How time flies when you’re having fun! A GELPRESS Step by step

How time flies when you’re having fun! A GELPRESS Step by step

Hi there.
Thanks for taking the time to pop in.
I’m glad you did though, because I want to show off the brand new stencil which was on offer today during Maria’s live hours on HOCHANDA. Didn’t she do well ?!?!
I have been so preoccupied with the business side of the business today, I really had a hankering to get some paints out when I got home. And this new stencil.
Pocket Watch stencil
Well, the whole theme of today’s TV shows was Time,
how it flies and so on.
ALL the Groovi plates and stamps were new
and very very special….
Clocks and Cogs
(No, not cocks and clogs.
We’re saving them for one of the Dutch shows!)
BIG BEN Clock and cogs Stampset
Anyway, I wanted to try out the new pocket watch stencil.
Now I don’t know whether you’ve tried the Golden Open Acrylic paints. They are deluxe, superb, the best.
They are quite a price, but worth every penny.
I have had mine for a long time – you only need very little.
Right. Ready? Here goes.
Lay the stencil back to front on the Gelpress, like so, and deposit a small amount of the beautiful Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold
See how translucent it is?
Spread it over the plate with a Soft Speedball brayer

and lay a sheet of copy paper over it to blot a load of it.

Add a tiny amount of Quinacridone Magenta in the centre,
(I’m a poet and I don’t know it!)

and randomly spread it over the clock.
Lift the stencil carefully off the plate and place it paint downwards on a sheet of our large white clarity Stencil card.

Leaving this pictured below on the Gelplate…
No rush. The paint will stay open – aka wet – for ages.

Run the painty stencil on the white card through a mangle
– aka Die cutting machine.
(I love my E-Bosser)
Plate sequence from underneath:
D
copy paper
card
stencil
copy paper
C
B
A
Perfect.
Exactly what I wanted.
LOVE IT.

Now to pull the second print off the Gel Press plate itself.
Flip the Gel Press on the Mega Mount over and position on another sheet of the white Clarity Stencil card.

Flip back, rub the back.
Pull your print.
BINGO.

All I used was this:

I will add that the right tools and ingredients are key.
The right Gel Press.
I use this particular one with good reason.
The right brayer.
I use this particular one with good reason
The right paint.
If you use other regular acrylic paints,
they will dry before you can get to pull the print.

Two for one.
A positive and a negative.
One crisp, one grungy.
Time to kick back and eat strawberries.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

  1. Only managed to catch Maria's second show but she crams in so much information. I think it is time I bought a new recording machine but only if I can get someone to connect it. In the meantime I will just have to rely on the 'rewind'.
I had a go at picot cutting today but still not happy with the result. I will keep trying. Inspirational blog as ever Barbara. xx

  2. Hi Barb,
Didn't see the shows today unfortunately as we were looking for a new fire. However, they are recoded. Love the goodies on offer though. The stencil is fab and your two pieces of art are really good. As I've just treated myself to a Gemini machine I think I'll give this a go with another stencil ( maybe the cogs) to see how it works for me. Love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope today has been good. Another dull and rather chilly day especially this afternoon – was a heating on afternoon! Sending love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

    2. Hi Alison – sorry to hear how chilly your weather is. Ours has gone a lot cooler today & particularly this evening – but still ok. Yesterday was too hot to sit outside – never thought that I would say that in this country! Love and hugs, Gilly xxx

    3. Hi Alison, sorry to hear it's been so chilly, you will be needing that fire soon! Still warm here today but we are in for heavy rain tomorrow by the looks of it. Xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends – hope that the weather has been kind to you and that you have been able to do something nice today. Busy day here – getting ready for our road trip. Up early tomorrow as Neill has got a hospital appointment for a procedure and we are keeping our fingers crossed that all will be well. Love and hugs to you all, Gilly xxx

  3. Really need a bigger gell plate but that will have to go on my wish list. Love the new stencil and stamp set, very versatile. The DT samples were amazing really liked the London skyline ones with the firework backgrounds. Xx

  4. Evening bloggy friends, hot and sticky here today so I haven't done too much. Sorted out some boxes and a cupboard for improved storage. Phoebe was happy to have less fur much more comfortable! Xx

    1. Hi Donna,
Believe me I would accept some hot weather – summer up here just hasn't happened! Glad Phoebe is happy and still loves her mam! Love and hugs Alison xxx

  5. I haven't seen today's shows yet and look forward to catching them up when I'm in bed ! I love the new plates and the stencil and the samples have been great. Having had a bad groovi morning I'm just picking myself up again ! X

  6. Hi Barbara
I'm just about to catch up with Maria's shows, love these plates and stencils, great for men's cards. Isn't it lovely to see Big Ben on the plate. The two prints are great aren't they, must get my geli plate out again. I've not advanced to the open acrylics yet, one day I will. Enjoy your strawberries.
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends hope all is well. I've had a lovely afternoon playing with stamps I bought in the members sale. I used the tree houses to make a new home card for Emma, It reminded me of The zburrows in Harry Potter so I think she will like it. Sending hugs xxx

  7. Brilliant! Love the new stamps and plates and the stencil. Maria really did pack in a lot today.
Loving what you have done with that stencil!
    Have a good evening.
    Love and hugs! Xxx

  8. Inspirational blog as always. Thank you, Barbara 🙂 Will now need to get my gel plate out again at the weekend! Hope you enjoyed your strawberries xx

  9. Enjoyed Maria's shows (you can tell she's really excited for her wedding – just as she should be!) New stamps plates and stencils all great but will have to wait a little while as I've treated myself to the new papers, parchment and Linda's plates so will have a lovely treat when they arrive xxx

  10. Great stamps, stencils and plates with this time theme, and I did catch one of Maria's shows and thought she did great. I love what you have done with this wonderful stencil and the gelli plate. I always think that there is a touch of alchemy with it as I'm never sure exactly what the results will be, but I'm sure you do though, and they always seem to be perfect. x

  11. Great tutorial, thanks. Loving the time themed items too and managed to see the second of the shows. For some reason the first one doesn't seem to come up on rewind – shame.

  12. Hi Barb, a great blog post, I love the stencil, and the paint colours you used are fab. I am hoping to get some play time this week with my Gel plate. I missed the shows, as we had "mission garage clear out" going on, so will have to watch on catchup. Take care all. Bx
