Believe you can and you’re halfway there.
I love this one, because so often the biggest thing standing between us and having a go is that little voice telling us we can’t.
I’m not artistic enough.
I’m no good at that.
Mine won’t look like theirs.
Sound familiar? But the minute we change the conversation in our head and think, Actually, why not me? I’ll give it a go, something shifts. You don’t have to know exactly what you’re doing, and you certainly don’t have to know how it will turn out. You just have to believe that you can. Then pick up the pen, the brush, the stamp, the scissors – whatever you’re playing with today – and start. That really is half the battle. And look at us – Day 18 already! We’re well over halfway through our August Arty Challenge too! xxx

Good Morning Barbara and friends. Do hope the retreat is going well. Much cooler here in Epsom, Surrey and rain is forecast for later today/tomorrow so fingers crossed.
Think this saying is for me as I have a gel press which I have had for years and never tried. Must say your demo made it look quite easy so I must have a go.

‘Believe you can and you’re halfway there’ is just what I need this morning as I have to try to open a drawer which is stuck, something lodged at the top and i can only open it a fraction, so I shall have this saying in my mind at my next ‘go’ at it. Great art today, thank you Barbara, trust the retreats are going well, and enjoyed by all. xx
Thank you for pushing me to believe I can! I’ve always shied away from using acrylic paints on the gel-press but, for this challenge, I decided to give it a go. It wasn’t going to be easy, because I’m doing my daily art on a calendar block printed on basic copy paper, so the canvas is tiny and I have to mask off the rest of the page. Anyway, I watched your video several times and then got stuck in – and I’m very happy with the results! So enjoying this daily dose of art and being encouraged to try new techniques.

I have had a go at the challenge. I don’t use my gel plate as often as I should because it is always fun when I do. I have quite a few pieces to use now as I had a trial run. Thanks for the push Barb.
Looking forward to the retreat tomorrow, yay!

Hi Barbara, another great piece of artwork. Its lovely seeing everyone having a go as well. I just need to get going with it all, but unfortunately my Mom who was 97 passed away suddenly but peacefully at the end of July which has caused me to be a bit busy with official stuff. This will pass and I am sure I will enjoy catching up with everything next week after the funeral.
Hope the first retreat went well & you will be getting ready for the 2nd group in a few hours time to start all over again. At least the weather seems to have cooled down a bit to a much more comfortable level for everyone not only those crafting with inks & paints.
