Day 22 – August Arty Challenge – I Allow Myself To Play

I Allow Myself To Play

I think sometimes we forget that making art is supposed to be fun! We get so caught up in whether it looks right, whether the colours work, whether we’ve done it “properly”, that all the joy can disappear out of it. So today’s affirmation is a little reminder to loosen up and play.
Try the colour you wouldn’t normally choose. Put something where it probably shouldn’t go. Scribble, splodge, stamp, tear, layer — and see what happens! You don’t have to know where you’re going before you start. In fact, some of my favourite arty discoveries have happened when I’ve stopped trying to make something wonderful and simply allowed myself to play. No pressure. No rules. Just curiosity and a bit of fun.
and check out Grace’s Claritymattersblog today! So much creative play there – and all yours!!!

  1. Another great process, I just need to find my gel medium – that’s my first challenge for today it seems. Sounds as if you have had a really busy but successful week with the Inky Retreats & Pop up Shop, now it is time to hand over to Louise & Paul for the Parchment Retreat, today & tomorrow. At least the weather is cooler so the heat won’t have affected the inks & parchment.
Hope you get time to sit in the garden with a good book or perhaps an hour or two with your pottery this weekend, resting before its time to start work again on Monday or rather it will be the SHAC at 10 xx
