Party Time !

Party Time !

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. It’s time to get my dancing shoes on and head on up to Peterborough for the Create & Craft 20th Birthday Party! Dave isn’t able to join in because of work appointments, but Paul and I are always up for a piece of cake and a party! Lots of people who have been involved over the years have been invited, so it will be nice to see some familiar faces.

It’s ironic really. I started with Create & Craft back in 2007. Then, I think it was in 2015, we left that channel, and moved across town to help build a new TV channel called HOCHANDA – Home of Crafts Hobbies and Art. The reasons were numerous, but Hochanda promised to focus more on art, and felt like a better fit for our company and our style. Paul Wright and Val Kaye had built up the C&C empire, then sold it. Now they were building a more niche craft channel – and I went with them. I like them. Have got a lot of time for them.

Now, 8 years later, we’re still in the HOCHANDA building, but the name over the door is Create & Craft again! Whoever would have imagined that Hochanda. (aka Paul and Val) would end up buying back Create & Craft ?! It had to be done actually, to save it from folding. That’s the bottom line. It’s been a journey for sure, there have been plenty of challenges, and there’s never a dull moment in shopping telly world. But the crew, the folks that make the wheels of C&C turn, are just good, hardworking people. From buyers to marketing, from floor crew to gallery, from technicians to presenters, they all work so hard to help us suppliers showcase our products. Whether they are from the previous Hochanda camp or the previous C&C camp, they are now under one roof, they all work together – and they strive to deliver quality TV shows TOGETHER.

So this evening we really will get TOGETHER, to celebrate.

I have a perfect quote which fits the TV team :

Work hard. Party harder

They really do know how to party!

Love always

  1. Enjoy every moment! What a journey over the past 20 years and lovely that everyone will come together to celebrate x

  2. Wow the complexities!!! What goes on behind closed doors and the hard work/ passion and business acumen that needed to keep the show on the road. I’m in my 70s now and would have absolutely loved to have had craft channels in the 70s/80s. I soaked up new hobbies and crafts ( dressmaking, painting, knitting etc.etc.
So grateful for the amount of crafty goods and demos we have available now.
    Still enjoying creating.
    Enjoy the party X

  3. Have a great time at the party, I remember when C&C first started after Alan & Barry had had a weekly slot on Ideal World at I think something like 4pm every Sunday. How crafting has changed since then.

  4. The craft world has definitely changed over the last 20 years.
Enjoy your party time with Paul and the other presenters. Shame Dave couldn’t be there too.
    Safe journey to Peterborough.
    🍒

  5. Have a lovely time, Barb, celebrating 20 years of C&C (& Hochanda) with everyone, it’s been quite a journey! Hope there’s plenty of cake!

  6. Have a fab time Barbara and Paul! I’m sure it’ll be a great party with lots of trips down memory lane! Enjoy! xxx

  7. I hope you enjoy the party. I really miss Hochanda and the small companies it championed. I hardly ever watch C&C after being ripped off royally by them. It’s a pity they didn’t keep the Hochanda name and ethos -C&C is just like it was years ago, so sorry but except for a very few guests (Clarity included of course) I never watch now.

    1. I agree, l too was ripped off by them in the past, only watch the Clarity shows and order direct. Saves a lot of hassle. Hochanda was better, more demonstrations.

  8. Enjoy your time to celebrate!
I do remember when you were on C&C many years ago before Hochanda demonstrating with the moon by using stencils and I was hooked and watched you many times!!
    Have a great weekend

  9. Hello Barb, I hope you and Paul partied up a storm. Great to get back together with people you know so well. Take care everyone. Bx
