It’s all fine.

It’s all fine.

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Was just on my way up to bed, and it occurred to me that I had forgotten to write a blog. How remiss of me! Despite all my best intentions, I still haven’t managed to turn my routine around so as to blog first thing in the morning. Is it important ? Not really. The only reason I am popping in to say good evening on the way up the apples and pears, is in case somebody may worry something is wrong here if I don’t check in. Like Grace in Brooklyn. It’s all fine. I just got distracted.

Quote for the day:

Everything will be okay in the end. And if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.

John Lennon

I read recently that most of us don’t get enough sleep, so I shall stick to the plan and hit the hay now! Apparently, we should get about 8-9 hours kip a night. So if the alarm bell goes at 6am, I’m burning the midnight oil here! Although as soon as my head hits the pillow, I’m gone – little Bo Peep! How about you? Do you sleep well? I hope so .

Always baffles me where the cats like to sleep. On top of the piano wouldn’t be my first choice. Nor would kipping in a fruit bowl!

Have a good night.

Love always,

Barb x x x

  1. A very good friend of mine who was diagnosed with cancer a number of years ago said: All will be well and if all is not well, all will be well. He had an amazing faith. I sleep well. Glad you do, too. Love the position in the fruit bowl! Purrfect size for a cat! Hxx

  2. If the cats in the fruit bowl, where’s the fruit. 🤣 They are such funny things, a cosy cushion or sofa, you think would be nicer to sleep in than a bowl. I like to go to sleep, to a sleep story from my Calm app after a busy evening parching. A journey on the Trans Siberian Express never fails to get me to sleep. Although my current favourite is the shipping forecast very relaxing. 😌😴 x

  3. I always like to check in with you before the day’s done – it brings me a feeling of peace – God’s in his heaven and all’s right with the world kind of thing. I’m collecting all the daily quotes, too, into a little journal of doodling :maybe next year I’ll add my own quotes but, for now, I am enjoying the path you are leading me on. Thank you!

  4. Some nights I do some I don’t. On average I sleep about 5 hours. Is that one of your bowls Barbara? Tailor made 🤣🤣
I’ve been busy this afternoon on Tina’s tutorial. Stamping doesn’t come naturally so I have to concentrate which makes me tired so I’m hoping for a good nights sleep.
Sweet dreams – I too am off to bed now xx

  5. Cats are very strange in their sleeping habits, mine likes to sleep on my head and does so most nights.

    Pleasant Dreams

  6. Hi Barbara
Glad everything is ok. Cats are strange one of them has an evening ritual, has food runs upstairs jumps on the bed meows loudly cuddles up for a belly rub then goes to the end of the bed for the rest of the night. Off to Exeter tomorrow for craft fair looking forward to it. Have a good rest.
    Love Ruth and Jackie xx

  7. Sweet dreams Barbara. I am on my way to bed too. All I have to do is persuade my 2 cats that it is my turn to have the bed. as they have had it all day!😹 x

  8. Haven’t slept well for years and since the good old menopause kicked in, well I will let you fill in the blanks. I will maybe have 2 or 3 really bad nights and then I’m so tired I “crash and burn” is my saying. If I could find a way of calming down the dreams I have life would be better, something which is never mentioned in all the advice you read about getting good sleep is about dreams …….

  9. I do always wonder if you e not blogged so I’m glad to see your late one.

Cats – funny animals- mines 18 and I have to lock her downstairs as her sleeping pattern is very hit and miss and wakes us up crying in the middle of the night.

My sleeping pattern is even more hit and miss and sometimes I get up and craft early hours! Never sleep more than 5 hours.

Schlafe gut und träume süß liebe Barbara.

  10. I tend not to go to bed early, as if I do, I lie awake for a few hours, and get annoyed that I can’t get to sleep which makes it worse. Sometimes I read, and other times I don’t. My dog Meg (westie) sleeps by my shoulder, usually with her back to me, though occasionally, her back paws stretch out over my shoulder, and there are times when it seems she has more room in the bed than I! xx

  11. I must admit that I kept checking in to read your blog and I was getting a bit concerned, so pleased to see it this morning. I get to sleep with no problem, at about 11pm, but usually wake at 4.30ish and that is it. This has been the pattern for years and I manage ok, but i would love an extra hour or so. Thank goodness I am a reader.
It was a sad day yesterday, after hearing about the loss of Paul O’Grady, who was a lovely human being, with such a love for animals and a great campaigner for animal and human rights. A sad loss.
Take care and have a good day. X

  12. Hope you had a good night’s sleep, Barbara! My average is abt 6 – 7 hours sleep but now and again I get 8 hours. So guess, not too bad! Btw, love your quote of the day by John Lennon
Take care and have a lovely day. Alles Liebe ❤

  13. Must admit I was a bit concerned that all was not as it should be so am pleased to see this this morning. I’m am, and always have been a night owl. Come midnight bring on the party. I hated it when I was working as I had to set the alarm for 6.30am (which was as late as I could leave it) and always considered this unholy hour to be in the middle of the night. The most annoying thing now I’m retired is that I still wake up at that time but at least I can roll over and go back to sleep – bliss. x

  14. Hello Barb, hope you had a restful sleep. Love the quote, very true. Cats are just a law unto themselves really. One of ours sleeps in the plant baskets or pots in summer, but when it’s cold, a box with an old towel by the radiator is normally where you find her, the other seems to like sleeping behind some of my boxes in my craft room/home office. Beautiful photo though, which is it Ragnar or Erik? Take care everyone. Bx

  15. I’m having to get off the bus at the next stop and pack my pencils and paper away for a while as I’ve just been informed after 26 years I have breast cancer again, I just wanted to say, thank you for giving me the strength to stay positive like you have been Barbara and will hopefully be back on the bus very soon. X

    1. Please try to stay positive. My oncologist told me a positive attitude is 50 per cent of the cure. Wishing you all the very best at this tough time. 🍒

    2. Sorry to read this but don’t pack your pencils away – leave them where you can reach them as you may find a little doodling with everyone in the SHAC will be a welcome distraction from everything else going on. If you can’t join in live the sessions will be there 24/7 for you to catch up with. As others have said staying positive is the best cure, sending hugs xx

  16. Good to know all is well with you, I was getting worried.
My sleep is erratic and this started after we moved here. It was made worse when I was prescribed water tablets as I have to get up at least once in the night. I usually read for an hour before trying to sleep, sometimes nodding off immediately and sometimes laying awake for ages. Average length of sleep is 2 to 4 hours at a stretch, occasionally I get 5 hours but then can’t get back to sleep again. I’m told it’s an age thing but I’m not so sure.
Picked up our new car yesterday so today is going to be spent getting to know all the bells and whistles. Why don’t they make simple cars like they now make basic mobile phones which are much easier for us all. With all the electric stuff and gadgets there is too much to go wrong. Maybe this is an age thing too.
Hope you had a good nights rest.

  17. I read this last night just as I was off to bed. The rain woke me in the night but I got back off again. I listen to an audio book, on a timer on my ipad, and that always sends me off ! I’m always having to go back a few chapters next day ! Yes, cats find their space don’t they, one of ours is currently using my neatly folded pile of new clothes as her spot – that reminds me I must put them away. Luckily on the top is a denim skirt so no damage just the odd hair ! Mikey is currently spread out on window sill watching his public with one eye open. Have a good day xx

  18. Did wonder if everything was okay. Despite trying various methods sleep on a regular basis is a hard one. Try to stick to getting up at the same time (but not silly o’clock). The John Lennon saying is my hubbies ‘go to’ when I’ve got myself in a tizz.

  19. I like to ready your blog in the morning but I too get worried if we don’t hear from you. Well except after a busy weekend on TV as I know you will be tired. I have always been an early riser so am in bed by 10pm. Tried to change it but it doesn’t work – still get up early. Husband is the complete opposite.
    Glad you are all right.

  20. Good morning, hope you had a good nights sleep. I did check in a few times during the evening but then got distracted with my puzzles on my ipad. I have to get to a sleepy stage before heading to bed else I lie there for ages wondering why I can’t sleep which makes it worse. The joy of being retired is that there is an option to have a lie in if for any reason you happen to have a really good night & sleep longer than normal.
Love the way cats just seem to curl up & sleep at a moments notice & no reason for choosing their spot.
Already Thursday – where is this week going to?

  21. Reading your blog finishes my day too Barbara. If I can’t find it I just wonder if all is well. I envy you being able to drop off to sleep, if I get three hours I’m lucky. And no reason for it, certainly not a guilty conscience!
Or sleeping in the day! Oh well, it could be worse.
    Keep safe x

  22. The ability to go to sleep and have undisturbed sleep seems to lessen as you get older! But I may have cracked the solution – two days of granddaughter sitting! When the granddaughter is a four year old flame-haired, Duracell bunny ball of unending energy (even when she’s meant to be ill!) it’s no wonder I was out like a light last night and am amazed I woke before midday! 🤣 I’ll need a week of rest and calm to let the aching joints recover! 🤣 A bit of an extreme solution, but I’d have it no other way, all’s well that ends well!

  23. One of my cats would drop down off the garage roof and squeeze himself under the roof of the bird table fixed to the window frame, and go to sleep there. I wish I could get more than three hours sleep in one go, but it is just not happening these days. Enjoy being able to do it while you can. xxx Maggie Craner (Silvercrafter)

  24. Sleeping about ten hours or just can’t sleep, maybe just a few hours, it changes day to day…..years ago our Russian blue, who we had for seven years was amazed by the baby,s pram and took the cat net off every day……and then slept underneath on the message tray.
