Some people are horrible aren’t they? I can’t understand how anyone could leave a poor animal to suffer. I’m pleased that she made her way back to her loving family though and pray that she will make a full recovery. Love and hugs,Alison xxx

    Hugs from Chris. X

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Been a funny day here, hot but overcast. I’m so pleased I’m not in Spain or Portugal – 48 degrees! No way I could cope with that!! I’d need more than air conditioning. Sending love and hugs Alison xxx

  14. A scene in Santa’s beard is not something I would ever have thought of and the background scene you made from one of the designer papers Barbara. Looking forward to the shows on Sunday and Monday. x

  15. Hi Barbara
Isn’t this lovely, would never have thought of doing a scene in Santa’s beard. It reminds me of the scene in the O of Noel. Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got in store for us on Sunday.
