Monday’s blog…Let‘s try again…

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. When I first started blogging, back in 2013 (where does the time go??), I used to blog every single day. This I did for many years, right up until a couple of years ago. Then TV schedules kinda took over our lives, and the blog was used for promoting TV shows. I do know when Dad got ill, Life got in the way – and I lost my way. When you feel low or sad, it’s hard to stay upbeat in a daily blog. And since I didn’t think sharing my cloud with you served a good purpose, I tended to go to the back of the cave, and only come out when it was really necessary. So the number of blog posts dwindled accordingly. You understand. I cannot tell you how often I sat in front of this computer, all set to blog – but just couldn’t think of anything to say which might be of interest. So I chose not to post at all. Slowly, the cloud is lifting (mostly), and I was thinking I might try blogging more regularly again. Maybe not long, involved blogs. But I do know that it’s a great hub for a lot of people, and there’s nothing worse than rocking up – only to find the door’s closed. So let’s try again. I will do my best to show up every day, if you do your best to show up every day too! And let’s just agree that it takes a lot more effort to write a blog than it does to read one! So you get the sweet deal !!

In fact, our Jim has added a cool function to the homepage. If you subscribe to the blog, you will automatically be sent an email, telling you there’s a new post ready for you to read as soon as I post it.

See here? Just enter your email address, and it will happen automatically. Jim’s going to add the same function to the Claritymatters blog in the morning too.

So mostly, TV promotion will move to our other Claritymattersblog.com, where Grace already hosts our much loved Saturday Share and the Guest Masterclass step by step on a Sunday.

Let’s see if it works then, shall we? Do me a favour. Just enter your email address in the box provided, and let’s see if it works! I’ll post a blog every day this week, and you’ll soon know if the notification email is working!

As for today, I want to announce the winner of the ink pad guessing blog last week…

To be frank (who’s Frank??), any ANY of the ink pads you all guessed would do the job beautifully. I actually did use Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide, which many of you guessed correctly. But. There can only be one winner. So, closing my eyes and scrolling through the correct answerers, the lucky recipient is….

JANE GRADWELL

Well done all who took part. You all have an eye for colour, to be sure! Ok. So now I’ve had another idea. Remember back in the day, I used to wrap this ‘ere blog around a little ditty?

Monday’s blog is Trees and Flowers
Tuesday's blog rolls back the hours
Wednesday's blog is something new
Thursday's blog is always blue
Friday's blog a private peek
Saturday a cool technique
And the blog that is posted on the seventh day, is a step by step - and typical Gray!

This was a really useful verse to blog around; it really gave me something to hang my hat on. Much like the ABC in the SHAC this year. Such a simple structure, but it helps a lot. So maybe I’ll use it again. Our Clarity Retreats commence tomorrow, so it’s all systems go over in Ditton until Friday! Let’s start this daily dose of blogging next Monday. I’ll have loads to tell you about by then too!

Now please let’s see if that email trigger works! oh. 77 people have enrolled for the Lighthouse Online Workshop! So chuffed! This could be the start of something very special …more will be revealed.

Love always,

Barb xxx

PS. Check your junk mail for the email. That’s where I found mine 🤪 🤪 🤪 🤪 🤪

  1. Great idea Barbara, I have completed the box for notifications so look forward to getting them.
Have a fabulous few days at the Retreats, its a bit warm here today but hopefully it will cool down a little bit as the week goes by. We are never happy with the weather are we !!
Congratulations to Jane on winning the bloggy quiz – I had the right colour but not the right ink !!

  2. I e always enjoyed your blogs whether they were regular, or not! My mum died a couple of years ago and I must say that I agree with you. Life plodded on but it just plodded for me. I am beginning to want to do crafty things again and certainly joined in with the first part of the teapot! Shall finish this at a later date!
I shall enjoy the blogs whenever they arrive!
I hope everyone enjoys the retreats, they sound fab!

  3. I love reading your blogs, Barbara, so I’m happy to know they’ll come to us a little more frequently.
Wishing you all a happy week at the retreats.
    M xx

  4. I love reading your blogs, Barbara, so I’m happy to know they’ll come to us a little more frequently.
Wishing you all a happy week at the retreats.
    M xx

  5. I love your blogs (and everything Clarity) Barbara. Have subscribed to receive notification of when a new blog is available though I religiously check everyday to see if there’s one waiting. Think I’ve read each one since day 1. I enjoy going back and reading some of the older posts as they are always so interesting. Thank you for all the time and effort you spend keeping in touch with us all. It is much appreciated.

  6. Great blog Barbara, so positive and full of promise. Have a fabulous few days at the retreats with our friends xx

  7. I really enjoy your blogs and usually look in to see what goes. I’m glad you are feeling in a better place to blog more regularly, and I’ve subscribed. Just looking in to see if you’ve blogged is a happy activity in itself, for me.

  8. Well done Jane ! I’m just impressed that I got it right too – I’m not good on inky things !

Always enjoyed your blog and always glad to comment. Life does get in the way doesn’t it but, never mind, we’re always here and we know you are there !

My lovely club stuff came today, all three are beautiful and the Groovi is right up my alley ! Know so many people who will love it too.

Enjoy the retreat everyone ! X

  9. I always look forward to reading your blog but haven’t always responded so apologise to you for that as it’s like receiving a gift and not saying thank you.
I do like the idea of revisiting a themed content to each days blog especially if it’s helpful to you.

  10. I have signed up to receive the emails.
I always enjoy reading your blogs but in the past didn’t often comment, I think probably because I didn’t think that I had anything worthwhile to say.
However, I have decided that if you can blog every day then I can come up with something and reply…..! xxxx

  11. I can relate to losing ‘your way’, I chose to stay in the background for quite a while (over 3yrs). I’ve only just started stepping forward back into the light and also getting back into crafting which is helping a great deal.
All the best for the retreat and Marks Wedding and hope you have a well deserved rest X

  12. Great to hear you’re back on the Blog journey, Barb, and to be able to share your thoughts and inspiration. I’ve signed up for the notifications, thanks to Jim for setting that up so we will know when a new Blog is posted.
I’m lucky to be going to the Retreat, looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow and enjoying your magic little projects! 😊👍🏻

  13. Wish I was coming to the retreat this year, but just back from a trip south and the dates just didn’t work. I’m sure you’ll all have so much fun.

It’s so understandable that you haven’t blogged as much recently, with your dad’s illness and death, and your own health issues too. I really appreciate the time you put into your blogs, creating interesting and thoughtful content, but time is precious, and creativity doesn’t come from a tap, so please don’t feel you have to write every day. If you’re having a day out/day off, maybe send us a virtual postcard – I’d love that!

  14. Looking forward to some ‘old style ‘ blogs. Will sign up for the notification. Good luck for the first two days of the retreat. See you on Thursday. Xx

  15. I usually check your blog every day, not received a email in junk or otherwise, but no worries I don’t mind checking out your blog every day like I usually do. I had a lovely delivery today of my monthly club goodies, love them all, thank you. xx

  16. Hi Barbara,
The link to your blog showed up in my Facebook feed this morning. I’ll share my thought process with you. Stand by whilst I connect you to my head ……..

“Ooooh, lovely! – a new blog from Barbara to read, I must post a comment on this one, Barbara is right, it is a polite thing to do…….. Click! (that’s me clicking on the link)……. Awwww, I do understand that life gets in the way sometimes …….. I’m so glad that Barbara is feeling better ……… ooooh lovely, more personal and instructive blogs to look forward to ………. don’t feel that you have to blog every day Barbara, you’re so busy, just do it when you’re able to ……… yes, it’s definitely more of an effort to write one than to read one! ……. oooooh, clever Jim! – well done …….. now where’s the box to enter my email? ….. found it – done it! …….. Ah, that makes sense to move TV info to the other blog, well done Grace! …….. yep, done the email malarkey ✅ ……. oooooh, email guessing blog – I entered that ……. that’s my name – what? I’VE WON! Woweeeeeeeee! Whoop, whoop! (mind now starts wandering whilst I think of all the things on my wish list – come on Jane focus! – back to the blog) ……… yes, that’s a handy verse to wrap a blog around ……. I wish I’d found the SHAC sooner, I’ve so much to catch up on! …….. 77 people signed up for the lighthouse workshop, that’s good, and one of them is meeeee!”

I’m sure that was all way too much information for you, sorry about that. 😂 Just think how I feel, I’m connected to my head the whole time – it’s chaos in there! 😂😂

Have a great time at the retreat, I hope everything goes well. I’ll see you in the workshop and on the open days in November. I look forward to reading your upcoming blogs, it’s good that you want to bring your authentic self back. 😊
Thank you soooooo much for the voucher!
    Jane x 🌸🌼🌺

  17. signing up right now. Hope you get a lot more reactions.
Best of luck with the retreat. Have lots of fun ladies and gentlemen.

  18. Hi Barbara. So glad you’re feeling able to blog daily again. It it such an effort to even think straight, never mind function on all cylinders, and carry on a normal, busy lifestyle, when we have lost a loved one.
Sadness is such a heavy emotion, and it is difficult to try and not drag everyone down into the pit with you.
I am an avid reader of your blogs, I love your wit and wisdom, but am also guilty of not always replying. So, I will endeavour to at least acknowledge I’m here, so as to make you feel as though what you write IS worthwhile.
Have a fab retreat. Health issues involving my fibromyalgia mean it is beyond me now to travel that far from Hereford, and still expect to function for 2 days. I have also suddenly become intolerant to wheat and dairy, so am trying to find my way around new foods to eat. Ah, Well, worse things are happening in the world.
    Have fun. Be happy.
    Love Sheila x 😘

  19. Hi Barb, I hope the first day of the retreats gets off to a great start. Looking forward to some photos. Thank you for adding the subscribe option to the blog. I love reading your blogs, and quite often go back to previous ones, because I remembered a tip or some step by step. You do a lot to interact with us, and it takes time, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. Well done Jane, enjoy your voucher. Take care in the heat everyone. Bx

  20. Understand totally where you are coming from and sometimes there are not enough hours in the day. Do look forward to reading your thoughts and seeing the DT’s stuff. Avid reader of the Saturday Artwork and Sunday tutorials; although I am guilty of often not making a comment. I too will try better, after all if you can make the effort, so should I.

  21. Morning all I look everyday for your blog but don’t always comment , I not sure where to sign up for an email for the blog 😩

  22. Oops typing error 😩I look forward to readingyour blog but don’t comment where do I click on to get an email for when there’s a new blog Mary

  23. On down days it’s always good to reflect on the good ones. Have learnt so much from you Barbara over many years. I do want to thank you sooo much for your love and encouraging words. Keep up with the blog and I will do my part too.

  24. Lovely as always to hear from you Barb. I always check every day, at least once to see if there is anything from you. It would be great if you could manage to post more often, it’s like getting a letter from a special friend. Hope the retreats go well, as I am sure they will. I shall look forward to hearing all about it in due course. Take care of yourself and Dave and the puss cats (no news of them recently, or did I miss it?) Much love x

  25. What a great blog Barbara. The only social media I do is your blog-and I love reading it and all the comments from the Clarity family. You have helped me through some sad and difficult times. And I have replied a few times -will try to do it more often. Looking forward to your “daily dose of blogging”.
Glad to hear that the first day at your retreat was a success!
Enjoy the rest of them. Susan

  26. It will be great to get a notification of a blog. I haven’t done any crafting for weeks, I’m behind with the SHAC still on ice-cream. However we’ve recently moved and lots to sort out in our new home, blinds and curtains to make, walls to paint and a very neglected garden which is getting my attention. I know I’ll be back crafting when the weather turns but for now it’s great to hear what is happening. Xx

  27. Great your doing your blog, I haven’t done mine for ages maybe since 2019 when I lost my dog, though I have another one she is 5 x

  28. Thank you Barbara for your tremendous time, incredible energy, amazing creative thoughts and more that you share on your BLOG.
Regardless of what you write about I truly enjoy. I truly admire and appreciation all your fabulous talents. I am always in awe of all you and your Team do- and I don’t see the massive work done behind the scenes.
I always check your page to see if there is a new BLOG – sadly I do not always comment as I think what do I have to share. As someone wrote above – reading your BLOG and not commenting is like receiving a gift and not saying thank you. WOW – those powerful words really stuck with me. Going forward I will definitely comment.
I regularly check your BLOG to see if there is a new post – definitely a highlight of my day. Yesterday, I signed up to be notified (thank you Jim) – today I received notification in my Inbox -super fun.
A very grateful Clarity Fan in Canada.

  29. Hi Barb, I love reading your blogs they always make me smile as I can actually hear the words coming off the page…..ya I know 😂 I giggle every time I hear it.
Hope Ditton retreats are going well, perhaps next year we might make it too
