These boots were made for walking – new stamps x

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
I am so excited to show you this piece!
Made it last night, because we are off to the NEC today,
but boy! Did I enjoy myself.
We have new stamps and matching masks.
You may recall we launched a rake of Groovi plates with handbags, shoes and hats in January, and decided they would also make fabulous stamps.
They took a little while to rework and manufacture, and the masks are a must, but here we have a
In case you are new to Clarity, when we talk about masks, what we mean is that we create reusable masks for our stamps,
so you don’t have to cut them out.
I wanted the hat, bag and boot stamps to be large
for a very particular reason….
I hope you like.
Mount the boot on one of our award-winning handles,
Stamp the boot onto stencil card with black Archival ink

Cut out the outer area of the boot mask and attach.

We need the heel too…

Cover up the white card in the background with masking tape.
Punch out a little moon, and start to dab a light blue sky into the top of the boot with a make-up sponge.

Tear a piece of copy paper and dab some hills into the lower area.
New ink pad Hickory Smoke. Great grey.

Add some green with Bundled Sage.
Looks a bit ropey, I know….

Black Archival ink pad and add some trees.
This stamp is an old New Design Club stamp.
You would be surprised how lovely the club stamps are every month. Time to join?
Peel off the heel mask.

Few more trees along the foot and dab some colour into the heel.

Now for the reveal, when you peel away all the masking tape.

Use colouring pencils to heighten the colour,
intensify the greens and blues.

Grey pencil to create a drop shadow underneath the sole and heel.
Gives the boot a 3-D effect.

Add a lovely funky sentiment which fits the mood.
Another new Design Club stamp. NDC100.
That tells you how long this NDC has been going,
if this is No. 100 of monthly issues!
And this one was ages ago!
Colour it in with the same colours,
trim the card, edge with a black Sharpie pen,

Mount on a piece of Northern Light designer paper
and back on white card.

Very pleased with this.
Hope you like it too.

Now go back to the top of the blog,
where I introduced you to the hats and bags too.
Imagine miniature landscapes inside those shapes too.

I want to do the next one now!
But I have to pack my demo stuff for the show.
Ah well, over to you.
Love & Hugs,

  1. What a smashing new collection – and how much you can do with it ?! I'm trying to cut down and use what I have …. you are not helping !! This is just up my street boots/shoes/bags and the colours you've used too. Have a great show xxx

  2. Be warned. It is idiots day up here on the M42. One car in front cleaned all the dirt off the side of his car on the high walled section of the central reservation. It is all pretty busy, partly due to th Caravan and camping show. Back to nice things now, Those stamps are going on my wish list for sure and I love that decorated boot. I hope you have some comfortable boots/shoes for this week's show. Have fun and take care of that poor neck. xxx Maggie

  3. Brilliant Barbara. Did make me laugh when I saw your artwork at the top, you and boots! Surprising thing is it's taken you this long to make a stamp of one!!! 😉 Love what you have done, very arty. Thank you for sharing. Saw these new stamp sets the other day, never got as far as imagining whole scenes in them. What unique art they can make. Definitely be adding some of these to my need list, my stash is definitely lacking on the lady/fashion stuff.

I've spent this afternoon searching for a new washing machine. Think I've found the one, but it's out of stock on John Lewis, did the email me when back in stock thing. Does anyone know what it means when they say you have to drain your old machine? Is that draining the wee tube thing at the bottom, that you're supposed to clean out regularly (clearly I don't!). Or there is an option on the dial for drain, but that's for if you've water in the machine I think? Or is it something else?

Craft/calm down time now for me I think, but nothing as arty, a bit of simple doodling and writing I think. Restarting with easy stuff until my head can get back into it again.

I thought you'd be doing the show today, guess trade shows have different days to the public ones. Hope you have a safe journey, and loads of traders placing huge orders with you.

    Love Brenda xx

For anyone not in the clubs, seriously consider it. What you get for your £5 per club per month is outstanding. I gave up my Radio Times subscrition to help pay for my £15 a month. Maybe if you get craft or other magazines, try the club for a year instead. And if you're a Clarity Crafter's anonymous member, it's a no-brainer, the amount you save on your orders!!!!

    1. Hi Brenda aye I'm early for a change Granny duties free the night so getting a wee time to myself (well it's early yet eh!
Re yir wee machine draining I think it means when your turn off the water that goes into the intake hoses and detatch from the pipes you then drain into a bucket water what's left in said hoses.
Hope that's right cause that's what I did.
      Here's yir Dot..xx

    2. Brenda we got our new washing machine from John Lewis and paid the extra money to have them remove the old machine and plumb in the new one, think it cost about £25. If your machine has stopped working and it's full of water I think that's what they mean, there's possibly a drain cycle on the programmes. Yon will be impressed with the new machines, so much quieter than old ones. Oh yes the JL fitters also explained what all the buttons did and showed you how to work out how to make the run times quicker. I hope that helps. Sending hugs to you and Daisy xxx

    3. Hi Brenda,
Hope you manage to get your new washing machine sorted. John Lewis are brilliant. You're definitely right about the clubs too! Love and hugs Alison xx

    4. Thank you everyone xx
That's good news Pam, not long now. Fingers crossed they come up with something.

I hadn't thought about the inlet end! Brilliant if it's quieter, I can't be near it when it's spinning, bad noise for me. My one must be nearly 15 years old, it's still working for now but it's not right, it's showing it's age!!! Didn't get any craft done, been getting myself in a right state, what ifs again, what if they tell me they can't fit it for some reason to do with the plumbing or something. My Asperger's usual! Still to work out how we're doing it, trying to find a way I'm not here by myself when they come. I'm sure once it's in and proved to be working ok, and my various fears and problems subside, I'll be able to enjoy it!

Hope you're all having a crafty weekend. I'm going to try again, see if I can stop my washing machine head!!!! 😉

    Take care Dot..xx

  6. Could I have a real pair (Size 4) pretty please…I'd never take them off! More stamps added to my wishlist… Safe journey(s) and have a great show xx

  7. Brilliant stamps, thought I'd got all on my list but with what you have bought out since its just as long again. Better get saving. Good luck with the Trade show safe journeys.xx

  8. Hi all bloggy pals, hope you've had a good day. Hubby and me are fed up with these colds and coughs, had them on and off since flu jabs early in November decided to get some Vitamin C in the hope it will build up our immune systems. Great new stamps again, aren't they? Love and hugs, Pam xx

    1. Hi Pam,
I hate it when colds etc hang on for so long. Hope you feel better soon. Have you tried echinacea, I took it for a few weeks before I had my knee replacement as I was terrified that I would catch cold and have my op cancelled. It really seemed to help. Glad you've got your appointment through – not long now. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  9. Hello Barb,
This is fantastic, absolutely fabulous. Oh, oh, I feel a visit to the Bank Manager may be necessary!!!
Have a wonderful show, and if you have these on sale, you will have sell outs.

  10. Thank you in spades for those lovely new stamps. We asked and you gave, and I for one couldn't be happier. I love the scene building in the boot, what a gorgeous piece of art! I'm sure the stamps will be really popular. Now I don't want to sound greedy, but next time could you please do some more grungy type boots, like Doc Martens or similar. They would be great for men as well as women and could be used for walkers and ramblers with lovely scenes in them, or covered in mud and graffiti for the wild ones among our friends and relatives. Instead of handbags perhaps you could give us back packs and maps and compasses? Sorry, you must think I am never satisfied, it's just that you are so good at what you do, (large dose of flattery here), you just get my imagination flowing. I'll stop, just thanks again for great stamps. Stay safe, be happy xx

  11. Hi Barbara
Wow oh wow what great stamps and so versatile too. Love the scene, that's typical Barbara, a real classic and such great stamps. Yes the design club is fantastic value for money and well worth while. I hope Mark is recovering well from his operation and you have a safe journey to the NEC.
    Love Diane xxx
Ps I'd love a real pair of boots like this too please, think you would make a killing if you had them for sale!!! Xxx

    1. Hello lovely blog friends hope you are all ok. My friend gave me a parchment magazine today she got free with another magazine. Had a little browse through it and there was our Barbara and the team and an article by Paul. Lots of groovi stuff too- lovely. Sending hugs xxx

  12. Hi Barb,
This is fabulous, I would never have thought of doing a landscape in the boot. However, I'm sorry to say that boots, shoes etc are not my cup of tea for cards, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the work and artistry. I can't stress enough how brilliant the clubs are to anyone out there who is debating whether to join or not. Hope show goes well and that you have a safe and stress free journey. Love and hugs Alison xxx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope today has been good for you all. Got my new poetry plates today and they are gorgeous, going to have a little play tomorrow hopefully. Love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

  13. Just love these stamps and the scene you have created. Got my mind working – flowers, butterflies, birds, stars to decorate the boots.
I was inspired by the National Trust Valentine's Day flower count to go and count the plants in flower in my little garden and took photos of all 20. Amazing, even got a snapdragon flowering and I know I didn't plant any last year, must have come via the birds.
It's been a gorgeous spring day here, had a lovely walk along the beach.

  14. Just when I think I have my wish list under control, you create something new that MUST be added. I really love what you have shown us with the boot and I look forward to owning these soon.

  15. Hi Barb, oh well that's just done my bank account an injury! Love the stamps, and what a great piece of art you have shared with us. The masks are invaluable. Hope the Trade show is very successful. Take care. Bx
