Lids back on…

Lids back on…

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Been a creative, constructive, uplifting day here. Spent the morning in my little Wendy house, prepping for tomorrow’s SHAC Shack Doodle session at 10am. Really looking forward to this coming week now I know where the bus is headed! Not going too far afield this time. I think a Staycation is in order, don’t you?

Then I went for a long walk with Mel and her dogs. It rained a little, but that was actually very enjoyable, because it was pleasantly warm and there was no wind. The woods near us are wonderfully quiet. There are several tracks and directions you can take, depending on your time and energy, and Mel and I agreed that a round circuit is much better than a track and back!

Then I took myself off to the SHAC-Shack above the garage, and completed an inky project I started yesterday. Alcohol ink on Yupo Paper. It’s very addictive, but so enjoyable! Mission accomplished. More will be revealed….

I do love messy art, don’t you? And this got pretty messy as the day went on! Time to put all the lids back on and call it a day.

Here’s a piece I had fun with. Built up the sky and mountains, added the lake, created the bank on this side and even squeezed a mountain road in. Then obliterated it to create a background rather than a scene. Love the second one, which is just as well – you can’t reverse the process!

If you’re interested in alcohol inks, we have a great selection on our website. CHECK HERE

We also sell the Yupo Paper. Thin and thick. You pick. CLICK HERE

So I have been working all weekend. But it’s all good. Now there’s something new in the Clarity pipeline too, which you will enjoy too. Let’s see how long it takes, from now to completion.

Love and Hugs,

Barb xxx

  1. So pleased your weekend has gone well Barbara. Circular walks are better than there and back on the same track.
You have been playing with inks and yupo paper again, something to look out for.
See you tomorrow morning at 10, interested to know where we are going. Staying nearer home is fine by me. Have a relaxing evening.

  2. Looks like a new set of designer paper to me? Great to have fun messing around isn’t it, I spent a lovely afternoon finishing my owls, did me the power of good. Will have to see you on catch up tomorrow as have to take my lovely mum to the bank then home to wash and blow dry her hair! She hasn’t been far during lockdown so this is possibly her first foray to anywhere like a bank since March! Enjoy your evening xx

  3. I recently purchased some alcohol inks from you after seeing a video of you doing some marbling in water. When they arrived I couldn’t find video! Was I dreaming? Hope this was something you were planning. All ready for whatever tomorrow brings. Thanks

  4. It sounds like it was a lovely day with a good friend as well as alcoholics which I love to do myself. I can’t wait to see what you have in the pipeline for that medium. In fact I just posted a very simple Groovi work I did mounted on one of my alcohol inks. See you tomorrow.

  5. Staycation is fine with me, I wouldn’t consider going abroad for the rest of this year at all while the pandemic is still with us. Look forward to meeting up tomorrow.

  6. All those lovely colours, I had to stop to do a retirement card and used a Shenandoah parchment in the green. I love your first one as well, what a lovely composition, you should do another one like that as well as the backing. More papers on the way ? Looking forward to tomorrow but haven’t finished owl yet ! X

  7. Oooo sounds very intriguing!
I’ve had the alcohol inks out today too… They really are fun to play with!
Have a relaxing evening and I hope I can manage to join you in the SHAC shack tomorrow even if its on catch up!
    Love and hugs Xxxx

  8. Sounds interesting, love the yupo and alcohol inks combination. I’ve been trying out distress oxide colour combinations so many possibilities.
    Take care Julie x

  9. Ooh, I couldn’t cope with all those bottles of ink on my desk as I get flummoxed by too much stuff and would get in a right pickle! Now you know why I don’t do mixed media 😂 I do love to look at other people’s work though and yours looks intriguing. I especially like the first one, as you can imagine, with my head!
I have spent the day listening to the cricket test match (boring for some, I know), whilst finishing a Groovi project. See you in the SHAC tomorrow. Have a lovely evening. Hugs Annette X

  10. Cant wait for tomorrow, i missed doing owls last week as i had a few thing on, i will catch up as and when possible.
Pencils sharpened and eraser at the ready for 10am. See you all then x

  11. Your inky artwork looks like the back and front of a new designer paper – the start of a new set? Looks great.
Finished the shopping this morning, did the washing, sorted the emails, by which time it had got too hot to do much more.
Settled down with the members sale and my list and had another browse. Looks like another order will be forthcoming soon.
Re-watched Linda’s owl demos earlier too, she is such a clever lady and her voice is so soothing.
Still catching up on the colouring, I really need some peace and quiet for this but that is in short supply as the boy racer has been zooming round again.
Staycation is a must for us – no choice!!!
    Stay safe everyone 🍒🍒🍒

  12. I have just had my dispatch notification for my last order, so I better not buy anything else for a while! It’s a good job I already have alcohol inks!!
After missing out on last weeks’s SHAC Shack, due to circumstances beyond my control, I absolutely intend to join you tomorrow. I feel the need for a little journey, even if it is a staycation!
See you all in the morning xx

  13. Am very intrigued at the prospect of more delicious papers to choose from! Looks like you’ve had a very productive day. Hope you all have a good week in the SHAC-shack. It’s my last week at work, after going back at the start of the pandemic, so hoping I’ll be able to join you all there soon. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!

  14. Beautiful Barb. Addictive it is! but all I manage is splashing loads of dots of colour and bleach it out with the blender . I’ve never managed to get anything that looks like a scene. It’s defo fun to watch the ink spread very mesmerising.

  15. Oh, your day sounds much better fun than mine! I felt as if I was rearranging the chairs on the Titanic for a bit but then started trying to clear a bit of my wee room. I ended up getting rid of quite a lot so it was in the end productive but the whole house is turned upside down now! Who knew how many canvas carrier bags you could accumulate over the years!!!! I could start a shop!! That room is a work in progress but at least it’s started! I might make it into the lifeboat after all!! Lol. Glad you had a good day. See you in the morning I can fine my way through the carrier bags! Lol. Hx

  16. Looks like fun! I’ve been making Christmas cards today as we’ll be moving soon and I won’t be able to unpack all my stash until our new house is ready in the new year. I’ll have to choose carefully what can go into my mini craft kit x

  17. Looks like a great day Barbara, going for a lovely walk with Mel and then messing about with the alcohol inks, and so many too! I think maybe more designer papers on the way? x

  18. Sounds like you’ve had a great and productive weekend 🙂
Looking forward to the shac for a couple of days before we go off for our daughter’s wedding – yay!
Am intrigued by the alcohol inks – new designer papers coming up?

  19. Hi Barb, well that looks like a whole lot of fun. I do enjoy playing with alcohol inks, they can give some brilliant backgrounds. If this is the start of a new paper range, then bring it on. Glad you enjoyed a walk with Mel, time spent with a good friend is never wasted. Take care everyone. Bx

  20. A girl after my own heart. I love messy play. I’m sure it’s because I only had soil to play with when I was a nipper. I remember pretending to be “The Galloping Gourmet”🤗

Talking of which it’s good to see you had opened the window with all those lids off the alcohol inks.🙈

Hope your fun extends into this week too….
