We met Brenda.

We met Brenda.

Hi there

Thanks for popping in. Been a long day here in Glasgow! Stand A19 all set at the SEC. Dave, Paul and I just kept going, from 8 this morning till 6 this evening – until the table was all laid lovely, ready to greet and serve our Scottish friends tomorrow .

Speaking of Scottish friends, I must tell you: we had the BEST evening yesterday! Many of you will be familiar with the name Brenda McCaw. She and I have been friends for years. We write to each other most days and are proper penpals! We’ve spoken on the phone too. But. We’ve never met in person . Until yesterday that is! Yesterday, dear Brenda came over to Glasgow with her cool buddy Stew, to finally meet each other properly. She came laden with gifts, beautiful handmade treats and delicious truffles (epic truffles!)

And we talked non stop from the moment they landed until it was time for bed. Have you ever met somebody and just completely loved and trusted them from the moment you clapped eyes on each other? Well, that person for me is Brenda. As soon as she got out of the car I knew we would have a brilliant evening. I knew we would hit it off because we‘ve been writing for years, and about quite deep stuff, but it is different face to face, isn‘t it. She is the prettiest woman! Petite, beautiful smile, wonderful big deep eyes. Just perfect. Dave and Paul were enchanted by her too. She has such an infectious laugh! To know her is to love her.

Brenda is very open about her autism and her struggles with her condition, and how it has affected her life. Hers is not my story to tell, but I can tell you that you‘ll rarely meet a more honest, lucid, switched on individual. It is a pleasure and a privilege to count myself a friend. I wish she would write a book; I think she could help a lot of people – and that is what she likes to do most.

I‘m looking forward to hanging out with her again in October, when we come back to Glasgow!

But now I really ought to focus on the next 4 days. Hope to see you at the SEC ! Doors open 10am.

Love and Hugs
