Percy Verance and his mate…

Hi there

I always read all your responses when you post below these blogs. Even if i don’t always respond to them. But there was one a couple of days ago which really made me smile.

 Sonia Parker says:

 Edit

My Mum had two friends Percy Verance and Will Power xx

Brilliant! I had talked about two creeps that were doing press-ups in the car park at the moment, waiting for me. They’re called Agg and Wurry. I had said that Agg is just trouble, and Wurry doesn’t even work!! They are Wurka and Hollick’s cousins. Those two have been trying to take up residence again, too!

Then Sonia took my lead, and told us about her Mum’s two friends. Percy Verance and Will Power. So brilliant I just had to shine a light on these two fellas too.

Then Dave rocked up and ploughed a wrecking ball straight through our lovely philosophical banter, with his two Scottish mates, called Ben Dover and Phil McAvitie. Leave the room, say I ! Chris P Bacon, says he…

Know any more of those? Clean ones please. or you’ll get us barred!!

Like I said last time, a laugh is a tonic.

I am excited for this weekend. It will be busy for sure! Tomorrow is the first online Paper Collage Workshop. Over 130 people have enrolled, which is amazing. It will definitely be a marathon, but the end result is just blimming beautiful!

Then on Sunday, we are setting up at the Spa Hotel for the Parchment Retreat with Linda. She and Rob arrive that day too. They’re staying with us, so I’ve been busily trying to tidy the house today! In fact, I have cleaned and locked the bathroom they use here! NOBODY EVEN CLEANS THEIR TEETH IN THERE!

Monday and Tuesday are Retreat days. That’ll be fun. Linda has prepared a real parching treat. She’s just a brilliant teacher. And I will tuck in behind her and co-teach with Paul x

Then Wednesday, at 10 am 2pm and 6pm we will be launching some fantastic new Groovi plates, which were scheduled to launch on Create & Craft. But since they still aren’t streaming LIVE, and we haven’t had any other news, we are going ahead at Clarity LIVE TV. It is actually quite a treat not having to navigate the M25 and the M11 up to the studios!

So if I miss a blog or two during the coming days, please know that I’m pritty bizzy !!!

  1. Looking forward to tomorrow afternoon and then seeing you on Sunday. xxx

When we have to spend money on repairs to the stairlift or a new wheelchair for me etc. Expensive! That’s when we need Robin Banks!

  2. Hope it’s ok to dip in and out tomorrow I know I will not be able to sit for five hours but would like to watch tomorrow then rewatch and craft at my own pace.

  3. Loving all these “people”who can bring a smile to our faces in difficult times. Enjoy the online workshop, parchment retreat and most of all time with Linda and Rob. I’m sure you’ll share it all with us . So pleased that the Clarity tv is continuing.

  4. Can’t wait for our class tomorrow. Sleep well everyone, we’ll need to pace ourselves. Might need to buy more cake in the morning!

    1. It’s very late which is my excuse for the following: good old ‘Theresa Green’and local plumbers ‘Dodgem and Bolt’.
I’m looking forward to class tomorrow, see you there.

  5. I will be back home from my sister’s tomorrow so, hopefully I’ll be able to join in. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions since Sunday so immersing myself in this new craft will be sure to distract my thoughts for a few hours.

  6. Enjoy your weekend with your special friends & the parchment retreat. My eyesight is pants at the moment as I’ve had one cataract done but the other is not due till Friday. I know I will be able to see distance but close up will be something else and I still have loads of Christmas cards to make so that should be interesting xxxxx

  7. Barb, your Blog has made me think about the different types of crafters we all are, but basically comes down to two – those of us that are a little bit disorganised with an untidy work area and those who craft in a tidier space. Epitomised by that happy crafting couple – Ivor Messi-Rhum and Anita Werker!
Really excited to be taking part in the Workshop tomorrow but so pleased for you that it’s proved so popular with the Clarity Community! Hopefully it will mean other Classrooms in the future!
I’m looking forward to learning a lot, enjoying the journey and having fun with some pieces of paper while producing a magic picture! 😊

  8. Looking forward to tomorrow and dining room table all set. Decided it was better to allow myself room to spread out. Also found two more Pritt sticks after having purchased a new one yesterday. See you all tomorrow x

  9. I’m loving the new Clarity TV, there’s more demo time and it just feels more relaxed and intimate. Plus being able to watch again and again on YouTube when goodies arrive and craft along is a real bonus.

  10. You are all doing a fab job. Good old Arthur is stopping me crafting as much as I would like – Arthur Itis. He’s a right pain.
Please don’t over do it and make yourself ill. Xxxx

  11. So far so good on visitor front tomorrow haven’t heard anyone is planning one! It’s my birthday weekend and we’re going out on Sunday for lunch so that helps. It doesn’t help this will be my 4th lunch out in a week ! See you tomorrow!
Robin Banks is good – I’ve heard of Dave’s mates before! Don’t think I know any. Hadn’t heard of Sonia’s mums though !

What about Phil Better ? 😹

  12. Loving all the names, not my forte but OH says he knows a bright young person called Dina Mo & the olive seller at the supermarket is called Deli Kate. I will probably have more ideas thrown out as time passes now I have set him off !!
On a more important note I shall see you in the classroom tomorrow afternoon – I have collected all my bits & pieces together & will put them out on the dining room table after breakfast before I go for my Covid jab – should have looked in my diary before I booked but hopefully will have no after effects.

  13. I remember a book my friend told me about when we were kids called “Bubbles in the Bath” by Ivor Windybottom. Still makes me snigger!
Over the past few years with illness I’ve lost my sense of fun and joy, so I’m making a conscious effort now to get back to being the person I was and being more silly! 🤪
I’m on the lookout for camels to climb!
I’m very jealous of those on the retreat. I’m on holiday in Cornwall but have brought my Groovi kit with me to play with. I’m catching up with the demos by Tina – so lovely to see her again. She it was who sold the joy of Groovi to me and meeting and learning from her at the Open Day last year was a treat.
    Have a great weekend everyone!

      1. 🤣🤣 that’s good! Just cleared my desk! Never knew I had so much space! ipad charged, lap top charged just in case! see you all later xx

  14. I have two friends who enjoy the SHAC with me …. Tracy Ingpaper and Mustafa Pencil. 😂
I’m so looking forward to the paper collage workshop, see you there!
    Jane x 🌸🌼🌺

  15. Will Power has definitely helped me with my diet, and Don Telay and Joss Dewit often stop me procrastinating! At the minute Hope Forthebest is my new best friend as I’m waiting for biopsy results 🤞🙏
My clarity parcel from my order on Sunday arrived yesterday – trying not to open it until Monday, so that I get some more crochet done for my charity craft sale, but I said to hubby yesterday I can make 30 cards for each crochet animal, so maybe I should do mixed crafts on my stall!!!

  16. Busy busy busy, your energy levels must be challenging! All set today for the Online Lighthouse Course need to put a Do Not Disturb notice on my front door! Turn the phone off and hope my WiFi behaves. So looking forward to my afternoon in the classroom and looking at our results. Hope all goes well with everything Barb

  17. Haha! Love those “people”! I always say, when someone has expected me to read their mind and do something they haven’t even asked about, “My name is Sandy Green, not Clair Voyant!”
Looking forward to the next Clarity Studios production!

  18. Hope everyone enjoys the class. It’s a wonderful project. I loved doing it at retreat and have carried on at home. Such a unique idea Barbara. Sue Perfun.

  19. Good morning, I have really enjoyed reading this blog and all the associated messages. They reminded me of driving to work many years ago listening to Terry Wogan. He had some great people writing or phoning in. The two I remember best are Sue Ridgepipe and Janet Thatcardigan.
    Happy crafting. X

  20. Hi Barb, this post really made me laugh. Trust Dave to come up with those 2. Hope you have a lovely time with the online class, I am sure everyone will enjoy that and the Retreat too. Take care all. Bx

  21. Really looking forward to the first of what I hope will be many online classes brought to us by you.
It’s such a treat to be on the receiving end of a workshop and I know I am going to enjoy the whole process especially in the company of our lovely Clarity guests.
Thank you so much Barbara for all you and the Clarity team do to bring us mindfulness and passion for art xx

  22. Hiya – here’s a couple of names for you to make you smile after a hard day’s work:-
Did you hear about the famous lion tamer – Claude Balls!
My husband’s best friend at school – Ivor Big’un!
Real life now – I was at school with a girl called Christine Goforth. She married a lad called Graham Grabham – Goforth & Grab’em (yes really!)
    Love
    Maggie (York UK)

  23. My husband was at school with someone called Annette Kurtins and met a guy at work who introduced himself as Hall, Albert Hall………!

I hope you have a fantastic time at the online craft class and the retreat next week xxx

Take care Barbara, remember to stop and smell the roses or cuddle a cat 🐈 xxx

  24. I shall be watching the workshop so I can then create on the watch back so I can stop and start you at my leisure. Hope you don’t mind but I find it a lot easier and won’t feel rushed.

  25. Hi Barbara I know you must be turning yourselves inside out with all that is happening,, which I for one very much appreciated. I hope you have a nice time with Linda and Rob, in spite of all your hard work. I very much enjoyed your Clarity TV more than create and craft even though I have to watch on catch up because my hubby is in care due to dementia so he takes priority. Don’t forget to look after yourselves as well. lots of love Sue xxx

  26. Only just seen this!
Thank you everyone for making me laugh!
    You are all hilarious!
Enjoy all your crafting and yes I think you are doing a fantastic job Barbara in these uncertain times.

  27. Good luck tomorrow hope it’s a success paper piecing not for me. Someone said about one of my first efforts at card making “that’s lovely did you intend to cut that paper wonky?” I am sure I will improve with a bit of help from practising with my friend Gitta Roundtuit

  28. I needed a laugh and you supplied it.
Hubby collapsed earlier trying to do too much so I’ve put him back on his oxygen, tidied everything that was knocked over including the Poppets received today and that’s why I’m late to this blog.
Hope all is well with you and yours, don’t overdo it.
Love the fact that you will be doing the new launch on Clarity TV. So much nicer and more relaxing with you and Paul together.

  29. The only name I know are neighbours Justine Thyme and Kevin Doors who hired a landscape gardener called Andrew Beachtree, they also had another neighbour called John Hill, but EVERBODY called Him Jack, and His Girlfriends name was JILL, How do I know This………….

  30. All these hilarious names we could write a book. My maiden name was Hobbs so glad my parents didn’t Christen me Dawn. ‘Dawn Hobbs.’ 😂

  31. What a delightful story about Percy and his mate! I love how you bring their adventures to life with such vivid detail. It’s heartwarming to see the bond between them. Thank you for sharing this charming tale; it truly brightened my day!
