Stencil play Day 1.

Stencil play Day 1.

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
Beautiful day here!
Sun streaming in, birds singing,
the Groovi Sale has gone berserk,
and orders are still coming in.
Finishes at midnight tonight,
but we’re on top of it and the orders are already flying out!
Me? I was feeling a little second hand today to be honest. I just don’t ping back like I used to after a busy weekend
The old elastic is not what it was….
So it’s time to play a little and wind down after the weekend.
I thought I would steer away from parchment for a week, and get your creative juices going with some stencils.
But hang on! Not just any old stencils!
No, no, these are fantastic, original, designed-by-lovely-Melanie top spec and new Stencils!
Remember the Flower Heads set?
Well, Mel has designed another fabulous collection of Seedheads and flowers, and over the next few days here,
I thought it would be cool to do some R& D with these and the old ones, and maybe even some others. I’ve got so many ideas milling round in my head, but I’m just not finding the time to play.
And then today, it occurred to me – MAKE THE TIME !!
I won’t load them onto the website until tomorrow though. Let’s wind the Groovi Sale down at midnight first!
This new Allium is wonderful. I can already see it as a Gel print,
but this evening I wanted to try an abstract inky thing…
Tape the outer part of the stencil to a piece of our
(yep, this stencil is a 2-parter).
Brush some Artistry Midnight Blue around the perimeter,
using one of our brushes.
Using a second brush, add a pink centre.

Slot the Allium stencil into its frame,

and spritz with water.

Blot with a Kitchen paper towel, remove the stencil,
and…

When it dries, it dries lighter.
I really like the shattered effect here.
In fact, I shall let this dry properly,
and maybe take a second look at it tomorrow.
But now it’s time for a walk along the railway track with my honey.
err… the DISUSED track of course !!
Love & Hugs,
Barb

    1. I hope everyone is as well as can be. I've been thinking of you and Neill especially Gilly.

      I've actually made a parchment
card that's picot cut round the outside and snipped inside! I've practised for so long and finally worked pit that with a practice one I was examining every snip minutely whereas on the real thing while it's not perfect it doesn't notice. So pleased with myself! Thanks for the snips Alison xx

  1. Love this card Barbara. The colours are really good . I haven't done much with stencils although I have a few.. Have been busy today trying to make cards for graduation. One granddaughter from university in Kamloops, Canada, and the other one leaving high school in Danville, California . Wish I could go to both .
I am sure you must be tired after yesterday, looks like it was a great show. Looking forward to my next order. Love xxx

  2. The idea of that walk with Dave sounds good for both of you. I hope your headache has subsided today. I really enjoyed that last hour of the day on your workshop and I am sure the others did too. Those new stencils sound very tough tempting, but I am going to try to hang on till the Open Days. I know there will be serious temptation there. xxx Maggie

  3. Yay, Barbara has worked out the secret, MAKE time to play 🤗🤗🤗 Now, if you'd be so kind as to psychically put the secret into my head on how I manage to get my days/head sorted so I can craft properly each day…

Love this stencil, love what you have done with it too. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see where you take it, and for the rest of stencil week. I've been trying to work out ideas for stencils in my head to try when I finish the art bits I started last week. Your turn to be psychic!!!!

Hope you enjoy your walk with Dave. Glad you clarified it's a disused railway track…. I've been feeling really cold today, not sure if that's the weather up here, or my not well CFS. And the sun has only decided to come out now, too late for shining in here. Maybe tomorrow. Love Brenda xx

  4. Well, I've Groovi saled twice today and lovely Peter helped me out when my Mad March code wasn't right, he rung me back straight away with the answer ! Love the look of the new stencils too and what you did with it. I even managed to remember to order my wink of Stella pen ! Spent the rest of the afternoon out in the garden. Enjoy your walk. Xx

  5. Can't wait to see the new stencils. I love working with stencils and already have quite a lot of yours. Glad you made time to play. Hope you enjoy your walk.

  6. Hi Barb,
I loved the original seed head stencils and if this one is anything to go by, the new ones will be fab! Well done Mel. I really like how this one is a two parter, very clever. I love the artwork you have produced and look forward to seeing the others. My gold mica paste arrived yesterday, and it is gorgeous. Love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope everyone has had a good day. Gilly, I hope Neil's op has gone well and that he's ok. Love to you both. Well been to the gym this afternoon and was chuffed to bits with how much I did ( mind you I'm a bit stiff now). Not sure it's the best way to spend your birthday though! Still just got back from a lovely meal so that was lovely. Got birthday stuff going on all week so thanks to my lovely friends and sister! Hoping to fit some crafting in too. Love and hugs to you all Alison xxx

  7. That is so beautiful, the colours are just like the alliums popping out in my garden now. Love how they look like fireworks in the borders. I always forget I have planted them and then when the daffodil leaves are looking grotty up they pop.
It has been a beautiful day here. The grandchildren had the little sand tray out in the yard, needless to say all the sand is on the yard and there's none in the tray! Xx

  8. This is beautiful Barbara and I'm looking forward to seeing what you are going to do next and what the other stencils are like. Hope you enjoyed your walk. The weather has been good today, well, until the black clouds loomed but luckily they moved off without any rain falling. x

  9. Hi Barbara
Love the new Allium stencil, the artwork looks just like the alliums in the garden, beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store this week, I've got the seedhead collection and I'm afraid to say it but it's not been used yet! I hope you enjoyed your walk along the disused railway, it's been a lovely evening here. The photos from Bristol yesterday look fabulous, a old time was had by all I think. Take care
    Love Diane xxxx
