Family always
Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
Airport run today.
Grace and Nick flew back to New York.
Mark’s already back at work in San Fran.
But oh! What a fabulous weekend we had!
All that planning actually paid off.
And the look on Mum’s and Dad’s face
when they saw Grace and Mark – well, money can’t buy that, can it.
So I shall make a little album for them I think, with all the pics.
This evening, I wanted to spend an hour alone,
digesting the buzz of the full house and the family.
So I made the cover for the little album….
Just plain and straighforward.
Nothing flashy.
Just like the Grays really.
Funny old life.
One minute they’re there, all of them.
Then boom.
They’ve all gone back to their own lives, their own films,
and we have to get on with ours.
mmmm.
Let’s escape for a minute into the cover.
Versamark and two appropriate Words from Word Chain No. 2
Detail Clear embossing powder.
Heat set.
Add colour. A selection of Artistry ink pads
which were on the deck.
Bit dark, but dries lighter.
Leave the light sunshine in the corner!
Stamp a dark green/blue mix of dye-based ink down and to the left on the embossed words, to create a drop shadow.
Wipe it off the embossed words.
Add the elders.
Because after all, we all stem from them, don’t we?
Without them, we wouldn’t be here, now would we?
So it’s only right that we love and cherish them, eh.
Love & Hugs,
Barb

What a lovely family photo to mark the lovely event! Love your album colour too! Glad you had a great weekend with your family. Xx
Thanks Jackie x
That is simply beautiful Barbara! Plus your family photo is priceless – such a lot of happy smiling faces! Lots of love in evidence there! So pleased that it all went well and that your planning paid off! Gilly xx
What a lovely cover for your family album! One thing you must do is write names in the book so that in years to come future generations will know who's who. I have photographs from my family and sadly I have know idea who some of them are and there is no one alive now who can tell me!
So glad you had a good weekend! I bet you enjoyed having Grace and Mark home even if it was ever so briefly!
Have a lovely evening.

Wonderful memories will be in that album. Family is so important, I absolutely adore mine. My mum and dad just had my brother and myself but now we are a family of 30, how fantastic and everyone gets on so well together. They would have been so proud to see them all now. Enjoy choosing your photos for that precious album, it will be a keepsake. xx
What a lovely cover to cherish those special photos in to look back at and remember the joy of the weekend. It is a lovely family photo of you all.
I used to do a lot of scrapbooking when the kids were younger when I used to send away the films to get developed so I was more inclined to create lovely pages than I am now. It is something I need to get back into as I recently got about 100 photos printed. Now I may even do my own papers from scratch with some of my lovely clarity stamps and stencils.
Hi Barbara, what a brilliant family photo. One to cherish down the generations. Thank you for sharing. And thank you for more drop shadows, I think I'm making progress, slow progress, in tiny baby steps progress!!! Love your album cover picture. Your Mum and Dad will love your album, I'm sure. Something to be passed down the generations too. So happy for you all that your weekend together was so special. Love Brenda xx
What a special photo family is so important spending time together the best we are blessed in having a wonderful family love the cover you made lots love xxx
that is a weekend to cherish. great start to the album, hugs xx
A lovely cover and I'm sure the contents will be equally lovely. I made a big memory album for our daughter. It took a year as I was working full time and it finished with a photo of the couple taken on her engagement . We gave it to her on the eve before her wedding day her dad said he wasn't going to recount tales of her childhood and people were invited to look in the album on a side table. So many of the friends and family found themselves in it. Lovely memories for all.
What a lovely thing to do Chris. I bet she treasure it. Love and hugs Alison xx
So glad you had such a good weekend Barbara. It must have been lovely to have all your family together again, if only for a short while. I'm sure it made your Mum and Dad's day to get such a stunning surprise and it was lovely of Mark, Grace and Nick to go to all the effort of flying all that way for such a short time. You certainly raised some good'uns there! Enjoy your memories as you make your album.
Love Gayle xx
Gorgeous cover and I am so glad your weekend was so lovely! xxx
What a perfect 🎉 celebration!!!!
Hi Barb,
What a fabulous photo! If the cover is anything to go by, then I'm sure the album will be brilliant. Pleased you all had a great time. Definitely one to remember. Love and hugs Alison xxx
Hi bloggy friends,
Been a very soggy day here today – still the gardens needed it. Went to the gym today – first day of doing lower body work. Felt very strange when I got off the treadmill – thought I was drunk!! Can you tell I've only been on a treadmill once before? Anyway managed to do walking on the treadmill and also tried one of the bikes – that pulled my knee a little so didn't want to push that one. Still knee held up and don't seem to be any after effects yet. Love and hugs Alison xxx
Well done!! Have you tried the cross trainer? It helps me but the motion may not suit you. Hugss xx.
Well done! Very sensible to stop when you felt your knee twinge. Xx
Glad you had a fun family filled weekend. Many happy memories to treasure for everyone. love the cover of your album, those colours are very rich and zesty. Xx
Hi bloggy friends, bit wet here and muggy! Been crafting this evening managed to knock over my pot of green glitter! Got most of it back in the pot! Such fun. Xx
Oops! I did that with a pot of gilding flakes- only problem was that poor Scamp got most of them on her! She was very sparkly for a while! Hope Phoebe isn't green!Love and hugs Alison xxx
What a great photo of you all definitely one for the album Barbara. I love that rich green you have used and the yellow like a glorious sun shining on the right hand side, and then the lovely shading to the left of the letters, which really makes the title stand out. I love the two wee folk on the bench, side by side just like your Mum and Dad. x
Well done Barbara, so pleased all your planning worked out. Creating an album is a great idea and I am sure you will enjoy sorting the photos. The album cover strikes just the right note, vibrant and sunny. I am sure you are missing the youngsters but they will find an excuse to be back soon. xx
Beautiful idea Barb, and glad you had such a great family weekend – I suspect it may take a few days to assimilate all the 'snapshot' images you'll keep seeing! Lovely! xx
Nothing as wonderful as family and friends .
Hello Barb, what a beautiful photo to treasure, and I love the cover for your album. Take care. Bx
Fabulous cover Barbara and what a wonderful idea to remember such a lovely weekend. You all look so wonderfully happy too. Great idea of Janes about putting all the names of those present at in the book too – a great memory book. Xx
A lovely cover for a special book of memories xx
Great photo and great tip from Jane. We relied on the great memory of an aunt who was 102 when she died, and we have photos now that we are struggling to identify the people in them. We have started to note the people and the occasion so that down the line future generations are less likely to have this issue.
A very precious time for you all. Beautiful photograph of a beautiful family. Lovely artwork for the cover of the album. What a poignant keepsake x
Hi Barbara
What a beautiful cover for an album they will cherish. The couple on the bench always makes me smile, I have some elderly aunts and uncles, been married for donkeys years and I can just see them sitting there peacefully. Hope the kids get home safe and sound.
Love Diane xxx
A wonderful family photograph and the sun sure came out for this auspicious occasion. The cover of the album you created is gorgeous, love this couple on the bench.
Hugs
