It will be ok…

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Back in the Clarity saddle today. Early start, and heads down to get all the demos set up for my upcoming TV shows on Friday and Sunday. Paul’s also showcasing Part IV of Linda Williams wonderful layering Collection on Thursday, and there are some really exciting new ideas coming through to fruition at 9am on Friday… more will be revealed.

I know I know. I can hear you… no sooner is she back in the country than she’s nose to the grindstone again. Well, today that’s very true. And tomorrow will be the same. But this surge in activity is in a bid to get all the TV prep sorted soonest – so that I can get my hair cut on Wednesday, and then spend Thursday with Mum! So 2 long days of work, followed by 2 days off, before 3 days at the studios of Create & Craft. Makes sense to me! Anyway, I can think of worse ways to pass the time than making art for a TV show! And I really, really want to spend the day with Mum on Thursday. So I do have my priorities sorted actually.

On the Friday show there are also some superb Bijou Blockprint stamps, complete with shaped embedders, which I love. CLICK HERE

This afternoon I spent a happy hour with these stamps, practicing my two-way overlay trick with the dropshadow.

There’s a sweet spot, where you overlay the infill stamp (the blue part) just so that there is a sliver of white and a drop shadow on the light green. Offset a tad. First time was BINGO. Then the sweet spot eluded me a few times. Either too far over, or perfectly aligned. The art was still lovely, but not what I was trying for. See what I mean here? Just right. A very cool kind of screen printed effect.

If I get time, I’ll try it on Friday. I certainly worked out a few tricks and ideas as I practiced, which I shall share with you then. I do love these stamps.

Oh. And topped off with our lovely stickers…CLICK HERE

Well, it’s time for bed now, said Zebedee. The jetlag just hit me.

Love always,

  1. Looks like another great idea has come to fruition! Looks great. Enjoy your time with your mum. Hope you have a super day! X

  2. You don’t hang about do you? Back in the saddle and on the go !!!!! Wish I had your energy but sadly I am no longer able to do much more than gentle chores in the morning and lots of crafting (and watching your YouTube to catch up) but hey ho that’s what comes with age. Won’t stop me enjoying myself for as long as I can stamp and groove, colour and paint. Clarity inspires me every day.
    Stay well.

  3. What a busy day you had, but as long as you enjoy what you’re doing it’s ok!
its a good tired and satisfied feeling when you achieved what you had in mind that morning. love this technique, will give it a try myself today. Take care.

  4. Your plan for the week sounds a good one, especially a day with your mom on Thursday. I have the original stamps but I am sure the bijou ones will fly. Looking forward to the shows this week. I am just doing the tags that Glynis designed to go with Groovi Tuesday from last week.

  5. Sounds like a grand plan. Have fun with the prepping, and have a lovely day with your mum, and hopefully if all goes well, a haircut on Wednesday, which is what I am hoping to get soon. Take care. xx

  6. Looking forward to watching the shows and sounds like a great plan. Enjoy your time with your Mum, I bet she’s missed you and is dying to hear what you have been doing xxxx

  7. Hello Barb, love the look of these block stamps. Some times it is best to put your foot day to get stuff finished, so that you can move onto more relaxing and pleasurable pursuits. Have a lovely day with your Mum. Take care everyone. Bx

  8. Looks like a productive day those colours are beautiful and a couple of days off before the weekend shows is definitely a great plan

  9. I so want to buy more clarity items but here in Spain we never seen to receive stuff. customs ask for duty and then send it all back to the UK. x

  10. Welcome back Barb,
It looks like you have done it again with the overlay stamps. I have spent an hour going through boxes of Groovi plates and wondering why I haven’t used a heck of a lot of them. It’s life that keeps getting in the way, but I have pulled out the frilly ones that Tina demonstrated last week and aim to practice the frills.
Enjoy your days off, I hope your Mum is fine.
Take things slowly though!!!! Looking forward to seeing you on tv.

  11. Very lovely mix of colours – so fresh! Enjoy your hair cut and day with your mum. I’m off to get my gallstones dealt with – strange to be looking forward to surgery, but I cant wait for the jeopardy of eating/pain/no pain to be over for good (hopefully)!
