With Love & Best Wishes

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Spinning plates here. So many things in the pipeline, so many ideas moving through and taking shape – so many things to consider, remember, factor in.

There is a vast difference between design and manufacture, and as wide a gulf again between manufacture and marketing. How our little Clarity Crew manages to pull this off week on week, month on month, year on year, is quite astounding. It ain’t easy, I know that for sure. And this past year has certainly been a challenge! But we’re still here – and going strong!

Our new Half price Weekly Offers, underpinned by tutorials and blogs, are also proving popular. This week, the Floral frames and Sentiment Dies are centrestage:

Here’s a cool variation, using one of the floral corners reversed. I like this effect. I like the open corner.

Right. Here goes!

  • Take a 5″x 5″ white card blank and draw a line 2.5″ from the top (ie the middle) from the folded edge to the outside edge. This will allow you to line up your die more easily so that it is in the middle
  • Run it through your die cutting machine
  • Now take a piece of designer paper, measuring 5″x 5″ and position the 6th from the middle Nested Square Die as shown
  • Run through your die cutting machine and then attach using our Roll-a-Tape glue runners, slightly offsetting, to allow part of the card blank to show
  • The designer paper will overlap the fold as shown – stick down using the Roll-a-Tape glue runner – it adds that elegant finishing touch to the back of your card
  • Die cut a selection of sentiments or choose a stamp of your choice to finish off

Here are a couple more examples, using the same principle:

  • The above card uses the smaller flourish of the frames, rather than the larger flourish.
  • Take a piece of card measuring 3.5″ x 3.5″ – draw a pencil line corner to corner to make it easier to line up the die. Run through your die cutting machine 4 times to create the centrepiece

The same idea, but using the larger flourish

Another variation:

  • Take a piece of card measuring 6″ x 6″ – position the die as shown and die cut 4 times. Simples!

Thing about these dies is the interchangeability and snipability. So many possibilities. Worth taking a closer look? The Offer of the Week is available HERE

  3. another great set of step by step projects for the dies. Will definitely have to get them out & play to see what designs I can achieve – a bit like embossing all the design on the groovi plates to see what is actually on there.
My plan for today is to have a go at the Groovi Sunday project but having walked just over 10,000 steps in a couple of hours along the side of Derwent water I feel a little kip coming on !! before catching Paul’s last show at 4pm

  4. I would never have thought of using the dies in this way. Thank you Barbara. I need to start thinking outside the box!!

  10. Hi Barbara, thanks so much for these ideas. Although I already have the dies and love using them, your designs and tips will give them new life! As with all Clarity goodies, whether stamps, stencils, dies or Groovi there seems to be no limit to the inspiration they give and different ways they can be used. I’ve been Groovi-ing along with Paul today, as always great shows and Linda Williams – WOW! Guess what popped into my basket!
Barbara and Team Clarity all your effort and hard work are greatly appreciated, thank you so much for all the inspiration and joy you give!

  12. This reminds me of how you showed us to sue the corner stamps in the early days. I still have samples I did 20+ years ago, using the corner stamps. Now it is possible to do the same thing with dies -how good is that!!??

  13. It will be nice to see new ideas for earlier die issues. Thank you.
Have put Saturday’s shows on to record as we will not be able to watch live and don’t want to miss anything.
Take care of yourself. Stay safe.

  14. I love all of those design ideas! I shall now go and look to see which of the dies I already have. Thanks again Barb xx
