When Tina doodles….

When Tina doodles….

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Been revving up for Mixed Media Friday this afternoon. Every last Friday of the month, we showcase arty, mixed media stamps and stencils on HOCHANDA. And at 9am and 1pm this coming Friday, wait till you see the new Mandala stamps that Tina Cox has designed for us. She calls them doodles – I call them masterpieces! Absolutely superb, they are. I cannot believe the detail of the patterns.

These large images make for brilliant what I want to call PARTIAL ART. When you just use part of the image, part of the stamp.

Here’s a very simple little step by step, where I have chopped up one of them. No no, not the stamp! Also, I must tell you that it is HOCHANDA’s Birthday weekend ! So we – CLARITY – are giving away a cool gift with every purchase during those 2 hours. A double pack of my favourite papers..

Right. Here goes…

Stamp one of the beautiful Mandalas onto a piece of the Designer paper using black Archival

Here we have Strength.

While the black ink is still wet (it dries quickly though), sprinkle a little mica powder over it. I went with Perfect Pearl (white)

Distribute with a little paintbrush, then buff with a tissue. The black Archival buffs up metallic and silver!

Trim back the paper around the design to 6”x6”. Then cut that piece into 4 equal quarters. ie. 3”x3” Voila. FOUR fabulously arty little toppers for notelets or greeting card sets. What a super little gift.

Needs an edge. Mmm, I thought. Perhaps the Mica powder will stick to the black Sharpie pen too…

It does. So you get a fab matching border as well. Mount on a 4”x4” white piece of card (that’s just our 8×8 stencil card cut into quarters). Then mount on a 5×5 black card blank. Add one of our new Feel Good Factor stickers, to give the little art meaning

Done. Tina’s Mandala shimmers in the light, but none of the fine detail is lost.

Wonderful stamps by Tina. Wonderful woman.

Love and Hugs

And Barbara your step-by steps and demos on Friday are going to showcase them beautifully – as will the awesome Design Team!
