The Morning after….

The Morning after….

Hi there.
Thanks for joining me.
It’s Monday; Dave and I are still hanging out in the caravan,
eating pizza, listening to the festival radio, Worthy FM, and hanging on to the last strands of a crazy, wonderful week.
How did yesterday go?
What did we do? Who did we see?
It all rolls into one great long procession of sights, smells and sounds.
The weather was lovely, and there seemed to be more people than ever. We fled to the upper fields, away from the madness. We did venture down to see The Rag n Bone Man, but it was gridlock around The Other Stage where he was performing.
So we turned on our heels and left them to it.
The Green Fields, The Craft Fields, The Healing Fields, The Stone Circle, The Park.
These areas are so much more Love and Peace man!
It’s about letting the loud traffic pass you by, not getting caught up in the river of noise, booze and drugs. I found a perfect retreat…

We listened to a couple of very cool people in The Park:
Lisa Hannigan and Nick Mulvey.
Both very talented and easy on the ear.
So we lay in the sunshine on the grass and let the breeze carry the music over us. I think if there was a moment when we finally understood what a festival can do for you, it was then.
But we couldn’t leave without saying hi to Ed Sheeran on the main stage, The Pyramid.
He was immense. One young lad with nothing but a guitar and a loop pedal, and a blimming great effects team.
You had to be there.
I knew a few of the songs, but all the many thousands of young kids around us knew all the lyrics – word perfect (around 180,000 were there).  And they sang their hearts out with a conviction which was both touching and humbling.
You know, we sometimes look at the youth of today, and say they are lost. All they do is play games and text. Well, I beg to differ.
You had to be there, to see all these blokes and young girls with tattoos and glittery faces, just singing every heartfelt song with such passion and meaning. His lyrics spoke to everyone.
It is the way of today. It may not be our old way, but they are very passionate about what they believe too. They’re anything but indifferent.
We hummed along!
Don’t think for a minute that we were at the back! When I turned around there were many thousands more behind us.

So that’s it for another two years. No Glastonbury next year; it’s a fallow year. Gives the fields and the area a chance to recover.
And us!!!
Just wondering how I’m going to get this new chair in the boot!
Love & Peace,
Spotty Barb

  1. Can totally understand the need for a little quiet 'reflection' after most of the 'madness' of the previous days, that said you could tell form the TV there was a fantastic buzz in the crowds. It was great seeing all the children singing their hearts out and loved the Ed Sheeran set – had everyone captivated… fab! Would love to attend the festival but unfortunately not good in crowds so probably better just catching what I can on the telly! Hope your spots are soon gone! Xx

  2. Hi Barbara
Well it looks like you had an amazing time, we saw the Ed set on tv and yes I was singing along, he's one of Emma's favourites, has been for years so we've heard the albums many a time and she's seen him live. It did look good and the atmosphere came across too. I hope you've enjoyed your Vuillard out day and you've missed them crowds driving home. Did you manage to get the chair in the caravan to rake home with you, it's wonderful and would look great in your garden ( and I'm sure Dave wouldn't swear too much carrying it back and wedding it through the door 😂😂).
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends hope all is well. Beautiful sunny day again here but I think the rain is heading this way tomorrow. I don't mind too much as the garden desperately needs it and it will make me sit down and finish my aunties birthday card. Sending hugs xxx

    2. Hi Diane – our weather has been quite good today. Unlike you, we have had several days of steady drizzle, which has really done the gardens good. Hope that the card making goes well, hugs Gilly xxx

    3. Hi Diane,
It's been quite nice here today although it has turned chilly now. I think we're forecast for rain as well. Hope you get your auntie's card done. I managed to get mine finished without mishap this time!! Love and hugs Alison xx

    4. Are you all realising that it's all this kind of stuff that is putting Clarity and Barbara fans off from coming here, from commenting here, and chasing off at least some of the people who used to regularly comment here?

Feel free to shout me down, I don't care! I feel strongly it needs to be said, especially as I have noticed a few followers commenting on this recently.

It's really not fair on the rest of Barbara's fans. And especially not fair on Barbara, who takes time out of her busy day, every day, to prepare and write meaningful blogs be they craft, personal, or other things, for ALL her fans and followers. Yet many of them are pushed away by this stuff, and many others are reluctant to leave some thanks and love for Barbara.

In this day and age with so many very simple and easy ways to be in contact with people, I'm sure you can find other ways to talk to each other about this stuff.

  3. Hi there Barbara – I love the way that you describe it all so very well! It really gives all of us a feel for what it must have been like to be there. Love the look of your chair – not sure that you will be bringing that home though. It's great that you have all had such a good time and made so many fantastic memories. Safe journey home – love and hugs Gilly xxxx

    1. Hi lovely blog friends – we have had a lovely day here too, weather wise. Also a very lazy day – one thing that I have been doing is clearing out lots of emails (which I had never opened over the years) which I thought that I had 'binned'. Not at all – I discovered that they are stored somewhere. I have got back to 2014, so far!! Hey ho – IT is not my strong point! Taking Neill for his physio appointment tomorrow. Love and hugs to you all, Gilly xxx

    2. Hi Gilly,
Glad you've had a lazy day – does you good! I hope Neil's physio session goes well tomorrow. Love and hugs to you both, Alison xxx

  4. Lovely hearing the next instalment of your blog. Hope your spots won't last too long. I actually had some while away, thought nearly 70 was a bit old for teenage spots, ha ha. They only lasted 4-5 days with me putting Savlon on them. Watched Barry Gibb and Ed Sheeren on the tv, very good but nothing beats the real thing. Chair looks great. Love and hugs Pam xx

  5. Hi lovely blog friends, hope you've all had a good day. Mostly cloudy here today but still warm. Managed to do a little Groovi this evening. Love, and hugs,Pam xx

    1. Hi Pam,
It's really chilly here this evening but still dry. Glad you got some time for a Groovi – I managed to finish my card after my disaster with the sticky ink yesterday. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  6. Hi Barb,
You look so relaxed and chilled in that chair. I'm assuming that it will be staying in Glastonbury but I'm sure Dave could manage to make you one as he's so talented ( sorry for giving you more work Dave.!). It sounds as though you've had a fantastic time. Watched Ed Sheeran last night on tv and also Barry Gibb which I really enjoyed. I'm not sure I could cope with the actual festival though – way too many people and noise for me ( definitely getting old!). Have a safe journey home, love and hugs Alison xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope today has been good for you all. We were in the swimming pool at 7am this morning – an attempt to avoid the crowds – still busy I couldn't believe it. It just got nice and quiet 10 minutes before we got out. I did manage to get a complete length of front crawl done without stopping which was my aim ( in fact I managed 7 -with breaks in between hasten to add) I was so chuffed with myself so now my target is two lengths without stopping!! Got my Groovi card finished without any more mishaps with sticky ink which I have to say I can laugh about today, but NOT yesterday! Haven't quite mastered the mapping pen though. Off to bed now ready for gym tomorrow! Love and hugs Alison xxx

  7. What a brilliantly written and thoughtful blog today Barbara. Thank you for sharing. I saw it on telly, the youth with their glittery faces, gieing it laldy, and with such passion and happiness and togetherness. I thought it was beautiful. Must have been amazing to experience it.

I think there is a growing band of youth with great visions for our future, and willingness, eagerness to make a positive difference. If only they were given the chance to bloom…

Glad you are taking time to reflect and recover before heading back to Clarity Towers. Love Brenda xx

p.s. ask Dave how to get the chair in the back of your car, he sat and watched how it's done, in the car park the other week!!!!

  8. Maybe try a different festival next year? I did Glasto in the 80s but its just too overwhelming for me these days. There are lots of really good smaller festivals, those with a folky vibe might suit you, like Shrewsbury or Wickham. xx

  9. I went to Glastonbury with my friend Paula over 20 years ago and we had a blast! I am not out doorsy at all so camping etc was a bit of a trial but have to confess that the alcohol etc. helped with that! I am glad you had such a cool time – loving the chair too! xxx

  10. Sitting in that shady seat you certainly look more chilled Barbara and you and Dave have enjoyed the festival in your own way which is what it is all about. x

  11. Hello Barbara! Thank you for sharing Glastonbury with us all! You have had a wonderful time!
I heard from Amy tonight to say she has arrived back in Manchester and they were in a taxi on their way home. She was looking forward to her comfy bed and has tomorrow off to catch up on sleep! I daresay she'll phone me to tell me all about her festival experiences!
Enjoy your sleep and safe journey home!
    Love and hugs! Xxxx
Ps hope you're spots disappear soon! Xxx

  12. So pleased you had a great time and made lots of lovely memories. At least the gap next year will give you time to recover and plan your return to the pyramid stage! That chair looks like you might need to put it on wheels and tow it home. Have a good journey back. Xx

  13. Well, I'm glad you all had a good time and I love the little 'nook' you found to sit in, I'd love one of those. Hope you're nicely rested, you certainly deserved it. Hope you're feeling ready for the Retreats, I'm certainly looking forward to coming! X

  14. Morning Barbara, Thanks for sharing Glastonbury with us. So glad you had such a great time! I used to go to festivals quite a bit when working in the music industry and yes, there's something special about them. Love the chair. Shame you couldn't take it with you. Have a safe journey home. Hugs xx

  15. So pleased you've had a wonderful time and the weather had been so much better fir everyone this year. It's been lovely to share your week with you in blight land, not to mention the fish and chips and to see you and Dave looking so relaxed and happy. Have a Safe journey home and don't work too hard when you get back. Wxx

  16. Thanks Barbara, you have made a trip to the festival sound wonderful, though I don't really do camping these days your way sounds perfect, though I did like the look of Paul's but!!!!!
I am an old rocker really but the modern singer songwriters like Ed Sheeran are growing on me and I was very impressed by him on Comic Relief earlier in the year.
Still only know a few of his songs so will still have to sing along to my old favourites in the car for a while yet…..

  17. Great chair. I've really enjoyed following your adventures at Glastonbury. We had our own Glastonbury at home, clean toilets and no queues lol x

  18. Lovely be that chair a lovely place to hide there but not a hiding place wonderful. Safe trip home and i surpose a beezy week for a action backed weekend xxx

  19. I love that chair Barbara, beautiful! And I'm delighted you had such a great time. I agree about so many of the young people coming up now, they're fab – I read recently that over a million of 24-35 year-olds registered to vote just before the last election, and I thought Here we go, they're waking up! I hope that lovely chair is now in pride of place in your garden. x

  20. Sounds like you had an amazing time. We watched Ed on TV but I would love to have been there to soak up the atmosphere. Some of my kids and family went to one of his concerts recently and they said it was fabulous, even the two youngest grandkids. I love the chair, would be great in our garden to keep the sun off for a while. Not sure that you have had a rest with all the walking but the change of scene will do just as good. X

  21. Hello Barbara! Thanks for sharing your special moments with us, you've really brought Glastonbury alive in my mind. I can close my eyes and just dream a little bit of the music and the atmosphere. I hope you've had some ideas of how you can capture some of that atmosphere and convert it into stamping images for us please? I loved the earth wind and fire stamps and the way the dt converted them into ephemeral pictures and dreamy pictures. I'd love some more along those lines please. Enjoy the rest of your break, you've earned every minute of it, xx

  22. Hey Barb, thanks for sharing these moments with us, hopefully the memories are in your hearts forever. We watched Ed Sheeran on the tellybox, and he was awesome. Take care. Bx
