And deep deep in the forest…..

And deep deep in the forest…..

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in today.
It’s been a cold, wet day here.
Attended the funeral of a dear friend’s Mum.
It was actually – dare I say it – a lovely funeral,
followed by an excellent afternoon.
Ran out of hours in the day for getting arty today,
but then I remembered a superb piece of artwork which another Barbara –  Barbara Lancaster – created for the TV show.
It didn’t get shown on telly
because the camera couldn’t pick up the inner scene.
Barbara had evidently spent an age on it,
cutting out the top tree layer,
So I thought we’d blog it up close.
I’m sure Barbara will not mind my showing off her wonderful 3-D art. Very clever – just like her.
Upon closer inspection, I see she used both stencils.
Mel drew the main treescape here:
and then I followed on with the compliment, here:
Can you see the little snowman deep inside the forest?
isn’t that so lovely??

See him?
He’s in the Sled Stamp set.
Barbara has combine the two stencils and cut out between the trees to create an aperture in the woods.
Pretty awesome actually.
It’s so excellent in the hand.
Quite difficult to appreciate even up close with photos.

But you can see, can’t you?
Thank you Barbara.
Great job x
Time for bed said Zebedee.
It’s been a long day
Love & hugs
Barb

  1. After watching Barbara Lancaster at Maria's Shrewsbury workshop, I am not surprised at her beautiful work. I love seeing how she works and this is typical of the ways she sees things the rest of us have missed. She is certainly a very worthy member of your fabulous design team. I love this one with one of my most used stencils. Well done to Mel, Barbara Lancaster and to you Barbara Gray for seeing the talent the rest of us aspire to. xxx Maggie

  2. What a magnificent piece of art work. It is so magical. Maybe have a go.
Still struggling to get a perfect image stamping white onto parchment.
Best time of the day, looking at the blog.
    Love to everyone

    1. Thank you. I am sure you live not far away. Perhaps we could meet up. It would give me a boost. Do not know how we do it as we cannot publish e-mails etc. Take care

  3. I think it's good that a funeral is lovely, it's a fitting send off for the person. We've just got back from Cornwall this afternoon visiting our friend. She heard last night that her sister died so it was good that we were with her when she got the news. However, she was 94 and it was expected. A long life and just the last 3 weeks of it in bed. It's a shame she hadn't seen her for a few years as she moved with her daughter to Isle of Wight and that's a bit of a journey for our friend on her own at the age of 74. She did it once. They spoke weekly though.
I digress. Lovely piece of art from Barbara, and love the snowman peeking through ! So clever xx

  4. I do know what you mean about a funeral being lovely. My dad's funeral was so lovely. Positive, as we celebrated a life that was lived to the full. So many good things to share and yes, laugh about. Miss him and would dearly love to have him back, but he left us with so many lovely memories. Our very own Cap'n Birdseye.

I just love today's artwork, what a talented lady.

  5. Hi Barbara, wow, that's a labour of love if ever there was one! Well done Barbara L. It belongs in a fairy tale, can't quite work out which though. Thank you for sharing. Sorry you had to go to a funeral today, that's sad. Death is the worst thing about being born, in my opinion. Hope you have a good sleep dreaming happy dreams. Love Brenda xx

  6. She is a very clever lady that Barbara Lancaster and I am very proud to say she is my friend. The huge owl picture she did for the August challenge was truly awesome too. Maggie is quite right Barbara has an eye for seeing things us mere mortals fail to spot. A worthy member of your wonderful team. Xx

  8. What a lovely card from Barbara Lancaster, definitely a labour of love with all that cutting out. Loved your step-by-step yesterday too, did watch the demo on the TV, one to try out but with the Adirondack or Distress inks, must use them up first. Loved Brighton too, have been there quite a few times staying on a Caravan site near the Marina, within walking distance of the famous Lanes. Well it was for me at the time. Congrats to Chris for her funny limerick. Glad it was a lovely funeral, know just what you mean. Hope you get a good nights sleep and feel refreshed in the in the morning, love and hugs, Pam xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Been tidying up my craft room today – believe me it needed it! Finally found places for my Clarity goodies that came last week! Hope you're all ok, love and hugs Alison xxx

  13. Any chance I caught a glimpse of this on a shelf on the Hochanda set? Whatever, thanks for showing it off so well, absolutely stunning. Hope when you read this you've had a good sleep. xx

  14. Stunning card…lots of imagination, effort and talent! Totally understand your 'lovely' statement, in all honesty I think that's a wonderful, positive way to say goodbye. Sleep well xxx

  15. A beautiful card by another clever Barbara. I am very much a novice, so can only dream of making something as lovely. I have heard that my parcel has arrived at home, but I am in Canada for Christmas with the family so I will have to wait. I have got my cracker plate with me ready to make some hopefully, with the help of one of my granddaughters. Have made two simple cards with the Christmas bell, which I love. Xxx

  16. Fabulous work Barbara L – and thanks for showcasing it Barbara G. Had an email today to say my Clarity parcel is on it's way, but I have to do loads of baking for a party for my neighbours on Sunday. Probably best that I don't open it until after the weekend, otherwise they will have very scant offerings! x

  17. Hello Barb, it is such a hard time of the year to lose loved ones, and yes some funerals can be easier to bear than others. Love the 3D artwork, from a very talented lady. Bx
