Matrix Feather.

Matrix Feather.

Hello There!
Happy Saturday!
Thought I’d just show you a neat birthday card, using our Claritycard and a resist technique.
You need:
Stamp the Matrix Feather randomly over the Claritycard using Versamark. Be sure to remove the blue indexing ink from the stamp before you dive into the Versamark; else it will get mightily blue…

I have used Distress inks for a change, but you can just as easily use Willow, Cloudy Blue and Latte Adirondacks with your Speedball brayer to achieve a similar result.

Spread some Peeled Paint ink on your blending mat with the brayer; then transfer the ink to the card.
You will see the feathers come up white.

Now stamp the feather randomly over the top
using Weathered Wood,
and the fabby sentiment in Black.
Black Adirondack, Black Soot Distress – You pick.

If you take a close look, you can see what I mean.
If you like, you can add a touch of Weathered Wood to the background with the Brayer, too.
I love this colour combination!
Now for the edges. This is where the Blending Mat comes in useful.
Work a little Weathered Wood Distress ink or Slate Adirondack ink into your blending mat with a blending tool.
Lay your artwork on the mat, and gently sweep the ink into the edges using a light circular movement.
Adds depth.

Attach a white feather to a strip of torn tracing paper and fold round the artwork at either end.

That’s the easy bit! Took ages to coax the dove off the perch, so that I could pluck a feather!
The background piece is done exactly the same,
but using much more faded ink and Clarity Paper. The paper is brilliant for backgrounds like this, because it has the same coating as the card, but is much thinner.
So if it’s your birthday today,
please accept this little greeting from me.
DEE PARAMOUR!! I know you are out there! xxx
Have a great day x
much love

  5. Happy Birthday, Dee. I think my brain has finally given way today. I just spent ages trying to work our how you had done that feather to make it look real, then realised that you had explained it in the next bit. Dohhh! I love that matrix feather, it is just so versatile. Have a good show this weekend. xx Maggie

  7. Oh Barbara, every time I think I have seen everything you come up with something different. I have visions of you chasing the Dove round the garden to obtain the feather, but I also know that know wild life will have been hurt in the making of this card. Just about to start playing with some of my new Clarity goodies as I would like to do a new home card for one of the Trefoil Guild members who has recently moved house and we have a meeting this afternoon so better get a move on and put the Computer away.

  8. Absolutely love this card … so gentle and subtle.. can imagine using the background wit other sentiments and it would be suitable for many occasions. Think I might use it as my Easter cards this year 🙂 xx

  9. Hi Barbara. love this card. The beautiful feather stamp, subtle colours and resist technique are gorgeous. Did have a vision of a near naked dove shivering on it's perch though : ) Happy Birthday Dee, and anyone else celebrating their birthday today. Take care.

  11. Wonderful card – I use these stamps a lot for cards, but have never used this resist technique! I can see a little playtime coming this afternoon, whilst my other half watches the rugby… Thanks, Susan x

  12. Full of cold and feeling pretty rubbish today but a trip to Barbara's Blog never fails to lift my spirits and this one is no exception !! So subtle and the white feather just adds that extra touch of class. My daily blog fix is better than any medicine I can think of that's for sure ! Thanks Barbara xx

  13. Fabulous! Beautiful colours & gorgeous design. I have the matrix feather and often use it for male cards but this looks really pretty and feminine. Pat x
