Great Job in Japan!

Great Job in Japan!

Hi there!

Thanks for checking in today. We’ve had stormy weather here! Lightning, thunder, hail – black skies! And now it’s sunny and warm, and the grass is steamy with all the evaporating rain! Yup. If you don’t like the English weather, just wait a minute!

Over in the SHAC shack, we’ve been doodling away merrily! Spent the whole week in Japan, learning about fabulous Japanese textiles and even drew a cherry blossom. Here’s where we ended up today….

I just popped over to Facebook Clarity Worldwide, to admire all the lovely artwork created by my fellow doodlers. It’s amazing.

How many times I read “never thought I’d ever be able to draw like this,” “Can’t believe I’ve drawn this,” “so pleased with myself,” “really happy I stuck at it, but YOU did the creative work”. Now isn’t that something? And all in 5 weeks.

From a couple of birds on the wire, to a Japanese sunset, complete with Cherry Blossom and Geisha. Epic. Blimming brilliant.

But it only works when YOU work it. So work it! You’re worth it !

Love and hugs
Barb xxx

  1. Thank you so much for the shac. Bit behind as yesterday Beas spent in hospital in hospital emergency. Husband looks as if I have beaten him- two detached retinas fixed. The shac was a godsend while I waited. Will be watching on Sunday. Bet it will be super duper. Good wishes to everyone

  2. Love the geisha and the weekly Shac….sometimes live or later the youtube.
Didn’t do much doodling, but just watching is already so relaxing!
Had to make a lot of birthday cards the last weeks so less doodling.
Thank you Barbara for your time with us!!!
Have a great and restfull weekend.
    Greetings, Trijntje Huppel

  3. I look forward to our mornings only mine lasts well into the afternoon I would never have been able to without Babrbs step-by-step step thank you for all your hard work you are a godsend in our time of need xx

  4. I notice one of my work colleagues looked in on the FB live today after I shared it at the start. I am sure she enjoyed it. I am missing my colleagues and the pupils. Thanks for the company again.

  5. Thank you so much Barbara. When we started Shac Shack I thought I won’t be able to do this! How wrong I was and I love it. I am my husband’s full time carer and at 10am he has carers looking after him. Brilliant down time for me.
Thank you for giving me a purpose in life. Xxx

  6. Thank you so much Barbara, for the SHAC over the last weeks. I was one of the people who panicked at the birds and today I finished my Geisha! I sent photos of all my doodles to my daughter and she is well impressed. Now I just need to think up my own designs, rather than copy yours, which is a whole new challenge for me.
We should be out for dinner tonight, as it is our 49th wedding anniversary, but it is home cooked (by me, obviously! 😂) fish and chips. I am having a nice G&T though. Have a relaxing weekend, now that the shows are recorded. See you there. Hugs. Annette X

  7. What beautiful artwork.
Yippee!! Post girl has just delivered the Tall Letterbox stamp set, couldn’t believe she is delivering at this late time. Now looking forward to receiving Dee’s Innocent Stamp Collection, feel like it’s my birthday every time I get a parcel from Clarity.
Wishing you all a happy weekend.
    xx

  8. Thank you Barb for this wonderful week of being in Japan..I enjoyed this journey so much… it has been a really good thing..here in N.S. We’ve been having our share of bad times along with this pandemic..so I look forward each weekday morning spending time in the SHAC.

  9. We haven’t had your weather here, just a few downpours of rain, a little sunshine but mostly dull. Thank you for our SHAC Shack this morning, it was so enjoyable and I managed to finish mine this afternoon. Wish I hadn’t tried to colour the sky and sea, but very happy with it over all, I think it’s the best one I have done so far. Mind you I loved the Hot Air Balloon and the Kite, well all of them really so lovely to be learning something that is so relaxing. Looking forward to watching you on Hochanda on Sunday hope you do well with the sales. Have a good weekend and maybe you and Dave will manage to have a lovely walk and time to relax. Love Pam xxx

  10. Thank you, Barb, for giving so much of your time to teach us, not just how to doodle, but how to draw. It really is appreciated by all of us. You mentioned today that you fake it till you make it. You smile in the morning and laugh with us even when, I’m sure, you often don’t feel like it, even though, as you say, it’s as good for you as it is for us. You are positive in your blog and that must take real effort on your part some days, too. Just remember when the black dog – or even a wee grey one – appears and threatens to drag you down, remember that you are worth it and if ever you don’t believe it yourself, know that we believe it and believe in you. I walked a very difficult road this morning at 11.30 a.m. with a young couple. For me, it was emotionally and physically draining to say nothing of how they felt and will feel for some time to come. Your doodle this morning focused my mind and helped me to relax a bit before I headed out. Fortunately, it was dry here today but cold but now, as the sun sets, it is breaking through the clouds with the promise of a better day tomorrow. Thank you for what you do. Hope you can take time for yourselves this weekend having finished all your recordings for Sunday/Monday. Stay safe. Lots of love. Hxx

P.S. NDC mailing arrived today and all four are brilliant. Thank you to all at Clarity. Hx

  11. Really enjoyed each step of the way this week. Thank you so much for providing us with so much fun and relaxation

  12. What a gorgeous doodle project. We have a lot of catching up to do this weekend on Youtube. Hubby can draw very well but he has joined me in doodling with you and we’ve had an enjoyable few hours with the earlier projects. Now to the next few!!!
It has been a cool but pleasant day here but a little while ago it bucketed down for about 20 minutes, all quiet now though.
Love to all, stay safe 🍒🍒🍒

  13. We’ve had thunder, hail and heavy rain. Perfect time to head to Japan! Thank you so much, Barbara.

  14. Really enjoyed our trip to Japan this week, just a few finishing touches to make to my picture & then I am done.
My NDC envelope arrived today, they are all brilliant & can’t decide what to try first.
Looking forward to Sunday & Monday’s shows. I remember the corners from years ago. In fact I have still got my original one with a Best Wishes stamp on mounts in the brown cardboard box along with the split tree, nativity scene & Joy stamp. Will be good to refresh ideas on what can be done with the corners & there some pretty designs by the looks of the banner on the website.
Off to finish off my Geisha & Groovi SHAC projects x

  15. Need to catch up on mine over the weekend, well no other plans so should have the time. I have enjoyed seeing the geisha evolve. Looking forward to seeing your Sunday show using the corners, i have a lot of those so will be good to re-visit them. xx

  16. Everyone’s artwork on FB is brilliant….give yourselves a great big pat on the back! I’m (sadly) not in a doodly (or crafty) mood for some reason but will get back there at some point lol! However I am having a good old sort out and organising things…so at least I’m keeping busy. Xx

  17. Hi Barb,
The Japan scene is beautiful. I am so far behind with the doodles now. One of these days I will get caught up ( I hope!) With all the talk about whether we should be wearing masks, I decided that I would make 4 today ( 1 each for Dave & I, I each for my sister & brother in law) . They were only supposed to take 5 minutes to sew after the material had been washed and dried. I had to get into the attic to find all my quilting material first( good job Dave wasn’t in otherwise he would have killed me). Then wash and dry the material ( ironed it dry). Cut out all the pieces to size. That had taken me an hour! Then had to clear everything off my sewing machine cabinet before I could begin to sew. Had to work out how to thread the bobbin. Began stitching the first one and all of the thread got caught up somehow. Thought I could manage to sort it out, which I eventually did 1 hour later – I was in a right state, thought I’d broken my machine.Eventually completed the four masks four and a half hours after I’d begun! So much for only taking 5 minutes!!! Still I’m very pleased with them, just need filters for them now although I might just use folded kitchen roll. Just starting to rain here now, been dry for nearly all of the day. My 2 way alphabet stamps and my Club envelope came today so I will be playing tomorrow. Love the Club goodies especially the Groovi one.Looking forward to the shows. Love and hugs,Alison xxx

  18. Hi Barbara. I have loved the week in Japan! And so pleased with what I’ve drawn. I look at where we’ve come from and I look at how much better everyone is getting at shape and shading. Incredible. I do think that if I’d had a teacher that had taught me to draw I would maybe have followed a very different path. But then I possibly wouldn’t be doing what I do now so things happen for a reason.
Just goes to show though that you’re never too old to learn!
    Love and hugs Xxxx

  19. Hi Barbara well it’s 3 o’clock Morning …… yes morning, just finished catching up. Such fun and life feels normal. I know it isn’t but it has been for about 5 hours, no probably 6. I loved your company and love my doodling adventure. Thank you for giving us so much of your time, you really do deserve a medal. You are our Captain Tom. Nite, Nite and God Bless you, your family and team. Lots of love xxxx Sue xx

  20. Thank you for all your hard work in getting us doodlers to this stage AMAZING. Loving my get together with you, my husband shouts out “ come on it’s nearly 10, you’ll be late”. At first it was a panic trying to find you on FB then clicking on you to move to another screen, then turn up volume by which time I was usually shouting at the screen! Now I’m there before 10 so chilled by the time we take a seat with you in the Shac Shack.
Thank you doesn’t cover it really. Have a good weekend and you too relax xx

  21. There is lots of lovely work you are an inspiration Barbara. I will catch up eventually. Looking forward to revisiting the stamping corners that first got me hooked on Clarity Stamps

  22. I thought the kite was my favourite so far until I did the geisha! I’m amazed what I’ve achieved and it’s all down to you Barbara. I can’t wait to see what you have for us next week xx

  23. Your blog is always one of the highlights of my day – you are so honest and positive and wise.I’ve never posted before -( always nervous of all things computer-y) but so wanted to say thankyou! Have used your lovely products for years – ‘specially stamps – and now have re-discovered drawing with the fabulous daily doodle session – SO therapeutic! Barbara you are such a blessing – thankyou! xxx

  24. Hi Barb, you have certainly triggered a creative spark, the artwork is absolutely astounding. Going to try catch up on some of the youtubes today. Take care and stay safe everyone. Bx

  25. Well Barbara Monday morning 10am and there I was as usual,Geisha you said no way said I this is way out of my comfort zone, left the room early and then said to myself do not be defeated, went back in the room later in the day,and well as they say the rest is history. Thank you so much I have really enjoyed this week(have enjoyed every session) loved the Colouring, and now know where I go wrong, put down to much to begin with. I have found your sessions so therapeutic you are the calm in the daily storm.Take care of yourselves and your family, virtual hugs to a very special lady.

  26. Barb, Love the Geisha drawing. I like drawing anyway, and this has really inspired me, it has made me realise why I like the look of a black outline so much. My husband is fussy about my art work as they are a bit unusual for him. Guess what he said about this one. “You should frame that and hang it up”. That says it all about your inspiration. Thank you so much for your time.
I’ve noted that you aren’t always the confident outgoing person we always associate with you, and that you need a lot of reassurance in your life, I hope the response you have had from the tutorials you have given us, have made you realise you don’t need that reassurance as much. Keep faking it to make it, you are such a funny, humorous person, and a real life storyteller. You really need to start writing books. Keep well. Sue Salustri x

  27. I’m still busy trying to catch up and I am so in awe of what you have all achieved. The Japanese lady is so beautiful and I am looking forward to trying to draw her. a real work of art. Thank you Barbara x

  28. I’ve loved this weeks drawing. Just like so many people, I wouldn’t have known where to start and now I have a picture that my brother has asked to have framed for his wall (I’ve been sending him photos of our daily progress). Thank you for all the hours you spend helping us and for giving me a little more confidence in my abilities…….and if you ever feel like doing a Chinese dragon…..I’m rubbish at drawing dragons 🙂

  29. My geisha is almost finished and in my eyes quite spectacular. It doesn’t matter that she is a bit short and stumpy, that my tree looks a bit like half a dinosaur and my cotton reel had serrated edges hence so does my sun! I never thought I could do anything like her and I’m in love with Perga liners. Thank you so much Barbara.
