Maybe it’s a Sign…

Maybe it’s a Sign…

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. The Internet is so painfully slow here. Maybe it’s a sign. Maybe it’s the Universe telling me TO SLOW DOWN. All the time I’m zipping around, am I actually present? Am I actually where I am? Maybe I just have to go with the flow, accept that it is what it is – and take it from there. Rather than go into a frenzy, because I’ve only got half an hour to complete this blog before an important meeting, and the Internet is dragging, maybe I just embrace the sign, the signal to SLOW DOWN – and enjoy my life, instead of beating it into an early departure. At 62, it really is time to start reading the signs more carefully.

And guess what? By simply accepting that the morning may not be going as I’d like, but that it is certainly exactly as it is supposed to be, my anxiety levels are dipping again, the chest pains are going away and the washing machine head is slowing down.

How many signs do I need ?? A weak internet and Chest pains are ample indication that something has to give, right? The spin cycle head? Well, a walk up on the forest will clear that completely.

So I’ve decided to start my day again. I shall enjoy the meeting, and then I shall turn the two lovely large porcelain breakfast bowls I threw on Monday. Taller one is Dave’s xx

And then, I’ll pack a little picnic, make a flask of tea, and get up on the forest with Dave, to catch a sunset. We did it on Monday. Perfect. The best things in life are free.

So on that happy note, have a good day. I find I have to decide to do things – and then follow through. JFDI as Dave says.

There you go. With 10 minutes to spare. Time for a cup of Chamomile too.

Love and Hugs

  1. Enjoy your time together, any problems will get sorted tomorrow, step back, Delegate, and most of all Enjoy things can change sooooooo fast xx

  2. Since the very first lockdown, I have had to learn patience with my internet. It is just dire and trying to do my banking is a real endurance test. I tend to do things like that in the early hours. I am lucky to live in beautiful Worcestershire and can enjoy going into the Vale of Evesham to visit the wonderful farm shops. The views are lovely and just to be able to stop and absorb them and the birdsong is so healing. Take care of yourselves, Barb, and allow your mind and body to heal from all the worry about your lovely parents. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter)

  3. Doing something you enjoy and with someone you enjoy being with sounds like the perfect recipe for happiness to me.
    Enjoy. xxx

  4. When I think back to how the internet was when we first started using it en masse, we have certainly become an impatient lot. It used to take a minute or more…sometimes 3-5 minutes to get a response… so….deep breaths, smile and concentrate more on the little things…bird song, the smells in the air, the sunrise, sunset or the sound of waves at the seaside. Enjoy your day xx

  5. A picnic in the forest sounds like a great plan !! Its been a lovely day here so hopefully there will be a nice sunset to enjoy at the end of the day.
I do think we have to listen to our bodies but not to over think it so that you start fretting about every niggle & ache being something far worse. We just have to realise that we are not the young 30 to 40 year old dashing from one appointment to another & keeping house & everyone in it in line as well. Now is the time to think of your self & do what you enjoy doing & delegate what you can.
See you in the SHAC Shack tomorrow with my Poppets.

  6. Being in the moment is definitely something that I have been practicing more recently. Also, the self-compassion break. I find I can be kind to almost everybody else except myself, so I am trying hard to rectify that! Technology is wonderful when it works, but we survived for years before it was invented and life was just fine x

  7. Bowls look good. Picnic in the woods sounds great Hope your meeting was a success.
Lovely and sunny here today but a bit windy so my hairdressers hard work this afternoon was mostly undone because we decided to go for a short walk in the town. First time in nearly 2 years.
At my age age I am thankful I can still do most things I need to albeit more slowly, so no complaints here. The main thing lacking is sleep which evades me when I want it and hits me at inappropriate times. Still have lots of things in the planning stage but in no rush, plenty of time (I hope) left to enjoy life.
Travel gently Barbara, life is for living not worrying about things we have no control over
    Stay safe.

  8. Love the look of those bowls Barbara. A picnic in the forest and a beautiful sunset sounds lovely to me. Go and enjoy tomorrow is another day .💕

  9. And what a beautiful sunset it was on Monday, with the full Harvest Moon to follow. Hope you and Dave had a lovely day. Hugs. Annette X

  10. Many of us are taking stock of our lives, particularly as we start on up the 60s. Do what you want to do in life while you can and still have the desire to. Take care but have fun doing it! xx

  11. I’ve slowed down so much lately and blame it all on lockdown. I loved having to stay at home and craft along with you all. I’m now finding it hard to go back out in the big wide world with all the demands life is making. A tiny pup has now entered my life preventing me from crafting to the same degree but she’s bought a different sort of joy and as she gets bigger (and better behaved) my crafting hours will get longer. I just have to be patient and take each day as it comes and be thankful I have this group to tune into.

  12. Hi Barbara
I have a tin in my craft room that reads the best things in life have fleas. Hope the boys are 👍
I’m 61 this week and decided 18 months ago to give up work. It meant moving house and slowing down, did the moving house ok as for slowing down I’m working on it.🤣🤣.
Listen to your body and take time out to spend time with those you love.
    Love

  14. Hello Barb, I certainly think you have that spot on. As we get older we have to slow down, have a less frenetic life. Love how Dave gets the bigger bowl. Hope you enjoyed the walk and the picnic. Take care and stay safe everyone. Bx
