Meet Melanie! One in a Million

Meet Melanie! One in a Million

Hi there!
Thanks for popping in.
Went to Brighton yesterday, to spend some time with Dave and mel, and go listen to Chris Wood, the folk singer,
at the Komedia Club.
What a BRILLIANT time we had.
Mel is such a character. Great company. Very interesting woman.
One in a million.
We were sitting in the front row of the little studio, right in front of the stage.
When Chris Woods came on stage, he was having a banter about his guitar – a 1965 Epiphone.
Suddenly, Mel pointed at the big E and the logo on his guitar –
“My dad designed that logo,” she whispered to me.
That’s quite something in the music world, you know.
As I say, one in a million.

Hahaha. When you look at the full picture, and then at her face,
it speaks volumes!

And quite by chance we walked straight into the Switching on the Christmas Lights festivities, which was very cool too.

I do love Brighton. And I do love Mel.
She illustrates so many of our images, our stamps and stencils and Groovi. You only have to look at the new calendar to see how much she influences our little art company!
I can see at a glance here from the thumbnails that Mel has her stamp all over it!
So I shall sign another 100 for this weekend.
If you would like a signed calendar, then get yours soon –
when they’re gone, they’re gone.
I’m going for a walk with Mel and the dogs this afternoon.
We are making arty plans for the New Year, and it’s time to gather up the bits and start construction!
On the subject of One in a Million, I would like you to listen to this song by Chris Wood. he is such a great story teller.
In the space of a song I smiled, I cried, I was horrified, I felt terrible and I felt joy.  Now that’s what I call powerful.

Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. Morning Barbara!
What a great way to spend a day!
I was lucky enough to meet Mel at the retreat this year! She is a very talented lady but completely humble! She also has a very wicked sense of humour! I'd love to get another opportunity to spend time with her! Maybe at the next retreat with any luck!
    Have a great day today!
    Love and hugs! Xxx

  2. Hi Barb,
Sounds as though you had a fantastic time down in Brighton – it's a special place. Mel is so very talented ( as are you of course!). Love the calendar this year although I was gutted when mine wasn't signed! Have a good day. Love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope you're all nice and warm – it's very cold here today. Woke up to frost everywhere. Well, must go and do some more Xmas cards – traced out another 4 this morning – set myself a target of 8 to trace and colour today- no whitework today though! Love and hugs to you all, Alison xxxx

  3. Glad you had a great time in Brighton with Dave and Mel, and Chris Wood is obviously a very talented musician and not a surprise to hear that Mel's father was very clever artistically too, it obviously runs in the family. x

  4. Funny you should mention Komedia my daughters ex boyfriend is from Brighton and is appearing there soon – Charlie Moss' he is a budding singer/songwriter. I'd never heard of it coming from Yorkshire and now heard it mentioned twice in one week! Glad you enjoyed the visit x

  5. Hi Barbara
It's nice to meet the person behind the name, you often talk of Mel and tell us how talented she is. Looks like you all had a wonderful time in Brighton. Sounds like exciting times ahead at Clarity. I'm off to have a look at the Epiphone upstairs, I will think of Mels dad when I see it now.
    Love Diane xxxx

  6. Mel looks like fun with a capital F! Sounds like you had a great time and also a bit of an emotional rollercoaster too. Got my local and 'postie' Christmas cards done, only time I 'batch' make, so need to get my head around the 'specials' now. Thinking I may have a trial of the beautiful snowglobe and/or candle outline stamps to see how things go with them…wish me luck! xxx

  7. Hello Barb, well it certainly looks like you had great fun. Mel's designs and art are lovely. Thank you for sharing the video, Chris Wood is amazing. Take care. Bx
