Dandelions on the menu tomorrow…

Dandelions on the menu tomorrow…

Hi there!

Thanks for popping in. The diet is changing direction here….

Did you know that you can eat dandelions? Yummy! Very good for you apparently…

In traditional Chinese and Native American medicine, dandelion root is used to treat stomach and liver conditions. Herbalists believe that it can aid in the treatment of many ailments: acne, eczema, high cholesterol, heartburn, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, and even cancer. Certainly cheaper than over the counter drugs, eh?!

Tomorrow at 1pm and 5pm, dandelions are on the HOCHANDA menu too! A la Clarity. Mel was the chef; she created these delicious, delightful beauties. We are serving them up as stamps, stencils, groovi AND dies. Just perfect. And not fattening at all!

I overdid the water spritzing on the stencil when I was prepping a Gelpress print (tune in at 5pm hochanda.com for the full demo). But thought better of throwing it away. Just because it didn’t turn out as I had envisaged, doesn’t mean it’s a reject!

In fact, the longer I sat with it, the more I grew to love it! I find that happens quite a lot nowadays. You just have to open your mind to the notion that it is what it is. This is how it came out. This is as it is supposed to be this time.

What a fab insert this would make for the Die cut with the same dandelion design! How about black? Just simple papercut black…

Very tasty. Just a hint of the same flavour running through the backdrop. Nice.

Tune in at 1pm first though – especially if you’re a parcher! There’s a superb Groovi nested alphabet plate being showcased. Brand spanking new and fresh out the oven. So many possibilities!

Love and hugs,

Barb xxxx

  1. I like your background. It is quite subtle. Definitely not a reject. I could go into business with dandelions – and moss! Have both in abundance!! Lol. Just finished working so have a little time for me now. Take care. See you tomorrow. Hx

  2. Like the look of the new Groovi plate but not sure about the dandelions. So many things on my list now.
    Stay safe. 🍒🍒🍒

  3. Dandelion flowers are ok but not leaves as I believe you may spend more time in the loo. They act as a diuretic.

  4. I have heard you can have dandelion coffee – err, yum. Sorry I can’t get hochanda on Virgin or Freeview, but I’ll look later. Must say, the designs look awfully nice.
    Hope you are well.
    Love
    Maggie (Bendy Yorkite)

  5. Here in Canada we have dandelion greens…picked before they bloom and cooked as a green or of course there is always the popular dandelion wine..choices..choices..choices..

  6. Well, I do like Dandelion & Burdock pop (has to be Ben Shaws) – it always reminds me of Christmas, because that’s the only time we used to have it.
    🙂

  7. Dandelion wine, dandelion coffee, dandelion and burdock, dandelions in the garden.. tried them, no thank you. Dandelions are supposed to have 2000 offspring if left. Dandelion art is inspiring. Dandelion die cuts are beautiful. Just not the real thing unless in fields.

  8. One of my favourite dies! I’ll give eating dandelions a miss but I love the artwork especially the watery one.

  9. Love this design by Mel. I didn’t know you could eat dandelions, just off for a munch on the lawn! XX

  10. I think you did a craft along with that stencil on the gel plate, I crafted along I believe we had 3 different cards from it, loved 2 but the 3rd was a bit pale, now you’ve got me thinking I could get the die as that looks great what you have made. I wonder if I kept that piece, I expect so, I usually do.xxx

  11. Love the dandelion designs, another favourite of mine. My nan always told if you eat them they make you wee….a LOT!
    stay safe, Jackie

  12. Hello Barb, lovely die and background, looking forward to more inspiration from the shows. Need to try get some Birthday cards made between now and the weekend. Take care and stay safe everyone. Bx

  13. Hello, I don’t normally comment or post BUT I love reading your daily blogs Barbara and everyone’s replies. During these surreal times they have been a real lifeline to the world outside of my home. So Thank You to everyone. However, I have noticed that Brenda has not been posting lately? I know she struggles at times but just want to make sure she is ok, miss her wise words. Take care, keep safe everyone.

    1. Aww, thanks so much Denise. I’m ok. I’ve been really struggling with my CFS, but, fingers crossed, I think I’ve managed to turn the corner a wee bit with it in the past few days. I’m also in a lot of CFS pain that is very limiting the amount I can type etc. as that just makes it worse. Hopefully I’ll be back to my normal soon. Really feeling the cabin fever with there being so little I can do to occupy myself… It feels nice to know I have been missed, thank you. And, it’s good to see you commenting on here, I hope you become a regular.
      Xx

Lovely artwork Barb, love the ‘gone wrong’ piece, I would think it was a happy dance success if I had made it. A bit of your magic with your polychromos would turn it into a masterpiece xx

      1. Hi Brenda, Good to hear from you, hopefully you are turning a corner and will soon be feeling like your old self! Take care.
