It’s Limerick Time!
Hi there!
Thanks for popping in.
Lots of lovely, talented ladies at the retreat again today;
it was great fun and I think they all had a good time.
But I’m starting to feel my age,
have eaten way too much –
and that bed is definitely calling my name!
Actually, Friday’s blog a private peak, right?
Well to be honest, I could really do with a good laugh.
All this worrying about Dave, and not being able to do anything is getting to both of us.
So I was wondering if you could help us out…
I always get a belly laugh out of your limericks,
so I thought we might lighten the mood.
Here are the first two lines:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
over to you now!
Copy and paste the first two lines into a comment below,
and then compose the rest of the limerick.
I’m still chuckling about the Cockerel from Chester….
On Sunday, when Dave and I are having our day off,
we will get out our laughometer
and pick a winner.
The winner will receive a £20 Clarity Gift Voucher
in a card made by yours faithfully.
Go on, give it a go!
Bring out the poet in you!
I really need a good old chuckle….good for the soul.
love & hugs,

Hi Barb,
Glad the retreats have gone well. I do really feel sorry for you and Dave and will try to wrack my brain to give you both a laugh but I'm really not good at limericks! On a personal note, I wanted to say thank you to All at Clarity. I received my new Groovi goodies ( including the fabulous tree) and they are all fabulous. I also phoned up yesterday to order my Open Day ticket for Catterick and another Groovi plate and I also received them today – how about that for service!!! Absolutely brilliant A- thank you so much. Love Alison xx
Hi Barbara
I don't know how to copy & paste on iPad. I'm better with stamps,ink and paint than with technology. This must be such a worrying time for you both. I'm not much of a poet either but here goes:-
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day
Her husband had barred
The use of the card
So she took out a loan straight away.
Hugs from Chris x
Good one ! X
Hi Barbara,
I'm no good at limericks but to be honest I think it be hard to better the one from Chris. It's great Chris.
Have a good weekend and don't do anything that the young girl from Torbay or myself wouldn't do!
Best Wishes Marie xx
Hello Barbara you and Dave have a restful weekend thinking of you both big teddy hugs as love the teddies hugging that made me smile xxx
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She spent so much money on stamps, stencils and Groovie
And sent her husband out
To work in the movies!
That's the best I can do! I had a lovely day today as my NDC envelope came so I sat In the sun and read it. I was laughing at the cardboard boxes and sympathised as I'm in the same position with Clarity boxes and others I've received kits in in the past but on a much smaller scale than you of course! I sincerely hope you find a stash of photo corner punches and, if you do, put me to the top of the list to buy one LOL !! I have stuff that I've forgotten about and every now and again I open a box and think what am I supposed to do with that! Some complicated card to put together. At least with a Clarity stamp and a stencil you can't get in to too much trouble!
Best wishes to you both and don't laugh to hard to do yourselves a mischief ! Xx
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
What products to buy she could never pick
until she learned stamping and the great Groovi trick
demonstrated by the Fab Barb Gray.
hugs Mags x
oh Barbara. plenty of rest for you. you don't want to go down Dave's path as well.
i'm no good at limericks so i'm sending plenty of hugs and well wishes xx
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She got all in a lather
With Deano and Barbara
And the table that squeaked – ooh I say!
I hope you and Dave enjoy our efforts! Enjoy your day off – hubby was out all day so has promised me a day off tomorrow – he'll look after baby so I can sleep, do my yoga and craft!
Oh bless you Barbara, I feel so much for you with all this worry. We feel so helpless when these things happen and desperately want tests etc to move much faster. Sometimes it is better knowing exactly what you are dealing with. I do so hope Dave soon starts to improve but a bit of laughter in the meantime can certainly help. The retreat was marvelous, thank-you for all the wonderful advice. I am too tired tonight after journey home to think of a limerick so will give it a little thought before Sunday xx.
Sending you both big hugs – I hope things become clear soon and that Dave gets better fast:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She loved to watch craft
Whilst having her bath
she makes the best bubble towers so they say!
ta da!
Hugs rachel x
Dear Barbara , so sorry that you and Dave are going through this difficult time…you WILL get through and I am sure lots of people are thinking of you and praying that Dave will soon feel much, much better.
On the limerick front…
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping tv night and day
Her husband said " hey…come to bed and let's play"
She said "I can't , I might miss Barbara Gray "!!!!!!!!
Hope that wasn't too riskay Barbara !!!!
Also hope you get lots of chuckles when you read all the limericks!
XxxRuth
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
Oh what fun she said
I've not ere been so gay
Thank you so much Barbara Gray
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day.
Her stash just got bigger
And the accounts it did jigger
But oh how she loved Barbara Gray!
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV Night and Day
Clarity Stamp and Barb's Art
Was, of course, the best part
And all of it came Flexi Pay!
I'm sorry you still have anxieties about Dave. I hope you get some answers soon and that he feels better.
I'm not a natural limerick poet at all, but will have a go in a good cause.
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She enjoyed copious tea
And loved free P and P,
And sent in emails saying "Oooh Aarr Aye"
Have a restful weekend. Carol x
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping tv night & day
But she dithered so long
That the goods had all gone
But she saved a small fortune that way.
Have a good weekend, Joy x
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She said, That's not funny,
I've spent all my money.
I'll have to make this craft pay!
Have a good day off and don't laugh too hard!

There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
When she saw her local Optician
He said you've got a condition
You've got square eyes from watching too much Barbara Gray!!
Have lots of rest! You must need it! Here is my try at a limerick:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day,
She really liked spending
But what really was trending,
Were the antics of Deano and Gray!
I am off to read the othe Limericks now so I can have a giggle before I go to bed! xxx
Hi Barb, I wish you and Dave all the strength you need to get through whatever you are facing and that it gets sorted for you soon. I've thought of another one, you've got me started now!
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
One day her partner raised his voice
Said it's me or the craft it's your choice
That young girl is still crafting today!!
I hope it raises a wee smile. Love to you both xx
Oh my yes
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV Night and Day
As this habit took hold
Her husband grew bold
And disconnected the electricitay!
But there was a young lady from down Crowborough way
Who logged onto a blog after having a right stressful day
Where her mind was set free
by the philosophy of Clarity
and the inspirational Barbara Gray!
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She could have watched a movie
But wouldn't have got her Groovi
With a free gift and only 40 to pay!
Sorry! I'm a bit rubbish at this Limerick lark x
Lol I think its brilliant
There are some great limericks here, just come to bed so Ive read up to here and this is my marker!
Ah well here goes
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She bought all they had
Until she went quite mad
Now they're coming to take her away
Ha ha he he
To the land of Clarity
I think they may do that to me .take me away
Me too Janice lol x
Hi Barbara
Received my member stamp today, isn't ironing lovely and just in time for exam results! I was also chuckling at your box situation but it sounds like you have a great team at Clarity and just shows what good employers you are to have staff that are willing to help you out and it's good Steve and Paul are helping too. Right limerick time – let's have a go and see what I can come up with.
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
With Martyn destroying things
And Deanno who sings
With of course the fabulous Barbara Gray
Well I've tried! I hope you and Dave have a lovely calm weekend with hopefully some sunshine.
Love Diane G xxx
Hello Barbara
Sorry, I am no good at composing but I have had a titter to myself reading all the excellent offerings from some clever people.
Received my monthly treat today and also my Groovi order. Fantastic. Love the monthly stamp and stencil and laughed at your newsletter.
Enjoy your day off on Sunday. I think you must all be on your knees.
Love
Roz.x
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
Her man thought she was daft,
She had no time to craft,
But she bought all she saw anyway!
Could do with a chuckle myself this week!
That's me
And me x
I am absolutely useless at Limericks but will join with you Barb, and giggle away at those who are entering. Well done everybody!
Hi Barb,
Well as promised ( or threatened) here is my attempt
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She spent all her cash,
On Clarity stash,
To Groovi along with Barbara Gray.
Not very good I'm afraid, but at least I tried!
Love Alison xx
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
Her husband did beckon
A "romp" he did reckon
But her heart was with Barbara Gray
Hello Barb, glad the retreats are great, I am sure the attendees keep you on your toes. Hope Dave is getting better, and glad to hear you will have the day off on Sunday together. Here is my attempt.
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
Her husband was alarmed
so he had to be charmed
As the bank balance was not going to stay.
Not the best attempt, but got my brain cells going. Take care Bx
No good at limricks just sending love and hugs to you both xxxxxxxlove June horrocks xx
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
It made her frown
When her TV broke down
But found groovi'n made the frown go away
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She knew it was her duty
To buy more and more Groovi
So she could play and play the Barbara Gray Way
Hope you enjoy some laughs. Rest xx
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She spent her working days
Stamping the Best Clarity ways
And finally fast-tracked by the MOJ
To follow the fantastic Barbara Gray!
I think I should have added "fired" by the MOJ – Hurray, hurrah, hurrah
Well not a poet but well worth a thought. I wonder what they would say when the legal papers had birds, fish, flowers stamped instead of the official stamp. That little devil in me needs to be curbed or just let loose!
Very best wishes and love
Anne (Reading)
Anne, that's funny, I can picture the faces of the lawyers seeing Clarity stamps on their official paperwork. Maybe an idea to keep in mind for whenever you're retiring from your job!!!! xx
Hi Barb,
I do hope Dave is going to be okay? Thinking of you both.
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
The housework was never done
as it was not as much fun
as spending all of hubbies pay!

There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watches shopping TV night and day
She became lazy and crazy
Drinking coffee and eating paztry
Then found just in time the blog of Barbara Gray
This young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She started to craft
Realising how daft
She was watching shopping TV night and day
The changed young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
Thanks to the wisdom
That shifted her perception
All thanks to the love of Barbara Gray
This is the first time of writing a limerick
I hope you and Dave take it easy this weekend and many thanks for your prompt reply to my email.
Big hugs Pen x
It's a little riskay, so if you're shy look away……….
There was a young girl (called Barbara) from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night & day,
Her boyfriend Dave said "Let's get groovy"
When he'd put on a porn movie…..
But she said "I've got my own Groovi to play with today!"
Hi Barbara – hope your last day is going well?
I am rubbish at limericks but here is my attempt:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She was crap with a hoover
But with ink was a mover
And it’s all thanks to Barbara Gray!
and:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She coloured with looong strokes
and added some short strokes
Now everyone's happy whey hay!!

big hugs to you and to Dave.
much love.

Easy least for me. Americano
You just had to get it in Dawn, lol

Learning how to use stencils
And colouring with pencils
From the wonderful Barbara Gray
Have a restful weekend. x
I've just spent some time reading all the clever and funny limericks . Wow ,ladies you can craft and compose . Joy now Janice
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She watched till cross-eyed.
Then 'Eureka!' she cried.
'A two for one bargain. Hooray!'
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
Her husband complained.
The remote she had tamed.
Now he grooves in the Barbara Gray way.
Hope Dave is feeling better and you both have a great weekend.

She learned how to stamp
With an ink pad, just damp
In the Classroom with Barbara Gray
Oh Barbara you poor souls, life must be feeling pretty awful and endless for you both just now, all that worrying and now knowing is bound to be wearing you down, as well as the immense pressure you put on yourself and the effort to get up every day and do your faking it to make it. I really do feel for you both, and hope, hope so much that it all comes good very soon. Neither of you deserve to be going through this. Please take good care of yourself Barbara, and let those around you do everything they can and want to do for you please. A bit of a long shot but have your doctors considered Dave's symptoms stemming from an inner ear problem? If not consider asking them, it wouldn't do any harm, worth a shot to get to the bottom of what's wrong.
Well by now you'll know I can't even attempt a limerick, and I can't think of any funny stories to tell you today. My sparrows have up and left this week, so they're not going to oblige with anything to tell. Didn't even show me the courtesy of thanking me for my hospitality, never mind leaving a tip!!! Well they did leave a tip behind but not the good kind – ragged, leaking hanging basket liners, and a mound of by now going off rice on the bird table for me to clean up next week!!!! Oh, and a sunflower growing up through one of the tomato plants from their cohorts, the coal tits, burying the bird seed everywhere, just in case!!! It's very quiet and sad without them, guess they had raised all the families they intend to this year and off to they're next staging post. One of my favourite plants in my gardens is just coming into full bloom, my agapanthus whose flowers are a beautiful blue with a hint of purple colour. It throws up thick long flower stems with one bud on each that opens to a large, about 6 inch diameter dome of a mass of these individual flowers. The hoverflies love it too!! I call it the sloth of the plant world, everything happens at snail pace, in it's own time!!! The flower buds started bursting open must be about 3 weeks ago at least, and only now are the first few individual flowers open. They are fickle plants, demand to be fed through spring if you want to see any flowers from them. And not just any old feed, it's got to be liquid feed. And if you don't get it spot on in terms of how much and how often you feed it, it goes in the huff, and teases you giving you only 2-3 flower stems, saying – see, if you'd made the effort to feed me right I would have rewarded you with loads of these, try again next year!!! Well I've been trying to get it right for several years, one year managing to get it to relent and give me 6 flower stems!!! This year, I've got it spot on, 20 flower stems 🙂 🙂 Can't wait to see them all blooming together, hope I'll be allowed to get some photos of it, if not I'll need to make do with Mindfulness photos.
Please look after yourselves, and I hope you both have a lovely day tomorrow, full of special quality time. Thinking about you both loads, loads of big bear hugs and love Brenda xx
That should say 'not' knowing. Still not remembering this does predictive text, and changes things just cos it feels like it!!! 'their', not they're – that one might be my on strike brain though!!!!
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
Dad said, Turn that thing off,
But Mum said with a cough,
We're waiting to watch Barbara Gray!
Just another one which came to me in bed this morning.
Very busy with plans for Madeline's wedding. Bought the rest of the china for tea today and must tackle the orders of service – same clarity stamp as the teapot invitations.
Thanks for finding time to write the club letter, you always make me smile.
Glad you are taking things a little easier.
Hi Barbara,
here is my limerick:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day.
No space left in a room –
finally an impending doom.
The cleaning lady cleared out whilst the girl was away!
Sorry, my brain is not working so well today because our heatwave is going on…
Have a nice weekend

There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She saved and she saved
for the products she craved
Shrink plastic, & stamps, by B Gray!
Hi Barbara hope the last of the retreats went well and that you and Dave have a restful remaining weekend. Here we go with the Limerick
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She saw a stamp that she liked
And the price wasn't hiked
So she placed an order straight away
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
But then just by chance
She had a whirlwind romance
With a brave handsome knave
Known locally as 'Dave'
Now it's off with the telly
Giving plenty of time for some welly … !?!
No offence meant – hope none taken. Love to you both.
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
The more that she buys,
Her bank manager cries.
All down to the selling techniques of Nigel May!

All down to the selling techniques of Nigel May!
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
Then up Barbara Gray popped
So she shopped til she dropped
Now she's famous for a Gelli plate play!
There was a young lady from Torbay
Who watched shopping TV night and day
She bought lots of stamps and stencils
And ever so many coloured pencils
Well she couldn't resist a bargain, could she?
Hope you have a restful rest of the weekend.
There was a young girl from Torbay
Who watched shopping tv night and day
Her stamping became rusty
And her brayer quite crusty
But she was hooked by Dean's dancing toupee
Enjoy your day off … and the sunshine x
I got my husband to have a go and I nearly forgot to post them. Here goes:
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
But what she liked best
and much more than the rest
were the programmes of Barbara Gray.
and
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
So she went to the doctor
and what he said shocked her
Cos the cure was a week with no telly in Orkney.
Have a great day off. Hugs Jackie
Oh boy, these limerick competitions do challenge me, so I've resisted looking at a laughing at the others until I did my own! Hope you're enjoying your days off, and that they give you a good laugh to finish the weekend off.
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day;
She was such a fanatic
That she maxed our her plastic
And now all she can do is to pray!!!
Sadly, and maybe luckily for me I can't get the craft channel on my TV at the moment – need to get on to BT to sort it out, but maybe I'll spend more time crafting rather than watching, which can only be a good thing! Susan x
There was a young girl from Torbay,
Who watched shopping TV night and day,
"Oh I really do need one,
Quick, before they have all gone,
I'll order it on flexi-pay!" Hear her say.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend xx
That was a fun read, well done ladies. Sincerely hope Dave is feeling better sooner rather than later xx
Only just catching up on the blogs as I went to visit my new grandson x
Worry is an awful thing but hang in there the answers will come soon
Take care
Much Love
