76 Days To Christmas – You Can’t See the Spot You’re Standing On

76 Days To Christmas – You Can’t See the Spot You’re Standing On

Hi there,

A glimpse into the Gray world…

Yesterday Dave, Grace and I took the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito, on the other side of the Bay.

Golden Gate Bridge on the left, Bay Bridge on the right. Glorious sunshine. It was Dave’s Day, as we called it.

After an emotional couple of days — crowds of people in black, a huge funeral and celebration of life, immense sadness, and a roller coaster of tears and laughter, stories and memories — Dave got to choose entirely what we did for the whole day.

It was our way of thanking him for quietly being our rock. For standing behind us, watching over us, keeping an eye on us. As always.

So he elected to go to the Ferry Building, which is very hip too, then catch a ferry across the water to the other side, for a stroll through Sausalito and lunch.

And so we did.

The pelicans swooped, the people chatted, the sun glistened on the water. Alcatraz loomed large as we glided past.

It was a good choice indeed.

One of the best things about this trip — and I have experienced this many times — is looking back at the San Francisco skyline when you sail some distance from the shoreline.

It is magnificent.

When you’re in the thick of it, in between all those buildings, you really can’t appreciate the impressive magnitude of it.

As I always say, you can’t see the spot you’re standing on.

Much like life, right?

All the time you’re pedalling and “in it”, you cannot see the wood for the trees. Sometimes you just have to step away, get a little distance, and reevaluate where you are.

Just as I am doing here at the moment.

So Dave is coming home to Blighty on Saturday, and Grace and I are staying here a while longer. Do a little thinking, do a little talking, spend a little time together — and spend some precious time with our beautiful baby grandson, Michael.

Which reminds me, I’d best get a wriggle on!

It’s his baptism at 9am this morning!

Before I dash, let me shine a little festive light on these fabby Christmas Wreath Stencils. Clarity Classics…HERE

Feast your eyes on the art samples …

But now I really ought to go get dressed. What does one wear to a formal baptism? Really should have packed that other dress!

Love and Clarity,

  1. Lovely artwork!

Funerals are hard but important – I am off to one in a few days – an “Auntie” from childhood……

Glad you’re having a wonderful time with Michael!
