Trees & Flowers…

Trees & Flowers…

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Been prepping next weekend’s TV shows on HOCHANDA this afternoon. Want to get ahead of the curve this week, because you just never know what’s around the corner, do you…

I do know that my fabulous front loading kiln is being delivered tomorrow though, so that’ll be a few hours learning how it works ! I can’t wait to give you a little virtual tour of the Pottery Studio when it’s all set. We’re nearly there. Dave assembled the wheel at the weekend…so that’s Christmas sorted – provided I learn how to mix glazes, use the kiln and fire the work! I love a challenge. Actually, it’s tiles I want to master first. proper, beautiful little art tiles. You know the folk art house doodles we are doing at the moment? Well, I see them as tiles, ceramic tiles. Wouldn’t that be peach?! You know, a little arty, a little grungy, a little raw. That’s going to be the first project…

Anyway, the Saturday shows are showcasing some of my favourite trees: Mel’s Treescape. We’ve played with the artwork and have come up with a smaller, 3-way overlay set. It is, if I may say so, absolutely brilliant ! So like proper layered printing! I’ve been playing all afternoon, putting them through their paces, working out different tricks n tips. So yes. Bring it on at 11am on Saturday! 4 seasons with one stampset…

If you’re not sure what I mean by 3-way overlay stampset, here’s a breakdown:

STAMP 1 – The outline

STAMP 3 – The background

STAMP 2 – The infill of the lineart, the tree trunks and branches

All 3 stamps work beautifully alone, but you can layer them up on top of one another, in different combinations. Tune in to HOCHANDA.com at 11am on Saturday, and I will explain it properly.

Time to call it a day. Stay safe.

Love always,

Barb xx

  1. Hi Barbara this artwork is gorgeous. I love those panels and the trees are stunning. Enjoy setting up your pottery room. That is a good way to cope with lockdown. It sounds like the is a vaccine in the future to look forward to. We have a long way to go though. Have a good evening. Take care. Hugs xxx

We have had a good day today, done all we needed to do, had an afternoon kip, and I plan to have an evening with the floral alphabet plates. Very relaxing.
    Hugs, 🍒

    1. Hello Anne,
Just play to begin with and, remember, it is only a piece of parchment and there are no parchment police. Enjoy and, hopefully, we can meet at Colemans soon.
      Love

  8. I have the original stamp, die & stencil & love them so I think these new stamps will fly on Saturday. Also looking forward to seeing more ideas on how to use Linda’s Snowman & animals & Jayne’s scenery stamps. Another busy Clarity weekend with Gray Friday to follow, hope you have primed Steve & told him there may be an extension to his tunnel !!
Exciting news about your kiln & studio – look forward to seeing your tiles & the tour around the studio. You could make a tile for each of the kittens with their paw prints as a memento of how tiny they were when they came to live with you.

  9. I just love the look of those stamps. Really looking forward to the tv shows.

Looking forward to the shows as I love the original trees cape stamp and stencil and the project that you’ve highlighted here is gorgeous. Been playing again with Tina’s stamps from ODS last week and the more I use them, the more I’m loving them.Completed 12 cards today which I was chuffed to bits with. Love and hugs,Alison xxx

  11. That’s great news for you, bet you can’t wait for tomorrow. Loved the stamps and stencil of the trees, I have a fair few of the overlay stamps but I have trouble lining up with varifocal glasses but I will think about getting them as they are so lovely and as you say you dont have to use all three. My parcel from pergamano arrived this morning, 2 in 1, thank you.xxx

  12. Hi Barb, beautiful overlay stamps, love the card shown. I bet you cannot wait to indulge your passion for pottery (say that quickly after a sherbet or two 🙂 close to home, and whilst it will not make up for missing classes during lockdown, it will make you happy. Can’t wait to see see what you conjure up. Take care and stay safe everyone. Bx

  13. Looking forward to Saturday’s show.
Really excited (and a bit envious) for you as the completion of your pottery studio is so close.
I hadn’t realised until yesterday how long ago it was since I did a pottery evening class with my sister and best friend. My daughter, who is 45, asked for a photo of her as a a toddler for work. What did I come across but a photo of my large coil pot, centre stage as a new edition to our small family. I was very proud of my achievement and, unlike the children who have successfully flown the nest, the pot is still with us. I can still remember vividly making the pot and how happy and relaxed it made me feel working with the clay and just being part of a group of like-minded people – just like the SHAC shack.

  14. Oh WOW Barbara how stunning these look! I wish I had your imagination. Stay safe and enjoy the kiln and the kittens 🙂
