Skin like an old giraffe!!!!

Skin like an old giraffe!!!!

Hi there!
Thankss for popping in.
And thanks for watching and supporting on Hochanda if you are,
although I am barely going to compete with Wimbledon!!
What are the chances???
First time in 12 years they play on the first Sunday,
and right bang on the same time.
Ah well.
It is what it is.
DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF.
I am grateful to be here at the studio, working with Charlie, Paul and a bunch of lovely people.
Quick blog in between shows!
Sorry I didn’t get to the Giraffe skin in the background!
Where did the time go???
First of all, blend two colours from those fab little ink pads
on the blending mat:
Sweet Toffee and Old parchment.
By the way, these little ink pads are the nuts.
And perfect as a sampler set in readiness for the larger ones.
I love them.
These are the same colours I used to colour in the Giraffes.
Load your brayer from the mat and then transfer the ink onto a sheet of copy paper.
We’re just trying to change the background colour a little.
Don’t worry about patched or stripes!!

Now scrunch up this sheet of paper and then flatten out again.
Lay or even better TAPE the giraffe texture stencil into place,
load the little blending tool with the darker colour,
then pound through the stencil

Do that all over.
May as well make a whole sheet.

Attach double-sided adhesive sheet to the back of the sheet,
and roll over the front with a brayer.
That easy.

Using a craft knife, cut the panel you want.

Layer up on a blue panel slighter larger.
I made the blue panel by brayering the same blue I used in the front picture just up the sides.

All done.
Now just decide which layout you like best.
Eeny meeny

Miny Mo!
It’s back on telly she has to go!

If we have time at the end of the 5pm show to do this, then I will,
I wouldn’t bank on it!
Better to do something new properly than scramble.
I don’t like scrambling; it makes me nervous.
And when I get nervous I make mistakes.
Definitely going to write that book.
I can see it in my mind’s eye.
Shotgun that idea!
Just give me the time I need to get to it!
See you soon
Love & hugs
Barb

Hopefully that will have helped to take your mind off your pain a little, and it will have made you feel more upbeat. Enjoy tomorrow's shows too! Thinking of you and sending you love and special uplifting hugs, Gilly xxx

  2. Had to watch at 3, as some of the grandkids came for a quick stopover on their way shopping. I did enjoy the show and am looking forward to all the others especially the groovi section. Although I'm not doing much at the moment I still like to watch and learn. Your better than tennis any day Barbara x

  3. Thought you may blog between shows so have been checking!!One down so far. You may have taken a bit longer than planned but better to have too much to do than not enough and I bet you catch up at 5.00. Love the scrunched paper effect – so simple but so good1 All the best for the rest xx

  4. Afternoon bloggy friends, fingers crossed the internet keeps working! Got a new modem and TV box. Told to just follow the easy steps and it would be up and running in no time! Well, obviously the easy steps are only for a trained computer/TV cable technician, which I am not! So after some frustrating plugging and unplugging of wires and cables the TV and internet are now working YAY!! By the way Phoebe was no help, she just kept looking at me and then went to sleep 😋 Xx

    1. Hello Donna. It's so good to hear that Phoebe is now well enough to take an interest in what you're doing. Any more news on the colouring front? Love and Hugs xxx

    2. Hi Donna – glad to hear that you have got the technical stuff sorted! I'm not so good at that sort of thing I'm afraid. It's great to hear that Phoebe is getting back to normal – love and hugs Gilly xx

    1. Very good Donna! Looks like you've managed to get everything connected properly so well done for that. Enjoy the one day special show. Love and hugs Alison xxx

  5. Really enjoyed the show and watched the end of the fabulous Tsonga v Isner match. Best of both worlds. I would like to know one thing though. Are those lovely ink pads Distress type or Archival type? Or are they different to both? Just getting ready to settle down for the next show. Have fun. xxx Maggie

    1. Jane Telford has just pointed out that my brain has turned to mush by noticing that I wrote Archival when I really meant ADIRONDACK. So I will post my question again. Are the new ink pads like Distress ink pads or like the old Adirondack? Thank you, Jane, for that help. Much appreciated. xxx Maggie

  6. I love thee new ink pads – how could you keep this from me???? I do love well designed packaging and this is it, both in the minis and the larger – brilliant . Love your card too. – off to watch your next instalment. X Sam

  7. Was blown away by ALL the new products. The stamps & stencils are all fantastic. LOVE THEM ALL and will definitely be buying them all at the retreat so please bring plenty. I was also really impressed with the new ink pads which are so cleverly and thoughtfully designed. The design team's samples are all stunning and I'm really enjoying watching your demonstrations which are beautiful. Great to see Billy out to play again. Fantastic show…Barbara at her best! Love and hugs, Jeanette xxxx xxx

  8. Love this technique – very clever. One day I will get around to doing my safari scrapbook, and these stamps and stencils would be just perfect. Hope your remaining shows are going to plan and that you have lots of sell outs! A special hello to our friend Dot – hope you're OK as we've missed seeing you on the blog xxx

  9. Lovely shows , I really enjoy using these tricks of the trade , I think you are all very clever producing beautiful works of art with the groovi plates , but I do prefer the stamps. Spent too much in Crowborough , so will have to wait a while to add these to my collection . xx

  10. Managed to see second show and as always just great. Lovely new stamps,my youngest grandson will love the lion ones. Bit more on my list for retreat. Good luck with the Groovi plates later, bound to be a hit. xx

  11. Absolutely loving the new clarity goodies. The Hochanda show is a great watch. Much better than tennis, anyway Andy Murray isn't playing is he?
Do do do write the book. Make great reading for my grandchildren. Keep up the good work.

  12. Hi Barbara, really enjoyed both your shows. Love all your new products and added to my want/need list. I knew you'd find a replacement for Adirondacks!!! Lots of inspiration from the DT samples and your demos. Love this card too, thanks for sharing. I prefer the one with the panel vertical. I hope you do write that book, I think you'd be very good at it. I'd buy it for my book shelf even though I don't have any kids to read it to. Looking forward to your next show. Love Brenda xx
I'm sorry for upsetting people with my advice for Morag the other day
Hi Dot, hope your mum is improving xx

    1. Hi Brenda,
I don't know where you got the idea that you were upsetting us – I for one and everyone else from what I read , was extremely impressed with your advice. It was exactly right for Liam so don't you feel worried at all. Hope you enjoyed the shows so far – I know I did and have already placed my order for the Groovi goodies coming up!! Love and hugs Alison xxx

    2. Dear Brenda you didn't cause any upset you brought tears to my eyes for how you had the right answers for morag & liam your a special person to give your advice to help others lots of hugs to you and daisy xxx

    3. Oh Brenda my dear friend. I'm sure they were all supportive tears. Your advice really has made such a difference to Liam. He now has his own photo album which he is keeping beside his bed, and a 'Ruby Wishes' rose planted in the garden, on her favourite spot. He is getting used to the idea of having a puppy, since I explained that Ruby would be so upset to see him without a friend in the house. So please never stop being the supportive, informative friend that you are to all of us. As I said the other day, you truly are a blessing. Love and Hugs xxx

    4. Hi Brenda – my tears were happy tears that you had been so kind and thoughtful in your explanation to try to help Liam. Don't worry that you upset me at all – I was just very moved that you took so much time to try to help someone else from your own experience. Sending hugs to you and Daisy x

    5. Oh Brenda,I thought you were fantastic with your advice to Morag, that's why I got all emotional. Because I put myself in Liam's place and really felt for him. Not your fault at all, please dont think you were to blame, I'm so sorry if I made you feel it was, it's just that I'm a big softy. It did me good to have a cry as its better out than in, I tend to bottle things up. Love and hugs Pam xxx

    6. Hi Brenda – I totally agree with everything that has been said. Please, please don't stop giving out such wonderful and supportive advice, to so very many people here. We all feel that we are very lucky to have you here, with your amazing ability to explain so many things to us all. It's wonderful to hear how much better Liam is now – thanks to your advice and suggestions to Morag. Love and grateful hugs, Gilly xxx

    7. Brenda you have a very special talent, being able to explain your condition. We were all moved because of your eloquence and the way you spoke from the heart. Tears can be good xx

    8. Brenda my sweetheart never apologise for being you, your advice was perfect and you moved us to tears by being so wise and caring. Sending you and Daisy a big squishy hug xxxx

    9. Awww, thank you so much everyone for all your amazing words.
'Good' upset is always something I've struggled to interpret. I thought I had made you all feel very sad
      Now I'm feeling 'good' upset!
      Hugs back xxx

  13. Hi Barb,
Brilliant shows – don't know what you were worried about. I love the Wee Africa stamps etc but decided that I liked the one day wonder Groovi better and I could only afford one or the others but I placed my Groovi order direct from Clarity. I will have a think about the others at Leyburn. Really like the ink pads but if they are the same as Distress Inks I might have to think carefully as I have all of them. I do like the fact that these have the names on them and love the design of the large ones. Good luck for the next shows, love and hugs Alison xxx

    1. Hi to all my blog friends,
Well, I don't know what Barbara was worried about! The shows were fantastic and looking forward to the next one. Hope you've all got your cushions strapped on. Love and hugs to all of you, Alison xxx

    2. I totally agree Alison. They're always fantastic. I'm busy this week, but perhaps you may have a free day the week after?? I'm starting to dream of chocolate Mousse cake! Love and Hugs xxx

    3. Hi Alison, hope you have had a crafty day. I'm looking forward to the groovi shows to seethe demos. I was the other way round, had to order the stamps and stencils but need to save for the groovi plates if I want them………that should probably be WHEN I want them! XX

    4. Hi Alison – yes, the shows were fantastic, and no – Barbara didn't have anything to worry about! The Groovi plates are amazing, and it looks like they might even sell out, before the 9.00 am show tomorrow! Enjoy using them – love and hugs, Gilly xxx

    5. Hi Alison
I've missed the shows today and was going to enjoy them on catch up tomorrow. It sounds like it's beans on toast for dinner again this week ! Xxx

  14. Barbara you're shows were brilliant. Absolutely no less than expected. You have a fabulous tan, and you look so well, which is great to see. I love watching you with the feeling that I know you 'in real life'. I get such a kick out of being able to say to hubby "Barbara's told us that". Does that make me sad!!! Haha!
Enjoy the rest of your telly time. Love and hugs xxx

  15. Hello my wonderful blog friends. Sending you all lots of hugs and love. Special thoughts for Dot, and Anne and her daughter. xxx

    1. Hi Morag – so pleased to hear that Liam is so much improved now. Brenda is a very wise lady and it's wonderful to hear just how much her advice has already helped Liam! I have never heard of chocolate mousse cake before – it sounds amazing! It's so nice that you are able to be back here – take care, love and hugs Gilly xxx

  16. Hi Barb
Tennis! What tennis. There's not contest. It's Barbara for me every time. The stamps are just what I have been waiting for. The Lions are going to be perfect for my Son's August birthday. I hope you have managed to relax between shows. I am all ready for the Groovi show next. All the samples were wonderful and I loved your demos. The ink pads are so well designed and I have them on my wish list.
    Hugs from Chris X

  17. Love the shows I have watched so far and the products. I have got all the Twas the night stamps so don't think I'd want all the groovy ones as well, but hoping you may do them individually as well. You looked amazing, loved your outfit. Love and hugs Pam xx

  18. Hi all my lovely blog friends, hope you have enjoyed the shows too. Lovely products. Will be getting some soon I hope. Hope you have had the sunshine today. Thinking of you Dot hope you are ok. Love and hugs Pam

  19. Hi all my lovely blog friends, hope you have enjoyed the shows too. Lovely products. Will be getting some soon I hope. Hope you have had the sunshine today. Thinking of you Dot hope you are ok. Love and hugs Pam

    1. Hello Pam – we have had some sunshine here today and especially early evening, when it went really warm. The sea looked wonderful today – it was an amazing bright blue and we could see much wider and deeper views today, when we popped out! It always lifts your spirits, to just look at it! Take care, love and hugs Gilly xxx

  20. Hi Barbara, well Great shows the Groovi was wonderful that is my thing I do have a lot of your stamps but now love Groovi better, it just makes me relax so well. The DT samples were amazing if I can get half as good as them I will be so pleased. Will be placing my order next week. Hi ladies hope you have had a good day nighty nighty . Lynn xx

  21. Really loved the shows. So many new things and ideas to show us they were mind boggling. I am going to have to watch the shows again so I can take a bit more in. Wimbledon didn't stand a chance with me.

  22. Good evening Barbara – your shows and new products today were truly fantastic! I don't think that you need have worried, in case people didn't watch you, as the tennis was on too. I love tennis, but switched over when your shows came on – no contest really! Is Paul good at song and dance, or telling jokes? I am sure that the fantastic Groovi Christmas plates will have sold out, before he does his shows! You looked really well and your outfits were beautiful! Hugs Gilly x

    1. Hi to all of my lovely blog friends – I hope that you have all had a good day. I have enjoyed being able to watch some tennis, but more importantly Barbara's shows! I see that we all agree that the new products are great, and it's just a question of which of them you want (and can afford) the most. Good luck with your choices and playing with them too!
We were hoping to go away for a break in our motor home tomorrow, but will have to postpone, as Neill needs to visit the doctor. He had a blood test last week and his arm has bruised very badly and is swollen and very painful. Also, his 2nd hormone injection has bruised the skin and there is a lump under the skin where it went in. Quite worrying really, as the 1st injection was fine. Fingers crossed all will be well. Take care everyone, love and hugs Gilly xxx

    2. Hi Gilly, sorry to hear about Neil's problems, hope he can get them sorted at the doctors. John has had a blood test envelope come through and has appointment for blood on Tues with our hospital appointment on Friday – I guess we may know if the treatment has worked (or not 🙁 ) at the end of this week. I'm a bit scared now…. Positive thoughts required this week I think. Hope you can get away for a break soon. xx

    3. Hi Gilly I hope Neil is ok, that sounds rather sore. Hopefully you can get away soon after your Drs visit xxxx
Jackie sending you a hug and lots of positive thought xxx

  23. Have watched bits and pieces of the shows, have them all recorded to watch at my leisure! Loads of inspiration, I'm making so many notes. And someone commented above about their safari scrapbook – I have photos from a mammoth Africa trip I did 17 years ago that I haven't done anything with, so thinking about that now!!

You were looking lovely Barbara, even hubby commented on it. A couple of breaks obviously suited you.

    Good luck for tomorrow x

  24. Good evening everyone, such a lot to choose from Barbara! the night before Christmas is a definite as I have the stamps as well (I've only used one !!). I expect the coloured parchment and then the animals etc. will fall into my basket as well….. I'm going to have to meet the postie at the top of the road I reckon LOL !!

Hope everyone's had a good day, I've still go the shows to watch as had mum and nephew for lunch, then my niece and her partner turned up, first time I've seen her baby bump ! Am a bit worried my tummy doesn't look much smaller than mine …… Had a day of baby birds leaving nest above our back door so keeping Sally cat indoors was hard work. Babies got their wings and have all flown the nest. I hope they don't try for another family this year! Sparrows. One year the whole nest and babies were washed down our drainpipe and we were worried it might happen again with all the rain we've had. xxx

    1. Hi Jackie sounds like a lovely day, isn't it funny, we felt like foster parents when we had nesting blue tits last year and our hearts were in our mouths when they flew off. Xxx

  25. Only got to see one show will catch up with first hopefully tomorrow all going to be on catch up looks like any way hope all goes well love to animals xxx

  26. I loved the Christmas Groovi set, and tried really hard to buy it. I have a friend in Northern Ireland and gave that as the delivery address and the billing address, then they wouldn't accept my credit card number. So tried to redo the billing address to my own in Ireland, and I couldn't do that, because they wouldn't accept an address without a post code. They really really do not want me to buy anything from them.

  27. Hi Barbara
Been staying at mother in laws for the last two days so have missed your shows but have got a session planned for tomorrow, really looking forward to seeing what you've got. Love the giraffe skin, isn't it clever. Take care
    Love Diane xxx

    1. Hello my lovely blog friends, I'm sure you are all sat round the campfire now drinking hot chocolate!!! I'm looking forward to seeing all the new goodie. Sending hugs all round xxxx

  28. Hello Barb, what fabulous stamps and stencils. Loved the demos. Need to decide what is going to be the first purchase from the new goodies, but I must say coming from Africa, the animal stamps are topping the bill. Love the artwork you have shared and the giraffe skin technique. Take care. Bx

  29. So pleased it went well yesterday Barbara and I love that background like giraffe skin which goes beautifully with those cute giraffes with their own wonderful background. Will try and watch on catch up. x

  30. Hi Barbara

Great shows, love the giraffe technique and all the new goodies

Thank you for all the inspiration you give to me and your Clarity followers

    June x

  31. Just got all my stencils out to have a go at this and right on top was my stag stencil – surely the same technique will work for him too?
Looking forward to receiving my safari animal families – like many others I have your original mini Africa set so the new stamps will work a treat. Looking forward to living through more stories too – I was right there sitting on top of the giraffe with you! (shades of Jackanory!)

    Love
    Maggie (Yorkite)

  32. Glad it went well for you Barbara, I did get to see the first show and will catch up on the second. I love the stamps and stencils and those ink pads look intriguing. Hugs xx
