From the heart…
Hi there
Once again, I apologise for going AWOL, and not blogging for what feels like weeks. I can’t even come up with a good excuse, except that we’ve been working such long hours at Clarity, that the evenings just became a time to sit down and switch off. I treated us to Parker Knoll recliners a while ago. You know, the electric ones which bring the foot rest up and the back down, and even tip you out when you’re unable to get up from a sitting position! Future proofing we called it at the time! Little did we know that they would fast become the highlight of our days! Not because we were old and decrepit – although if I were a book you could definitely consider me to be “well thumbed”. We’re just worn out by the time the day is done.
When I stop to actually put pen to paper, as it were, and consider the few weeks past, it’s been a real challenge at work. Since Create & Craft folded in Oundle, Peterborough, the big question has been whether Clarity would be able to keep going. I know I’ve told you all this. You know how we dived into Clarity TV almost immediately, how we started going LIVE on Facebook almost daily, to keep the boat afloat, how we were coming up with new and fabulous ideas/products weekly. All this in a bid to navigate the good ship Clarity through the storm. The thing is, without an audience, a buying audience, it all means nothing.
Want to hear some very good news? It worked. It really did. We got out of the very deep hole we’d been left in to rot and die, clawed our way back up to the surface, and pulled ourselves out of what was a diabolical mess. Sound dramatic? After 32 years (that’s half my life) of working like a Trojan to ensure a creative, kind and productive company, it certainly felt like a modern day commercial massacre attempt. And when you read the administrator reports, and see what has happened to the shareholders (err… that’ll be me too), those 2 million shares of mine, which are now worth a grand total of £2 – well friends, all I can say is – there went our retirement plan! Silly me, for getting sucked in by a bunch of con men.
But back to the good news, which is largely due to you, our Clarity family. Because you dug deep too, and pulled us out of the hole. You watched, you supported, you bought. You knew what was needed, and you rallied. I have always been grateful for your support – you know that! But this last couple of months, you have literally pulled the company from the brink.
It continues to be a challenge, of course! It’s an ongoing flow. It always was, but at least now WE are in charge of the oars, and we row the boat.
There are so many new, creative ideas in the pipeline at Clarity! Paul and I have been planning our Clarity TV schedule, and working out when to launch what! We are actually excited for January to come round, so we can get back in the saddle, and show you what we’ve come up with!
But December is Subscription Month. December is when our Clarity Club Members subscribe to our Project Clubs for 2025. If you have signed up for another year, I thank you. If you have upgraded to 2 project clubs, or even all 3, then I thank you profusely. Because it is the subscriptions which carry us through – whether you pay in full now, or split the payments monthly throughout the year. You can sign up online, HERE or you can call Sue on 01732 868215. If you have never heard of our Clarity Craft Club – well, you don’t know what you’re missing! CLICK HERE.
I’m having a day off today. Grace and Mark are home from the States, and we are all going to see Oma today. That will be wonderful. Mark hasn’t been home to England since his Grandad’s funeral, so it will be good to see his Oma again.
As for blogging here, to be honest, I have been in a dark place in my head quite a bit, and I tend to retreat to the back of the cave when that is the case. I don’t see the point in sharing misery. So when I’m tired and low, it’s a no-go! I have to withdraw, process the feelings of betrayal, anger, resentment, fear etc.
So today, for the first time in a while, I felt optimistic enough to come out of the cave and chat to you. I am sure you understand. I can only fake it to make it so much, but it works, it really does.
Please bear with me. One day at a time things are improving. You’ll know my life is properly back on track when you see pictures of pottery popping up! Haven’t been near the clay since before the wedding in September.
Right. Time to put my smile on, and visit Mum.
Love always,
Barb x x xs

you will get there Barbara,I know you will, thankyou to for all for all the wonderful times you have spent with us all,I for 1 am very grateful, have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and all of Clarityxx
I check the blog every day although, busy as you are, it is understandable that you get too tired.
So pleased things are starting to come together. You and your team are exceptional in your work ethic which is certainly paying off.
I have signed up for another 3 clubs (and paid in full) and look forward to the next year’s projects.
The rise and recline chairs are comfy but make me drowsy, often falling asleep when I should be doing other things but I ain’t complaining!!!!!
Knowing you, you won’t be switching off totally over the Christmas period, too much roiling round that creative brain of yours, but do hope you will get some meaningful rest with your family around you.
Have a great day with your Mum.

Hiya – I’m still here too! Renewed my club membership last week. Onwards & upwards (and all this with a broken shoulder – crap pavement!) We can do it, we are in this together. Merry Christmas to you, Dave, cats and kids. Love you.
Maggie (York UK)
Enjoy a wonderful family day, and make some positive Christmas memories to dispel some of the gloom. No wonder you feel so exhausted, you must have been living off adrenaline for months. Happy to have rejoined your club if it’s supporting your recovery! Take care of yourselves xxx
Well, well. A fire on a ship is never going to be anything other than a disaster and as you said yesterday by sheer hard work and determination you have managed to put out the flames. We were all there with you passing the buckets of water along the line. Now is the time to take stock, clear up the mess and rest. All of you at Clarity deserve to have good break to recharge your batteries and spend time with your families. Wishing each and everyone of you a Happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year xxxx
Dear Barbara,
You impress me always with your flexibility and adaptability. I know I would have crawled into that cave and pulled the entrance closed behind me, you and your amazing team rallied round and found new ways around . You are an inspiration to us all. I wish you, all your family and the Clarity crew, a peaceful festive season and the chance to recoup and regroup ready for 2025z
I will be signing up again of course.
Love to you?
Linda Xx
Wow, you have come such a long way.
It is OK to be angry about Create and Craft managers – their actions are entirely unacceptable and fraud wrapped up in business speak. There was no reason not to trust them in the past as it seemed to be a success. Some things are unforgivable and will never be OK with you – this is one of them. So, give yourself some credit where it is due, you did not give up, you fought your corner, you made it work when many people would have thrown in the towel, that takes some doing. We never know what’s around the corner but the future is going to be filled with your energy and that can only be a good thing. Even in the darkest of moments Barbara, there is still light. Its within you, even if you can’t see it, we can, and you will too given time (plus gin and several large boxes of chocolate!). Much love to you all.
Hi Barbara, so sorry you’ve been having such a sh***y time recently. C&C folding must have been a real blow, but you and Dave and the team are very resourceful. That being said, it all takes its toll so you deserve to back pedal a little. Have a lovely day with your Mum and family. I know your kids will really pull you up, you’re very lucky to have such a supportive family. I don’t do so much paperwork these days, but I may join the club just to support you and the Clarity team. Have a good, restful Christmas and all the very best for 2025 … onwards and upwards 😉
I simply wish you and the Clarity Family a very Happy and Prosperous 2025. May you go from strength to strength and continue to entertain and inspire us. X
Goodness you are made of strong stuff , even if you don’t think so, thank you thank you for keeping going we all love you and I wish you the best of Christmas’s with your lovely family. Thanks also to all of the clarity team – enjoy your break and have a wonderful Christmas and new year . Xx
Glad you are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Onwards and upwards
Hope you have a lovely Christmas.
Sending love and hugs.
What you have achieved is quite remarkable, that is all pulling together at the same time, it has to be other wise you would just be rowing round and round getting nowhere fast. Enjoy your Christmas break, and loooking forward to what you have got in store for all of us in 2025! One thing I would like to mention is if I wanted to buy a piece of your Pottery how would I be able to do that?
lovely to see your blog, Barbara.
I’ve been worried about you, dave, and the team. You are only human and you’ve been (understandably) pushing things so hard. It has been a pleasure to see you on the ‘tv’ tho. Whilst I miss the C&C presenters, I love that you’re your own boss on your social TV. I can’t always sit and watch, but now I can enjoy listening to you if I’m busy, and I feel part of the party even if I’m washing up!
We knew things were going to be tough for you for a while. My husband was a credit controller so had many dealings with companies going through insolvency & administration. it never ends well for the creditors. I did peek at some of the paperwork. it is scary.
So, I’m delighted the clarity family have all done our bit to help. personally it’s been a pleasure. life would be flatter without clarity joy. Though I do need to start making things with the stuff I’ve bought!!
much love to you all xxx
Craft (and life) wouldn’t be the same without you Barbara. We are very appreciative of you and all of your team.
I watched a film the other day and they said ” it will all be right in the end and if it isn’t right it’s not the end” . Keep going . we love you.
Wishing you all the peace and joy of Christmas and may it last all the coming year.
xxx
You have my utmost admiration Barbara. You were dealt a HUGE blow, and whilst you were probably feeling like giving up , you didn’t! You just did what had to be done to keep floating the good ship Clarity. You were quick to adapt and produced even better “selly telly” shows than we saw on Create and Craft. Not once have I heard you say anything negative either! That takes a special kind of person. Enjoy your time with the kids over Christmas (they must be incredibly proud of their Mum!)and I really hope you get to spend some time in those Parker Knolls too!! Love to you all xx
Barbara Gray, you inspire me on a regular basis with how stoic and resilient you always appear to be! You kept us all going through lockdown, thank goodness, so only fitting that the Clarity “family” stand together to keep the did ship afloat! The con men will get their karma in time. Here’s to a very successful and brighter 2025! The year I will manage to make all my Christmas cards 😂😂🎄. Merry Christmas to you and the family
I’m so glad that you feel things are improving and I know it has been a hard slog for all of you. It’s so good to know that we have all played a tiny part in the recovery. I will, of course, be renewing the clubs.
I wish you a wonderful Christmas with the family and a peaceful new year. Looking forward to what you are launching on 5th January.
Love and hugs. Xx
so pleased you felt like blogging today, that things are gradually improving and that Clarity is managing to stay afloat. You have put in so much time and hardwork and now you deserve time to rest and relax with your family. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and a successful 2025.
So glad to hear that there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel! Enjoy having your children home for Christmas. Wishing everyone at Clarity a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
So glad that there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. You and your Clarity team deserve every success you achieve. You are so important to so many people and if we can help by supporting you and increasing our crafty stash, well it’s a hard job but needs must. (At least that’s what I tell my husband when the credit card bill arrives!)
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy, prosperous new year. xx
You and your team have been amazing through all of this disaster and upheaval to your lives. I am so happy for you (and us) that Clarity TV has been a success and you can row your own boat now. Enjoy Christmas with family and friends and all the best to all for 2025.
Wishing you all a peaceful, family Christmas and a successful 2025. You so deserve it. I am just sorry that you found yourself at the bottom of a very deep dark hole, so I am glad you are now seeing the light 🎄
Great to read your blog today and understand when you just can’t blog. You have done an amazing job over the past few months, well years actually, building your team and producing fabulous products. Enjoy your time with the family build some new memories. Looking forward to what’s in store for January.Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year xxx
can’t help but admire the way you, Dave and the staff have weathered this storm. You are all brilliant in my eyes x
Barbara, take time to rest and enjoy yourself with all your family, try to put the work worries to the back of the cave. So pleased that you and the Clarity team are making such good progress after the devastating blow that C & C dealt you. Looking forward to the New Year and all your new ideas and projects. Your selly telly is brilliant and so good that you can spend the time on the demos to completion and not rushed to finish up. I can’t often watch live but do try to catch up and join the craftalong. Love and hugs to a very special lady and also to all your family and team
I am glad to hear that you have felt able to venture out from your cave, however briefly – a positive sign I think. I do the same whilst in a storm – take a step back and withdraw; have a break from pretending – although sometimes it can be quite hard to make that decision to step back out again…………………..
When I read your blog the image that came to mind was of moles (the cute furry kind), busy at work, unseen and hidden away, popping up now and again – the only sign that they are there is the trail of mole hills in the field! Perhaps we could draw some moles in the SHAC one day – good opportunity for shading practice methinks!
We have sofas that also recline – I wasn’t bothered about the reclining option until I slipped at work and damaged both legs, my left knee and right ankle – take it from me, you can’t limp when both legs hurt, I shuffled and still not sorted 3 years on! Definitely wouldn’t want to be without the recliners now though!
I wish you, your family and all the Clarity team a very happy Christmas and a peaceful, creative new year! Thank you for everything, you are all much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing where the journey takes us to next…
I have been missing the blog but understand why you couldn’t do it. Glad things are going better now. I will be joining all of the clubs again for next year as it is a highlight of the month when it arrives.
Hope you and the family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Love and hugs
Yvonne
Having read your blog the only plausible explanation I can come with….you must have triple the amount of hours in your days, in comparison to everyone else 🤣. Team Clarity are achieving the most amazing things together with you as their bus driver. Thank you thank you, so so much. Everything you are doing is so, so appreciated. And Clarity Social TV is second to none, so much more informative than any of the other/previous selly telly channels and the demo’s are just brilliant. Paul and yourself are just the most brilliant double act……
And you don’t need to worry about ‘hard sell’ either cos you make it so easy to be tempted to buy your products, they’re so blooming’ brilliant and exceptional quality.
I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking this……You keep making them, and we’ll always be here to buy them.
Hope you have the best time this Christmas with your family, you really do deserve every second xXx
Barb, you never have to apologise for missing the Blog or for anything else Clarity. What you and the Team have had to go through recently is incredible, and what you have all achieved to come through it is nothing short of a miracle. We have always known how brilliant Team Clarity are, working so well together to provide the amazing service that is second to none. The “silver lining” in the awful cloud you have suffered is that you have created a “TV Channel” that is far better than any “selly telly” and strengthened the bond between your good selves and those of us out here in the Clarity Community! So I am looking forward to 2025 and what you have in store for us – and I am sure it will be more of the Clarity Imaginative, Innovative and Inspirational products, education and service that we have known for so long!
And , yes, I have renewed my Club Memberships (3) for the New Year!
And thank you for this Year’s Treasure Hunt, it’s been as good as ever and great fun, and 25% 0ff the goodies, maybe one last order for this year?
Wishing you and Dave and all of your amazing Team Clarity a very Groovi Christmas and a Clarity New Year! And please take care and travel gently! 😊
So glad you felt you could come out of the cave for a little while. I am sure that the past few months have been nothing short of a nightmare for you and all the Clarity family and am so happy that you can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
What you have achieved though in such a short time is remarkable. Clarity tv is so much better and you and Paul are so naughty at times . Will be renewing my club subscription for 2025.
Wishing you and your family and all at Clarity crafts the happiest of Christmases and may the new year be bigger and better!! Just can’t wait to see what you have planned for us.
It’s totally understandable that you didn’t have the heart to blog, there’s nothing wrong with that! You’ve worked so hard steering the good ship Clarity since C & C folded and absolutely deserve to put your feet up (literally) at the end of the day. I’m really pleased to hear that things are going in the right direction for you now and I hope that it continues to go well.
I much prefer Clarity TV to C&C, you have more time to demonstrate and consequently I’m inspired and also learning more from your tricks in tips, including the fact that I want more products in my stash! 😂
I’ll be subscribing to all 3 clubs again and I’m looking forward to seeing what products and inspiration you have in store for us next year. I’m pretty sure that many will be on my wish list. On that note, is it feasible and cost effective to have a ’wish list,’ function on the Clarity website? I have a written list here at home but it’s not always to hand when I watch you showcase something and then I forget. I also don’t necessarily have the funds immediately to buy straight away so I don’t put it in my basket, it would be handy to just click it into a wish list. You would also be able to see what people are hankering after if that’s something that you want to know? This is possibly too complicated, involved and expensive for you and quite possibly not worth the bother. If so, just ignore me. 😂😂
Wishing you, your family and everyone at Clarity a very happy Christmas and a wonderful, successful new year.
Jane xx 🌸🌼🌺
Thank you for taking the time to share the update on the situation at Clarity Towers. Sorry that your retirement plans have been scuppered but glad the good ship Clarity is riding the storm. You have always said that the demos sold the products & now that you can complete each one, be it that it may take a little longer than the hour planned that is so much better & encourages those watching to buy so they can give it a go. Not that a lot of us need an excuse to buy a Clarity product !!
I am looking forward to seeing what Dave has come up with for us on 5 January.
Meanwhile enjoy the time Mark & Grace are with you & the rest of the family over the Christmas holidays. Make the most of those recliners & we will be happy to read your blog when you feel up to writing them – I check in every day just in case but today my watch showed me the notification so now I know that happens I won’t miss one.
I will send my email in to Sue now to resubscribe to the clubs – I love receiving the envelope each month xx
Hi Barbara, hope you’ve had a lovely day with your mum and the kids. I started to reply this morning then got distracted, it was lovely to see your blog though. You’ve done wonders and, who knows, it might be for the best as you and Paul have said no travelling up to studio for a start.
I remember Hochanda going down and took my share with them, thankfully not a great deal in the scheme of things but, even so, no one seems bothered about those who lose out, customers or suppliers or staff who lose their jobs. Those that messed up will just start again and do it somewhere else.
I think we’re all enjoying the shows and the time spent on looking at the samples without the time spent on the sell, your products sell themselves.
Did you know there’s a David Roe on Countdown today, he’s in the week of finals, he seems a nice man so it must go with the name – I don’t think it’s your Dave as he’s been too busy! He survived to another round so he’s quite clever like your Dave!
I’m off to renew my subscription to the club, all three as usual. The ones that arrived this week are fab. Like you I love my chair and am always glad to sink into it, mine doesn’t push me out though ! Sometimes I think I need it ! Hope you’ve had a lovely day xxx
Dear Barbara ,Iam so sorry to hear how tough it has been and perfectly understand the need to retreat .You are so right to process in your own way .Self care is so important .
I had been considering not renewing my membership as the customs charge has now increased to €7.21 each month to receive my stamp .Yet I reflect on how much value I receive by being in the club and the joy I get from the envelope on the mat and the ideas within it .So I will definitely renew !!.
Wishing you , your family and all the team at Clarity a very Happy and peaceful Christmas and good health in 2025 .Carmel xxx
Dearest Barbara, what a roller coaster journey you have been on, you are an inspiration to us all. So glad Clarity is now turning the corner. You have an amazing team, family and business. Thank you for all you do for us. Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and continued success for 2025!
I will be renewing my membership shortly.

So glad you are back..on and off at least. I have been looking every night, really missed you. Wishing you a lovely Christmas and good happy New Year, to you, and your family, cuddles and kisses for the kitties xxxx
Hi Barbara
Glad you gave me a nudge about my club subscription totally forgot will be signing up for another year. Hope you all have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Love
Ruth and Jackie xx
Dear Barb, what a heartfelt blog post. Sending huge hugs. You have immense grit and determination, and that, has got Clarity, Dave and the team through tough times. So glad I could contribute a tiny bit by supporting you. Take care, have a rest, enjoy family time. Love to all the family and Clarity team. Bx
Dear Barbara, you are an inspiration to us all, Olivia, Leah and I really enjoyed our 2 day summer retreat in August and made the cottages collage amongst other things. On March 21st the three of us are helping our Craft Club members to make the Lighthouse collage, we meet up twice a month at Lane End Village Hall. I found the group via your live chat and Grace put me in touch with Berni last year. We do parchment one week and the other week someone bring an idea to make. Take care Barbara have a lovely time with the family, I will be spending it with my American Dave and Skye our Jack Russell and family downstairs. xxx
Dear Barbara, I would just like to say how much you’re appreciated. along with all your team. Watching the shows on Clarity TV is so much more informative and love the banter. Keep up the good work, and I hope that 2025 will be so much happier for you all.
Merry Christmas and a HAPPY new year.
Dear Barb,
Other people have expressed all the things I would have chosen to write to you, so all I will say is that I have been watching and worrying about you and Dave and pray that you give yourselves ‘me time’. You have done an amazing job
breathing life into your TV demos and selling and you can be sure that your faithful fans will continue to support you and the Clarity team.
Have a lovely Christmas and I wish you a successful 2025 for you and your wonderful Company.
